31. Why did u publish a completely diff piece on Hebrew ynet????

32. O ye of little faith
M Carr ,   Baltimore   (06.13.10)
Haber makes some good points in his article. But, as I read, I am reminded of the problems Moses had with some of the Jews as they trekked through the desert during the Exodus. As did the Jews in those days, Haber has chosen to focus on the difficulties and setbacks of the journey rather than the blessings that flowed from God and the vision of reaching the Promised Land. It required faith to follow Moses through the desert for all those years. Today, it requires faith for Israel to stand against the rest of the world. We must remember that people of the Exodus that thought like Haber fashioned an idol in the form of a golden calf, knowing that to do so was forbidden. To my Christian mind, Haber’s article is the equivalent of the golden calf and demonstrates a profound lack of faith.
33. It is all about religious hatred and religious domination...
JMK ,   NYC   (06.13.10)
and centralization. Religion is a myth, (Jesus nor Mohammed ever existed) but a very useful myth to establish a maintain political power and motivate massive populations to kill intruder viruses. Jews are demonized by the texts and surrounding literature of the fictional New Testament and the fictional Koran and are germs to be destroyed. There are only a few ways for there to be the closure called peace, for Jews to again be exterminated by war and massacres or convert to Islam or do the same thing to the Arabs what they would do to Jewish Israel.
34. Haber
michael Pielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (06.13.10)
Anti depressants should solve the problem. Yes, mistakes were made, but we are still here. Let us be more realistic, more hopeful, and less arrogant.
35. Haber, the man of no faith
Ruvy ,   Gush Shilo   (06.13.10)
Our government, in the past 18 years, has not used its muscle against its enemies - it has used its muscle to smear its loyal citizens, and to smear G-d, Who ultimately made whatever success we have enjoyed possible. And now we suffer the consequences. Defeatist fools of no faith are bruited all over the top "headlines"of this internet paper. If we fail to use our muscle, our might and our will against our enemies, sooner or later it will appear that they will overcome us.
36. Hashen we nee YOUR help Now more then ever

37. If only we had 10 more like you,the world would better
ged   (06.13.10)
Trouble is we have thousands
38. so what's your point?
arsef   (06.13.10)
I do not understand the point of this article. Is mr haber so smart himself? his analyses are corect 3.87% of the time. That's low!
39. Time is indeed on our side
Steve   (06.13.10)
Yes, I am one of those who believes "time is on our side," if we have patience and are willing to endure. Beyond our Maker, time is all we've got. As the world community sinks into utter depravity led by U.S. President Hussein, what else to we have but time? I get the impression, reading this piece, Mr. Haber believes all we've got in our favor is capitulation, retreat and national suicide. US president Hussein, working through the United Nations Security Council a couple of weeks back, condemned "those acts (on the part of Israel) which resulted in the loss of at least 10 civilians and many wounded, and expresses its condolences to their families." Who does President Hussein think he is fooling? He is the epitome of evil. The American people elected him and support him. This is the deplorable state the US has come to. Americans elected their first Muslim-born, Jew-hating president with deep sympathies for the world of Islam. I'll take time, courage and resolution over defeat any time. Make no mistake about it, the international community, led by this hater in the White House, is not on the side of right.
40. The world, what will the nations think?
(06.13.10)
Come on. What will they think? Let them think what they will.
41. Eitan take your Happy Pill and then...
Mina ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.13.10)
do bother to actually explain: "... we thought that we can fool the world all the time, and we were wrong, big time..." The reason I ask is beacuse none of the non-sense you wrote in your article explains it. Israel & Jews/Israelis try to fool no one & have many achievements to be proud of, too many to list in one response. If you cannot see that then do take your Happy Pill & atleast go read through the statistics of the UN Human Development Index 2009. It will illustrates to you that you live in a country that has been rated by the UN at the top 27th out of 186 countries in the world & well ahead of all Muslim, Arabs, Eastern Europen, Asian & African countries. This is only after 62 years Eitan! So do consider yourself blessed that Israel is here for you & all Jews in the world & that the IDF keeps us safe.
42. Finally some cojones to admit the truth
Nour ,   One State   (06.13.10)
world getting sick of your lies and this author is brave enough to at least admit this fact and implies who the culprit is The world has no room for racism and all the traditional lies associated with Zionism. It's not late to repent.
43. Haber surrenders
daat y ,   israel   (06.13.10)
Haber will only be happy when Israel surreders. Israel desires peace not surrender, and be found in theMediterranean sea.
44. Emouna? Faith?
martine ,   ashdod   (06.13.10)
Mr Haber, with all the respect I have for you, you're wrong. I mean all that happened in the past is our fault. Not because we were wrong about the events that happened, no we were wrong because we always thought, and I believe that you are included there like I'm, we always thought that all the victories, all that happened to us since the beginning of the Jewish people is our fact, our strength, our will. How wrong we are! The people who are against us are only the weapons to hit us, the weapons to tell us that we have to wake up and behave like a Jew. Mr Haber a Jew is the model of the World. See that. If Jews behave wrong, the World go wrong. That's not me, see around and tell me if Tvs and radios and papers talk about what happen in other countries than ours. No. They have their big eyes on us. Why? Just ask yourself. Like a famous song said : yesh lanou ha Mele'h Haolam hou shomer otanou mi koulam. And we forget that. If you have faith enough in that Guardian, you know that everything is possible for Israel. You just have to believe it and most of all behave like a real Jew. For that, don't forget that you have to agree that Jews are different than other countries. If you refuse that, you'll wait for years with the same threats over our head for generation after generation.

Mr Haber, if you are reading readers’ reactions, what possessed you to give us your ‘insights’ and what did you expect to achieve with this ill-timed opinion piece?

47. Hey Salma - can the Palestinians be as honest?
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (06.13.10)
Are the Palestinians capable of useful soul-searching? Can they do the self-examination needed to change their path from that of spinning their wheels to advancing their embrionic nation-state? Sorry, Salma, but it doesn't look good for you Pals. You still think that the Gaza borders should be opened so that Hamas can get thousands of more missiles to launch at us. You still think that shooting rockets at our civilians is "legitimate resistance to the occupation". And you still think that you can carry out war crimes against us with impunity. When you start talking about Palestinians demanding that Hamas leaders abandon war and negotiate peace, then we'll believe you people really want peace. Can you Palestinians sober up and make the change? Or are you still drunk on the thought of Iran nuking Tel Aviv and thousands of missiles from Gaza and Lebanon killing tens of thousands of Jews and sending them scurrying to Poland and Germany? (although why a million Moroccan Jews should be expelled to Poland is still a question I'd like Helen Thomas to answer...)
48. Eitan Ever
Arn ,   Yehud   (06.13.10)
Baruch Nadel, A Yediot reporter many many years back, knew Eitan Haber well. He called him Eitan Ever. Ask around what "Ever" means in Hebrew. He was spot on!
49. you mean YOU

50. Is this why Israel is singled out for such abuse and hatred?
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.13.10)
Wake up Haber. Israelis may have been mistaken more than once. They may at times too be arrogant and stupid. But this does not explain the current universal 'aleyhum' on Israel.Radical Islam, the moronic Extreme Left, have their own agendas which call for the End of Us. Wake up. Perhaps we need today a little bit more of the boldness, the inventiveness, we have had in the past. We need to put them on the defensive and not be endlessly defending ourselves against their inane and insane charges.

53. Well...
Keith ,   USA   (06.13.10)
Sure sounds like your creative suggestions in helping the situation might go a long way. Oh wait, you didn't have any. All you did was write a vile, high school level editorial pointing fingers. What a dolt. Learn to write.
54. refreshing article.
lara ,   Australia   (06.13.10)
One would have hoped that by 2010 the barbaric and primitive wars which cost the lives of civilians rather than soldiers would end. We should expect that conflicts are resolved in debate and in evidence based arguments rather than with millions of submunitions in an attempt to send nations back into the stone age. Governments are too stupid to use their minds so they order young men to their deaths. Why do nations boast of their millitary power, their high-tech missiles, tanks, war planes and weapons. Why is so much pride and patriotism found in killing and so little found in peace?
55. #33 JMK- Myth you say?
M Carr ,   Baltimore   (06.13.10)
Myth you say? The Holy Scriptures prophesied, and I think correctly, that God himself would resurrect Israel as a country at some point in human history. The fact that the world, for the most part, didn’t believe this would ever happen had no effect on God’s will and ability to keep his promise. God also promised that Israel would never again cease to exist as a nation once reestablished. God never promised that existence for the state would be free from trails and tribulation, quite the opposite as a matter of fact. For true believers, such as me, Israel’s existence is like manna from heaven and strengthens my faith. The existence of Israel is the historical marker that reminds us that we do not believe a myth and that God keeps his promises. Just as Israel is a blessing to Christian and Jewish believers, it is a curse to others, especially the Muslims. The greatest fear for disbelievers is that the Bible is not a myth. So they lament the fact that prophecy has been fulfilled and the believers are vindicated. But the disbelievers constantly make serious errors. Most of them choose not to make a serious study of scripture and choose instead to do what is comfortable for them. Out of ignorance they rail against Israel and try to tear down the Jewish State that God is trying to build up. They may as well try to stop global warming/climate change. It would be much easier.
56. Old bankrupt argument.
Tas ,   International   (06.13.10)
Self-destructive, Self-hating words from one of the very minds that brought us to were we are today. Be man enough to admit it. As for the vast majority of Jews today - we are more proud, more self confident and much wiser as to who we really are, how we got here and were we are, G-D willing, going.
57. #14 Salma, I'm glad to see you're enjoying the article
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (06.13.10)
This is hardly surprising, because clearly you'd enjoy anything where Israel is portrayed as weak and wrong. However, commending an article which suits your agenda is hardly impressive, it's not a big feat or "hohma gdola" as we say in Hebrew. If you want people to take you seriously, then you should now commend a Palestinian writer who engages in an incisive self-criticism toward his own Palestinian society, in the way Haber does here toward Israeli society. And believe me, you have lots and lots of self-criticism to do. If, however, you only laud your opponent's self-criticism and offer none for yourself, then you have done nothing.
58. Time to sober up?
NYC Girl   (06.13.10)
The first thing I wanted to do after reading Haber's hand-wringing histrionics was to pour myself a stiff drink.
59. Hang in there, Israel! Don't listen to Haber!
Danny M ,   Vancouver, Canada   (06.13.10)
Things may look pretty grim, but the Almighty is waiting in the wings. It may have been a long time since He went to bat for you, but He's still in your corner. Israel is His land and you are its rightful occupants!
60. Garbage
celia ,   detroit, USA   (06.13.10)
Not much to say about this article other than it is not worth the paper on which it is written. So, Israel (according to the author) has been wrong about everything all the time. Was there anything that Israel was not wrong about? Was there anything that its neighbors have been wrong about? Any suggestions on what to do next? Obviously, other than criticizing Israel for anything and everything under the sun, the author has nothing to contribute. Given this, he would have done better keeping his dubious views to himself.
