31. Talula, for your knowledge, the Highest Court in the Jewish
To Talula & others ,   who don't understand   (06.17.10)
country are the HOLY RABBIS and not some self-elected anti-Religious Leftist. The secular court headed by Beinish and her cronies, MUST follow the laws of Torah, whether they like it or not. They may NOT make up laws as THEY see fit. This is a JEWISH COUNTRY after all.
32. How does one arrest parents for exercising their parental..
JMK ,   NYC   (06.17.10)
rights. Where is the legal logic of restricting the freedom of parents to educate their children in the manner they want? In the USA it is called white flight, whites do not have to send their children to public schools with blacks but start their own private schools or after elementary school send their children to private high schools or parochial schools. A perfect example is the Malverne LI schools where whites send more of their kids to private parochial schools from grade to grade to where the High School in almost entirely black.
33. Israel's Secularand Religious War
Marcel ,   Florida   (06.17.10)
The failed secular Jews of Israel who always capitulate to Israel's enemies have only the religious Jews left to kick around with their evil and unmerciful brutality under their ungodly laws. There is a real spiritual battle going on in Israel today. The forces of darkness who serve the devil's anti-Israel Globalist agenda are in control in ISRAEL and always go out of their way to show their master how much they hate anything or anyone religious in Israel. They show more brute force against the religious of Israel than they do against evil Islam and all of Israel's enemies. Thye would never rise up like this against Islam. They have declared war against the God of Israel. Guess who loses. http://averyheavystone.blogspot.com/2010/06/court-delays-emmanuel-parents-arrests.html

35. to #26 blame a dead person?
ghostq   (06.17.10)
no he is not to be blamed, as I said earlier, it's secular fault for let those paracites take your money, if you were more sensitive to what the gov does with the money than you wouldn't be in the mess you r, don't divert the guilt for letting someone abuse you, but since this is good, cause now moderate religious and seculars will demand funds cuts, or don't pay taxes until the gov will stop giving your money to someone who doesn't deserve it.
36. RIOTING!!!!!
susan   (06.17.10)
they know how to riot, they just don't know how to go to the army and do anything productive for the country.
37. #31: the secular court
Steve   (06.17.10)
I find myself rarely agreeing with the High Court, especially when it comes to our land. I do not approve of the High Court ruling in favor of the forcible removal of law-abiding Jews from our land as they did in the case of Gush Katif, Gaza (2005) and in other instances. I commend courageous Rabbis who oppose these bad court rulings. That being said, a secular court is Not always wrong because it is secular. Nor can we assert, the "HOLY RABBIS" are always right. There are times when the rabbis are wrong. This thing does not look good to me as a Jew. Can you understand how bad this looks? The thing you have on your side (it seems to me) is that the media is misrepresenting this to the public. Are they?
38. Time is running out for secular Jews

They always give the LAWBREAKER leader of the Islamic movement,Sheikh Saleh a pass. They have declared war against the God of Israel. Guess who loses.
39. #20 Johnny
Aryeh ,   Bat Ayin   (06.17.10)
Who are you to connect the two issues? The Hareidim in Emanuel do work Johnny is an appropriate name for you... a toilet
40. #28 ghostq Would you send YOUR child to the violent Israel
YNet Distoring ,   The Truth   (06.17.10)
public schools? The issue is not racism but religious principals. Why should religious school accept children from non-religious backgrounds.
41. It's turning into a nightmare.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (06.17.10)
Get out of Israel while you still can.
42. That kind of violence does not look good
Arrow   (06.17.10)
The only place where Haredim can practice in fully their way of life, education and mutual support - is Israel. I am sure they can be integrated in society and govt should be more sensitive to their needs/life-style. Let us all help, let's find solution! Please, Israel does not need more divisions and clashes. Don't let our enemies gloat over us.
43. Let them inbreed.
Miss_X   (06.17.10)
If they continue this inbreeding they will become extinct. End of problem.
44. About the Chareidim, see this post on my blog:

45. Left wing court system here in Israel
Leah ,   Israel   (06.17.10)
So they want to jail a few parents who basically want a higher standard of education for their children. What about the LEFT-WING SPY WHO SPIED FOR HAARETZ. SHE WAS ONLY UNDER HOUSE ARREST.
46. #40: "violent public schools...."
Steve   (06.17.10)
You say "the issue is not racism (separation between Ashkenazi and Sephardi girls) but religious principles." Can you explain to me what the religious principles are? Are the Sephardi girls coming to school in wholly inappropriate attire? What exactly are these young women doing that is in violation of religious principles? I've got an open mind. Little doubt, I do not have all the facts. Perhaps you can enlighten me. Thanks.
47. #37 You saved me writting a talkback.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (06.17.10)
I was about to write the same you wrote.
48. bad judgement that provoked more fire
PROTESTS ,   IL   (06.17.10)
division is not new- costumes re not new- thisgroup will not be happy with tht other group- but sending parentsto jail is just out of tune- tey shall take tibi and traito arabs to jail, take th astronomical alaries they "gain" as well as all monetary and salarial benefits from a minister"without portfolio" that means getting payd for nothing and open school forone ofthe groups- and maybe organize those enourmous manifestation against husbands that deny divorces and leave agunot fr 15 years- listen 15 years not 2 weeks without freedom- good idea
49. HIgh Court's Ruling is Terribly Flawed
Chaim Flink ,   Kew Gardens, NY, USA   (06.17.10)
Don't you see the inherent contradiction. Your headline states that Ashkenazi parents refuse to educate their children with Sephardim. Yet the body of the story states the truth that 30% of the "discriminatory" class are Sephardim who want its standards for their children. Furthermore (and this you don't state) 13 sets of SEPHARDIC PARENTS are also going to jail. The High Court has totally misrepresented the simple facts. Is this justice?? What a tragedy for all Jewry!
50. #2 i see you have no clue as to what happened
S.A.R.A.   (06.17.10)
Read up on the story a little more and you might just understand
51. #4 you do know that ...
S.A.R.A.   (06.17.10)
you do know that the leaders of shas send all their children to Ashkenazi mosdos
52. #7 selfish?????
S.A.R.A.   (06.17.10)
protesting sending 86 parents to jail for the dumbest reason I can imagine is selfish? The High Court had no business in this issue
53. Not a gram of common sense on the Court
Marcel ,   Florida   (06.17.10)
If the Israeli Supreme Court had a gram of sense they would declare Islam a major threat to Israel's survival and make it illegal to supply or support Hamas in Gaza with anything ,the same for Fatah' Islam openly calls for Israel destruction and the ruling elite of Israel kiss up to them and go after fellow Jews And they would be targeting the Israei arab fifth column instead of fellow Jews. They would make it their job to strengthen all Jewish institutions especially building homes ,growing Jewish families and annex in Judea and Samaria . Instead these faithless cretians work with Israel's enemies to weaken and destroy Israel. God has you in his bulls eye target
54. 110,000 Racists!
Leeroy Jenkins ,   Israel   (06.17.10)
55. #51
Steve   (06.17.10)
You may be right about sending parents to jail. It seems a bit harsh. Let me ask you a question. Is Emanuel a private institution or is it publicly funded? You say leaders of Shas send all their children to Ashkenazi mosdos. What I saw in Israel was not Sephardi discrimination against Ashkenazi Jews. Remember Menachem Begin was an Ashkenazi Jew, born in Brest-Litovsk. Begin became prime minister largely because of massive support by the Sephardi community. What I saw in Israel was discrimination or separation by Ashkenazi students from the Sephardic students. Why is this? Are you saying this is not happening? It's not a problem?
56. #40 Steve 30% of the school=sefardim, 24 sefardim=in jail
Ynet Distorting ,   The Truth   (06.17.10)
However, there are sefardic families as well as ashkenazic families who don't conform to the regulations of that school who cannot be accepted. The religious principles are inappropriate attire and other religious matters.
57. The Birth Pangs of Messiah
Jake ,   USA   (06.17.10)
I cannot believe im even saying this, but this court ruling will bring us closer to redemption! Without such a ruling, these segregationist Jews would never change their ways. It's been nearly 150 years since the revival of Jewish nationalism, it's high-time we act like a nation. I love every single one of those Haredim protesting what they believe in (not racism, but their centuries-old traditions) and I hope they take this opportunity to reconsider their galut mentality towards Am Yisrael. We are not crying by the rivers of Babylon anymore. We are returning to our homeland in throngs. These are the "birth pangs" of Messiah. Amen!
58. Marcel,here the problem is another.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (06.17.10)
The question here is not that the High Court goes against faithfull Jews. That indeed happens many times, but here, they may not be completely wrong. Things are not black or white and nothing in between. Religious Jews, being them Ashkenazim or Sefardim or whatever, must struggle in favor of all Jews, without distinctions. If a school has a lower pattern, they should struggle to higher it to ALL students in Israel and try to join them all together,as long the kids or their parents want them in a religious school. Halacha in matters as eating rice or not in Pesach, for example, should be unified and re-discuted. I think so.
59. de-Arabization of the Mizrahim
observer   (06.17.10)
The Mizrahim (Arab Jews) who arrived in Israel ended up in agricultural work, 10-12 hours a day in conditions of disease and squalor. Their high death rate was explained by one Zionist official as a “common and natural thing”. The combination of class and special factors created ‘three paths of the melting-pot’ in which the upper echelons are characterized by Ashkenazi networks prominent in Israel’s main urban centers, the bottom rungs are Mizrahim at the peripheries, while in the middle rung, the two groups assimilate, chiefly in Israel’s growing suburban rings. In the main, Mizrahim were spatially marginalized by the Israeli settlement project, whether in the isolated periphery or in poor and stigmatized neighbourhoods of Israel’s major cities. This has limited their potential economic, social, and cultural participation. The creation of the Israeli new identity involved the de-Arabization of the Mizrahim, the near total erasure of their cultures, the nationalization of their politics, and their assimilation into Israel’s economy and expanding middle class. Yet, Mizrahi identity has been preserved at the social and economic peripheries, not as a distinct cultural orientation, as a diffused sense of origin and solidarity, fueled by persisting marginality and hardship. Today Mizrahim constitute around 50% of the Israeli population. Palestinian Arabs make up another 20%, so the total non-European population is about 70%.
