will be that the Mohel can't take tips.
32. #6 The dreaded banner
Talula ,   Israel   (07.01.10)
They should know, that because of their invasive advertising - I'm NEVER EVER going to even look in that website, let alone buy anything. Ynet need to take it OFF ASAP! and let people decide if they want to go to the website or not - and not have it shoved in your face every time you go in to check the news! I'm a busy woman I tell you! I've got deadlines to meet - I don't have time for all this nonsense!! :)
33. Ynet banners - To Tallulah and others
Anne K   (07.01.10)
If you're using Internet Explorer 7, download IE Pro 7 which has a very effective ad-blocker. Just make sure to activate it. Preferably, don't use Internet Explorer at all. Use Maxthon or Opera or Firefox which all have excellent ad-blockers. You'll never see another ad on Ynet (or anywhere else) again. ;-)
34. Finally
JImmy ,   Jerusalem   (07.01.10)
I hate the sing song weddings they make me sick. I also hate hippy BS and singing until you drop is for sissy's and Charedim. Jews want to be happy but dont want to deal with reality, they only like simcha. I hate those Jews, their yoga and their tofu, and their arab loving pacifist crap. Hippies, and Sing Song Jews, and Charedim are all weaklings and they mess up the Jewish people with their weak Jewish Identity. Besides, Jewish music Sucks!
35. #25 Nice job
Logic ,   Israel   (07.01.10)
I'm not taking sides in your fiesty debate, but notice that you managed to bash every convert to Judaism with your reply.
36. When will the Rabbinate strip the conversion
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.01.10)
of a non Jew ?[ if there was one ] When will the Rabbinate call this guy from Ra'anana to interview him on his "beliefs" ? When will they act against this fake guy ? When will the Rabbinate ac t against this christian missionary ? This should be at least of the same importance as singing Rabbis .
37. Logic , 35
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.01.10)
Not bashing every convert , but only this fake one . When will the Rabbinate strip this guy from his "conversion" , if there was one ? When will the Rabbinate interview this guy regarding his NON Jewish "beliefs" ?
38. re: Tzohar; They are wonderful!!!!
Maxine ,   Ashkelon   (07.01.10)
One of their rabbis married my son and bride and he refused to take any money. He met with them twice before the wedding and got to know them a bit, and officiated at a memorable, meaningful service with laughter, tears and song. These rabbis who make these idiotic rulings should worry about more important things and stop giving Judaiism a bad name.
39. #35 SOOOOO not true!
Talula ,   Israel   (07.01.10)
I'm bashing ONE particular convert who has the nerve to call me and someone else here goyim? Hello!!! the man wasn't born a Jew! where does he get off educating me on how to be a Jew? Judaism has run through my veins since the day I was conceived - it's in my blood….. not his. Not my fault if he has hang-ups and has to try so hard to prove he’s a ‘Jew’ to fit in with the rest of us – by bringing everyone down. I have my views he has his – the difference, I couldn’t care less about his views, they don’t bother me, until he calls me a goy and starts judging me - only God can do that - this Moron isn't God. Who exactly is he to judge me, or anyone else? I live here, I work hard here, I pay my bills, I give to charity and I light candles on Friday nights and holidays - AND I’ve never taken a shekel from the State. So, I don’t need Mr. Half-Wit there telling me how I should behave. I want music at a wedding under the Chuppa!!!!!! It’s a happy occasion – he’s clearly a miserable confused old Git. I don't bash Jewish converts, as long as they convert for the love of Judaism and don't go all weird on the rest of us by trying to educate us. That's just not acceptable. If you converted to Judaism, and you took offence, then I apologize. It wasn't directed at you.....unless you start preaching to me and calling me a shiksa - then the above applies to you as well : ) Peace and Shabbat Shalom to you.
40. Secular Ignorance?
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (07.01.10)
I've been to more Teimani dati weddings than I can count, and at every one of them, the rabbi(s) chanted the berakhot. I've been to a lot of Ashkenazi weddings and, though the tune is a bit different, they all chanted the berakhot too. To many ignorant secular guests, perhaps they think that's the "singing" these rabbis are outlawing. But if that's the "singing" to which these rabbis are objecting I'll be flabbergasted because even Rav Gapheikh, z"l, chanted the berakhot and I don't recall any exception, by any Orthodox rabbi to that rule. On the other hand, it seems to me I remember at least one secular wedding in which, from under the khuppah, a singer sang some favorite pop song of the couple. Is it not this to which the rabbis object? One of the secular weddings was more like how the cinema depicts a feast of Dionysius. Isn't that what these rabbis are trying to stop? If so, there's a lot of tbers who have wrongly disrespected honorable and distinguished rabbis and should stop their slandering. (Like that's ever going to happen!) My impression is that this ruling has nothing to do with Tzohar rabbis (7&38). Am I mistaken? Regarding Talula, she's obviously never been to a miqweh in her life. I'm so pleased to be unlike her and the other disgusting and hateful seculars I read in this forum. I see that the Khareidit woman informed her correctly. But I don't anticipate that will even mildly curb Talula's misojudaism. She should become as knowledgeable about Torah as a convert! She thinks she's superior to converts and I'm not taking her, or Charles, misojudaic and racist, "born-Jew supremacy" and "converts should know their place and not get uppity" crap! She couldn't be more wrong and, also unlike her, the rabbis respect those who choose to serve ha-Sheim and His Torah, particularly when they have given up everything in their previous life to be slandered and lied about by the sewage of the Jewish community! Readers should understand that the tiny group of highly vocal tbers is not representative of Israeli Jews, and certainly not of the Orthodox Jewish community, who are (excluding a lot of ultras) kind, genteel, warm and genuinely wonderful people. Even most moderate-traditional Israeli Jews are kind, genteel, warm and genuinely wonderful people. Readers would never get that impression from most of the tbers. Paqid Yirmeyahu Paqid 16, The Netzarim, Ra'anana, Israel Israeli Torah-reverer (Teimani, Baladi, Dor Daim, Orthodox Jew) Advocate for Logic as Hermeneutic Halakhic Authority Welcoming All Torah-reverers (Jews & non-Jew geirim)
41. #33 Thanks Anne!!
Talula ,   Israel   (07.01.10)
I would if I could, but I can't! We have strict company rules about what can be downloaded and what can't. Strangely enough, I have Firefox installed, but the banner still torments me : (
42. No singing at Chupa's?
Tamara Gottstein ,   Jerusalem Israel   (07.01.10)
For many of us it is song that draws us into the holiness of the moment .Is it really possible for the Rabbinate to remore the rights of a Rabbi to officiate because he dares to sing? This will just help to hasten the firm establishment of an alternative Rabbinate sooner- One can't help but wonder who is complaining. Rabbis who feel they are losing "business" to those that can make the event more memorable and meaningful for the couple? Reb Shlomo Carlebach must be turning over in his grave- more then anyone else- he taught us how powerful it is to sing. I still don't believe singing is a criteria that allows the rabbinate to strip someone of their capacity to officiate.
43. Amazing!
shimon ,   Jerusalem   (07.01.10)
Good going! I really think that singing has taken over thinking in Judaism, and hippies and minstrels have too much of a role in normative Jewish life. In truth, there's too much girly singing, and not enough reality. Now please help the aguna's.

Logic ,   Israel   (07.01.10)
Thanks for your reply. I was born into this tribe, so my case isn't unique and no offense was taken. :) After reading your clarification on converts, I apologize for my earlier post. I just wish the discourse on these talkbacks would stay away from personal bickering and flame wars. Peace and Shabbat Shalom to you and too everyone else. Tonight there's a huge celebration in Tel Aviv so let's all enjoy it.
45. Chazanut vs Singing
jimmy37 ,   Brooklyn, USA   (07.01.10)
What is the difference between Chazanut and singing? Didn't the Leviim sing at the Bet Hamikdash? So why can a rav sing at a chuppa. Chareidim are nuts! They're issuing fatwas.
46. #2: you misunderstood the article
david ,   new york   (07.01.10)
its not that you can't have music at a wedding - of course you do! its just that you the rabbi can't also be the band leader and do the boogie woogie. now, is it respectful for the rabbi to be the band leader? of course not!
47. most talkbacks never read the article
david ,   new york   (07.01.10)
innumerable talkbacks are objecting to the rabbinate "banning music at weddings" doesn't anyone read anymore?! the article never says that. it only says that the RABBI can not ALSO be the band leader (or sing, or do the cha cha) you get some else to do that job. capich?
48. #27 Edited version
Talula ,   Israel   (07.01.10)
You must understand we are different. You choose to live a life that is far removed from the way I choose to live mine. Whether you think my lifestyle is debauched or not, it isn't really for you to judge. As a Haredi woman, you should know that. Secondly, you cannot deny that a 'mikveh lady' is present while you are ducking yourself under the water. She HAS to be there to check that each strand of your hair as well as your entire body is immersed in water. In the porn industry, that's how alot of porn films start. Finally, the actual cleanliness of any mikveh has to be questioned. You must know that only rain water can be used. But we live in a country where there isn't that much rain - therefore, the water that they use, has to be used several times before modern technology filters out all the dirt. If that does it for you Sweetheart, then fine. I know that I'm clean and fresh after my shower each morning.
49. Calm Down
TSB ,   Clifton, NJ USA   (07.01.10)
Some people here need to calm down. All they said is that the RABBI should not be singing or playing music. That does not mean that there cannot be a band at the wedding, or even a singer under the Chuppah. There are numerous Orthodox weddings I have attended where there is a band playing while the Bride and Groom walk down, and even a singer who sings the traditional "Baruch Ha Ba." Just get someone else other than the rabbi.

mo ,   israel   (07.01.10)
please check your fact's before trying to explane jewish law - the rules of mikvaot are fairly complex but trust me as I Have studied them that the water is quite clean in Womans mikvaot (in new ones at least) there is a very complex system that combines rain water with other water in a way that halacjikly is considered rain water.yet quite fresh and clean
51. Is there any way to fire these people?
Michael Weinberger ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.02.10)
I think we need greater separation between shul and state here in Israel, and not have an unelected (by the people) Rabbinical Council make such radical decisions like voiding sincere conversions and being wedding party poopers. I've been to many, Avi Weiss styled weddings that, while they were a bit long, were quite enjoyable and meaningful. If this Rabbinate is out of touch with most of the public, including religious folks like myself, then what good are they? In the USA, religious leaders survive primarily from private funding, not government funding, and therefore they must be more responsible and attentive to people, otherwise they have no followers. It seems like here in Israel, the people in charge are generally more radical and extreme in their rulings.
52. #48 guess you've "heard" about "how alot of porn films start
L ,   Israel   (07.02.10)
...not that you'd know....right? Keeping your inside clean is just as important as keeping your outside clean. ...which brings me to: # 50, aside from his poor spelling is correct about mixing rain water with other fresh water and it all being quite halachic and impeccably clean. For the record: a woman must be absolutely squeaky clean before entering the mikvah, so mikvah water is about as clean as water gets (waaaay cleaner than at the beach or a public swimming pool). ...but I digress from my digression. The mikvah is not about cleaning one's body physically -- THAT is done in the bath/shower before one enters the mikvah. It is a state of mind "thing"....but if your windows to your mind are all muddied up with whatever you've been allowing in there (as your comment would suggest) it's hard to "see" it that way. It's a matter of perspective, let's say.
53. @48 Talula..
dov ,   poleg, israel   (07.02.10)
couldn't aggree with you more ! With regard to the origonal article, i was wondering if the rabbis who make it a depressing tasteless unorigional wedding, do they recive a gold star or a pay bonus ?!..
54. #13 #40 Do not whine.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (07.02.10)
Whinning is ugly ,humiliating and disgusting. It is the same as begging. If you wish to live in peace among Jews, get rid of your "teachings". If you keep with them, know that you are considered an apostate by Jews and will be dealt with accordingly ,that's for sure. Go preach your ribi yoshua and your netzarim somewhere else, but let everybody know that you are an apostate, because, unfortunately, you slole a Jewish condition. *you are not an orthodox Jew*.Bear this very clear in your mind. Deal with it.
55. I should know by know that LEFTIST media SPIN like
Jae ,   Lynn US   (07.02.10)
giant LOOMS. There is always more to the story and its easy to snap to judgement. Just remember the source also, talula, jewish is one thing BEING Jewish is another. Paqid's sincerity and devotion are awesome. While you/I/others may not agree with each other. You putting down the holiest concepts of Judaism definitely puts you into the "non-love" camp of Judaism and the FUTURE of the Jews. It lies in the Torah, not in bagels and gossip...
56. Tlulah are bagels and gossip sacrosanct that you do this 3x
John ,   Pamona US   (07.02.10)
daily? Thats not Judaism. The Mikveh is. Go to the ocean or a lake if you dont want a questionably hygenic place. I would agree with your point on some level. But dont bash it. Intention is everything in life, the mikvehs spiritual intentions are way different than a showers.
57. No Jester clown rabbis? No big deal. THATS WHAT MUSICIANS R

58. Surprise: Kobi Nahshoni making articles from out of context
L ,   Israel   (07.02.10)
snippets. A little information can be a dangerous thing. Anyone remember Rosanna-Rosanna-Danna from Saturday Night Live? "What's wrong with VIOLINS on tv?!? It's cultural and......" ('er, that's VIOLENCE, Rosanna') "Oh! Nevermind!" That's how this Nahshoni-guy's articles are. He takes a few words with NO context (purposely), missing any concrete example or elaboration and makes an article that looks preposterous and gets loooots of reaction from people all too ready to set off like a match. When you see an article like this, you're best off saying, "Oh! Nevermind!"
59. Re: #48 Why comment about things you are so ignorant about?
Michael ,   Toronto   (07.02.10)
Even ten year-olds know that mikva'ot are almost entirely not rainwater. There is the saying, "Better to keep you mouth shut and have people think that you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." But, I guess people assume that it doesn't apply to keyboards.
60. 54 When the rabbis refer me to ur authority I'll let u know
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (07.02.10)
Until then, you're an ignorant slanderer violating Torah (leshon ha-ra, motzi sheim ra and khilul ha-Sheim). The teachings of Ribi Yehoshua are the Perushi (Orthodox today) halakhah. I guess you'd be amazed that the rabbis agree with Orthodox halakhah. That puts us on the same page... and you are clearly on a different page.
