besides, the gaza hospitals are already full of human shields protecting hamas' underground bunkers underneath. and heaven forbid they build more hospitals with the billions of cash charity they receive every year.
32. :: Vicky - #28 - Answer me this
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
The World Health Organization has gone on the record stating that *Israel is blocking vital medical supplies* from entering the Gaza Strip. "It is *impossible* to maintain a safe and effective health-care system (in Gaza) under conditions of siege that have been in place now since June 2007" - Paul Garwood, WHO spokesman. Tell me Vicky *why* is Israel barring the transfer of X-ray machines, electronic imaging scanners etc into Gaza?
33. :: Sarah BS - Let the Arabs look after their own?
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
What Sarah BS leaves out is the fact that Israel has, for over 4 years, blocked/banned the import of medicine and medical equipment to Gaza as well as banning any doctors/etc from traveling to the WB for training. She talks about a “greater evil” and how the common Palestinian should “rise up against their cruel and inhuman masters” well the truth of the matter is that Israel, by virtue of its inhumane and brutal occupation of the Palestinian People, is the “greater evil” which the Palestinians face each day in Gaza and the WB. Compared to Hamas (or any Palestinian group) Israel has far greater control to subjugate the Palestinian People. FACT. Compared to Hamas (or any Palestinian group) Israel has killed far more innocent Palestinian civilians. FACT. Compared to Hamas (or any Palestinian group) Israel has stolen are more Palestinian resources and wealth. FACT. While it is humorous to listen to Sarah BS speak as if she ‘cares’ about the Palestinians in truth she is only advocating resistance against Hamas because Israel has been unable to defeat this group. If Sarah BS had any clue she would know that thousands of Gazans have been visiting Cairo hospitals for medical treatment. In short Sarah BS misrepresents three basic facts because she lives in a fantasy world: 1) It has been Israel which has barred the import of medicine and medical equipment. 2) The Arab World has supported the People of Gaza via medical treatment in the likes of Cairo and by sending Aid Ships to break the Israeli siege. 3) It is Israel who is the ‘cruel and inhuman master’ of the Palestinian People.
34. EGYPT

The answer is Egypt
35. :: Zionist Forever - #26
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
How do you explain the FACT that according to Ma'an News (as reported today) 1,000's of Gazans are currently getting treatment in Cairo?
36. Hang on a second!!!!
Talula ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
They fire rockets into Israel, they have kidnapped one of our soldiers, and on the top of their agenda is the destruction of our country. So why in the name of all things sacred, do we have to take in the sick and dying? If they can smuggle in new cars, I'm sure they can smuggle in some plasters and medicine. Hamas want to rule Gaza, hasn't anyone told those half-witted Idiots that there's more to running a state than terror and big talk? I think we've been more than nice until now. We need to cut off ALL supplies to that spit of land, and let them get on with it.
37. matty you got short memory no wonder in your age

but only early this month hamas denayed entrence of aid. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3901662,00.html
38. #32 answer this
Talula ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
If they are smuggling in lions, tigers and other colourful animals for their zoo, and of course, new cars, why can't they smuggle in medical supplies? I'll tell you why. Because they couldn't give a flying toss about the welfare of the Palestinians - everything that is smuggled in translates into a nice little earner for Hamas - the Palestinians don't have money for healthcare - therefore it's not a viable option to smuggle in hospital supplies. You don't live here and you don't live in Gaza and you don't know the half of it so why not ZIP IT!
39. 32 EXACTLY!!!!!
Talula ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
Why can't they go to Egypt for treatment? Those Egyptians knew what they were doing when they refused to take back Gaza after the war.
40. :: Talula - #38 - The old ‘deflect’ game eh?
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
The simple question was “Why is *Israel* barring the transfer of X-ray machines, electronic imaging scanners etc into Gaza”. The smuggling of animals/cars/etc has NOTHING to do with *Israel’s decision* to bar entry of medical equipment into Gaza. So Talula why did Israel (not Hamas/Fatah/PA/etc) deem it necessary to prevent medical equipment from reaching the hospitals in Gaza? Are you going to deflect again or can you give a valid reason for this Israeli decision?
41. :: Talula - #39
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
Ideally the Gazans would like to be treated in Gaza but like I stated this is not possible if Israel bars the entry of essential medical equipment into Gaza. If Israel insists on targeting Palestinian civilian/neighborhoods/infrastructure/etc you would think that as a basic humane gesture Israel would allow the Palestinians the means to treat the maimed and injured was well as the dignity to bury their dead? Sadly Israel deprives the Palestinians of this basic right as well.

44. Inhumanity, such a sad state.
Speechless   (06.29.10)
You wish such suffering on others, yet complain that the everyone is anti-semetic when they show or speak of disgusted regarding you. You're so self-absorbed and selfish that if you die tomorrow and God asked "have you ever done something wrong", you would probably lie and say no. When your enemies are many, and your allies are few, blame yourself.
45. Salma, Israel delivered CT scanners in February 2010
Zvi   (06.29.10)
Over the last few years, the Israeli government has shipped in many truckloads of medical supplies and equipment. Except, of course, when Gazan gunmen attacked the crossings and killed employees there. Since 2005, there have been 5 cases in which Gazan terrorists have tried to pose as patients and infiltrate Israel in order to carry out terror attacks. Despite this, Israel continues to treat about 10000 Gazan patients per year.
46. Matty from Fairport and Haiti
Nachman ,   Maale Adumim Israel   (06.29.10)
It really sticks in your anti-Israel throat that out of all the countries in the world Israel showed what could be done in an emergency. Before writing your aggitprop why don't you think for just a moment that if the Arabs accepted the Jews right to live in peace and security in its land - no there was never a Palestinian homeland here - the facilities which are not available to them would be gladly provided as they are to the Arab citizens of Israel without discrimination of any kind. However for as long as Hamas deny us our rights and illegally retain Gilad Shallit and send terrorists (even those supposed to be receiving treatment in our hospitals) to kill our civilians they should not expect Israel to prop up their terrorist government by providing health care which the billions of dollars funnelled into Gaza should now be providing.
47. So-called Human Rights Organizations Selectively Ignore that
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (06.29.10)
Gaza has a border with Egypt! Why is Egypt and the 22 Middle Eastern Muslim countries swimming in oil wealth, not condemned by these Jew-hater hypocrites for REFUSING to help their Muslim brothers? What happened to the many billions of dollars gifted to Gaza- some of that free money intended for hospitals, doctors, nurses, medicines, equipment and medical treatment? Free infidel money finances the war machine against Israel's Jews and builds luxurious mansions for Gaza elites. Hamas/PA laugh all the way to the bank with infidel money.

This includes all humanitarian supplies including medical supplies and medical equipment.
50. OK under Geneva Conv., no change until Red Cross sees Shalit
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (06.29.10)
Israel's current policy regarding Gazan access to Israeli hospitals is more than generous under Geneva Conventions, and unprecedented, in fact (were Dresdeners treated in Brit hospitals? were Viet Cong families given access to US hospitals? Taliban treated in America?). Current policy should stay unchanged, and maybe even tightened a little, until Gilad Shalit has regular Red Cross visits and medical attention. Make this a requjirement, and Obama won't dare touch the Israeli policy, POW mistreatment is still a hot button in the US, and the Obama crowd is in trouble with the voters, won't cross Israel on this. Collective punishment? Rocketing Sderot is collective punishment!
51. :: Nachman - #46
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
Gee Nachman the last time I checked the relief efforts in Haiti were a global effort, you paint a picture as if Israel was the only country involved. Here is a snapshot of what other countries in the region donated: Breakdown from Jan 2010: Turkey: $1m, search & rescue teams, medical personnel, 50 tons of food/aid/medicine/etc and a field hospital. Jordan: Military field hospital/6 tons of food. Iran: 30 tons of food/aid/medicine/etc. Lebanon: 35 tons food/aid/medicine/etc. Bahrain: $1m. Morocco: $1m, 24 tons aid/medicine/etc. Qatar: 50 tons of food/aid/medicine, rescue team etc and a field hospital. UAE: Over 100 tons of food/aid/medicine, medical staff/etc. Kuwait: $1m, 90 tons of food/aid/medicine/etc. You obviously forget that this ‘land’ has always been ‘shared’. You speak about the rights of Jews to live in peace but what about the rights of Arabs (Muslin and Christian) to live in peace? Occupying Palestinian (yes these people exist) land and brutally oppressing the people living there is not contributing to ‘peace’. The WHO have *repeatedly* called on Israel to allow necessary medical supplies/medicines/spare parts and particularly staff needed for training health professionals into Gaza. Like I have stated before (and which no one here has given a valid reason for) how can the Palestinians in Gaza have a proper health care system if *Israel* bars the transfer of medical equipment into Gaza? Can you answer this question without deflecting?

rana ,   jerusalem palestine   (06.29.10)
Dont you and others commenting on this article have any grasp of reality,, do you read well or are you dyslectic or have a learning difficulty to say the least.. The article was talking about referral to st. Joseph's hospital which is a Palestinian hospital in Jerusalem owned and run by Palestinian doctors and nuns. We take care of our own and we dont need you and please dont spread lies saying you provide medical care for free your hospitals charge the Palestinian authoritites millions of dollars per year for medical care. that is why there are no referrals anyway to your hospitals anymore. The referrals are to our hospitals and to Jordanian hospitals but they have to use the eretz crossing anyway which you have no right to control in the first place because you are obliged under the road map to allow for a safe passage to the WB without crossing Israel. Nobody wants to visit Israel or to engage with you anymore. The sooner we seperate completely from you the better and then we will have nothing to do with you or your services medical care and the lot. Believe me we do not want it. As for Shalit did it ever cross your mind how many Palestinians are in Israeli prisons. There are 8000 of whom at least there are 80 who are missing and nobody knows anything about.. why dont you ask your government to reveal their wherabouts. Listen I want Shalit to be out and with his family more than you do but I wish you would have the same sentinments for the thousands of Palestinian prisoners who are in Israeli prisons. The racism and hatred which is coming out of you people in these talks is just incredible.. I wish the civilized west which support you read what you write so they can really understand what we Palestinians have to bear and they will see the hatred which you are spreading.. ps how can they smuggle sensitive quipment via the tunnel did you ask yourself or the hatred is blocking your reasoning too..
53. :: Linda Rivera - #49
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
Taking snippets of the likes of the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs website is one thing, omitting the fact that 15,000 tons of supplies is a paltry amount compared to the actual weekly requirements of the Palestinians in Gaza is another thing. Sure 15,000 tons of supplies ‘sounds’ like a lot but in reality it isn’t. If I recall correctly according to the UN 15,000 tons of supplies is only about a quarter of the amount required for the Gazans to live sustainable lifes. Of course if Israel wasn’t maintaining an inhumane siege on Gaza the Palestinians could import all the food and supplied they needed and apologists like you wouldn’t have to post half-truths while failing to admit that Israel is collectively punishing the entire populace of Gaza which as you know is a war crime.
54. :: Extremely touching!
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
It touches my heart that their Arab brothers refuse to take care of them, and let them out via Egypt.
55. Article disputes claim Israel is killing Gazans
William ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
If Gazans are allowed medical attention to save their lives, then by default Israel's policies are keeping Gazans alive...not killing them as Leftists claim. What this article leaves out is how the Hamas-Fatah rift plays in keeping Gazans from receiving medical care. Because of a petty issue over visas, Hamas blocked hundreds from medical care in Israel and Egypt, and many from attending hajj. As was aptly pointed out...the report is horribly biased.
56. #12 - There is no lack of medical equipment, Salma
William ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
The UN already attested to this. The medical equipment from the flotilla itself was redundant to the equipment already in Gaza and others flowing in daily. And you USED to have good doctors in Gaza. Many were Fatah, and either fired at gunpoint in 2007 or killed. Not a way to run a medical care center, Salma.
57. #33 - There are Gazans doctors training in Israel now!
William ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
That kills your accusation that doctors are banned from traveling. Gazans doctors work and train in Israel, along with WB doctors....in Jerusalem, Haifa, and Beersheva. What is disturbing is Hamas disguising themselves as patients in need or medical professionals in order to move to WB or infiltrate Israel. What is more disturbing is your lack of disgust against this act which places all Gazans in harm's way.
58. #52 - Pal prisoners afforded MANY rights
William ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
and Shalit has zero! Pal prisoners have right to family and red cross visits, access to the outside world and even an opportunity to get an education. Shalit deserves at least a red cross visit! One thing for sure - you were expected to have many thousands released as part of a peace agreement which Arafat screwed in 2000 and you lost everything. But unlike Shalit who's only "crime" was wearing an IDF uniform, those in Israeli jails HAVE committed a crime - either terrorist or criminal, and in no way will hardened terrorists and bomb experts will be released. That's for you benefit and our's.
59. #52 - "how can they smuggle sensitive equipment"?
William ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
The same way they smuggle cars fully intact and flat screen TVs (another sensitive electronic item). It's very easy to do so, wrapped in several lawyers of thick plastic and moved on a trolley in these large tunnels. Rana - your ignorance either stems from your own racism or brainwashing...but Hamas sees more impetus in smuggling weapons and cars than medical equipment and food.
60. Matty - another touching moment
William ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
That Rantisi, the past leader of Hamas and a pediatrician by training, felt it better to blow children up than follow his own Hippocratic Oath to heal them. Or the Israeli Arab doctor who refused to aid a patient who's last name was "Kahane" despite Israel Jew doctors aiding "Palestinian" terrorists in the same hospital as their Jewish victims.
