61. :: William - #55 - Question
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
Wow William you really live in a weird world, are you so desperate to negate the inhumane actions of Israel that you will warp reality. Now you are claiming that noble Israel is ‘keeping Gazans alive’ and not ‘killing them’, wow what humanity and restraint Israel is showing. In the ‘real’ world Israel, is by default, applying a strictly inhumane siege on Gaza and has blocked the most basic of food items and medical equipment for 4 years in an attempt to collectively punish the civilian population of Gaza. Did this internal rift also impact on the Israeli decision to bar medical equipment from entering Gaza? “WHO spokesman Paul Garwood says the agency has been waiting for up to a year to be allowed to bring in hundreds of items. He says these include X-ray machines, electronic imaging scanners, laboratory equipment and basic items, such as elevators for hospitals.”. Tell me William why is Israel barring X-ray machines from Gaza?
62. :: William - #56 – You FALSELY claim that...
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
“There is no lack of medical equipment, The UN already attested to this, The medical equipment from the flotilla itself was redundant to the equipment *already* in Gaza and others flowing in daily. The following is an article dated 17 June 2010 from the UN UNISPAL website: Title: "*Lack of* Medical Equipment and Spare Parts Compromises Gaza’s Health System". Quote from article; "Shifa hospital's CT scanner – used to diagnose cancers, cardiovascular disease, appendicitis, trauma and other conditions – *is out of date and in dire need of servicing*". Ref: http://domino.un.org/unispal.nsf/0/15468e9ecf0e67cd8525774500595f24?OpenDocument I challenge you to back up your spurious claim and refer me directly to the report that the UN has stated that there is no lack of medical equipment and such equipment is up to date.
63. #40, Easy answer
Danny   (06.29.10)
Israel had a list of things that could be let in and X-ray scanners wasn't on it. Here is a question for you then - why is it Israel's responsibility to care for these people? Is the US flying Bin Ladin to the Mayo Clinic to get his dialysis done?
64. #61 what basic foodstuffs isn't making it into Gaza?
Danny   (06.29.10)
65. :: William - #60
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
I fail to see your point, are you saying that doctors can kill? We all know that after all Baruch Goldstein was a doctor and he killed 29 Palestinians and injuring 125 more.
66. 35
zionist forever   (06.29.10)
Assuming this story is true and Egypt is treating them then thats very kind of them but Israel is under no legal obligation to give any of them even a bandage. Human rights groups seem to be very selective when it comes to Israel. Things that they wouldn't condemn any other country who is taking a simmilar policy they ignore if its Israel its a crime against humanity.
67. :: Danny - #63
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
I should really specify ‘intelligent’ answers only. You still have not answered the question as to *why* a civilian X-ray machine which cannot be used as a weapon was prevented from entering Gaza. Or to dumb it down for you - *why* was this item on the ‘list’?
68. :: William - #57 - more 'claims'?
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
I don't recall this featuring in the Goldstone Report. Have you any 'proof' from a reliable source to back up this claim? BTW the likes of Jihad Watch or Blog sites are not reliable sources.
69. medical care is a service, not a human right
Yaniv ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
70. Why should the Gazans enjoy Israeli hospitals??
Ofri   (06.29.10)
They have their own hospitals, and they should not be allowed to enter Israel, as an enemy entity. Period. If they need better advanced medical treatment, because of the fact they cannot even provide it to their own people - they can move to Egypt.
71. Does USA invite North Koreans to American hospitals???
Student, ,   Las vegas   (06.29.10)
why should Israel let anyone enter its territory?? Hamas is a brutal enemy of Israel, a terror organization that declares that it seeks to destroy Israel... They can go to their own hospitals.
72. :: Zionist Forever - #66
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
Really? Look up the Geneva Conventions: "Civilian casualties are not entitled to the same degree of care and protection as are combatants. Civilian casualty care is the responsibility of civilian authorities. However, if a military force begins providing treatment to civilians, it is then required to provide them with the same degree of care and protection it is required to provide military casualties. An occupying force must cooperate with the civilian authorities to ensure a civilian medical system is maintained. Civilian medical facilities may not be used by an occupying force unless the needs of the civilian population have been met. Medical supplies may not be taken from civilian sources unless the civilian requirements have already been met. If civilians in an occupied territory require medical supplies, the occupying force must provide them. An occupying force must provide medical care to detained an interned persons". These are Israel’s legal obligations.
73. Shoulda bought hospitals instead of weapons.
Mea   (06.29.10)
The gazans are routinely brought to Israel, and the treatment the average 9,000 per year is not paid for, but given free. Just because Israel must block terrorists from it's territory does not equate to having to absorb each and every medical case. Perhaps the leaders should have chosen medical supplies, doctors, etc. instead of using the billions of dollars in aid to buy weapons and pay for Iranian training camps. Perhaps the physician who flew to Gaza during the war and issued lies to the media during his tenure there should get his sorry butt back there and treat those people. This bogus call against Israel is tantamount to the Taliban whining because they cannot get treatment at a US base in Afghanistan. Bogus.
74. Matty the troll gets it wrong again
NACHMAN ,   Maale Adumim Israel   (06.29.10)
So Matty look at the Geneva Convention and just show us which provision provides that Israel is "Occupying" Gaza. Please waste your time doing so because you wil not find it. Under the Geneva Conventions Art. 42. Territory is considered occupied when it is actually placed under the authority of the hostile army. The occupation extends only to the territory where such authority has been established and can be exercised.The only authority exercising power over the territory of Gaza is Hamas. So Israel has no obligation to supply medical facilities to Gaza.
75. #61 - Just disputing the great Leftist lie
William ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
Many times, Leftist groups and UN will claim that so many died because of Israel's denial of access to medical care to Gazans.... yet, under the surface, the truth is...no one died because of Israel. Medical devices are in Gaza, extreme cases are already being treated by Israel, and when Hamas feels like it, other cases are given visas to leave Gaza. Your attempt to simplify a complex situation in which "palestinians" themselves hold a massive amount of blame is the reason for my post.
76. #68 - just google Wafa Samir Ibrahim al-Biss
William ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
and by the way - Al-Jazeera, Guardian, BBC, Wikipedia, Independent, and Ma'an aren't totally reliable sources.
77. #72 - if Israel is civilian authority in Gaza...
William ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
as you claim... "An occupying force must provide medical care to detained an interned persons" That means that Hamas is no longer in charge of Gaza and Israel, as the civilian authority there, can oust them and move in to provide consistent care rather than this dis-jointed process with a terrorist group we have today. However..."Civilian casualty care is the responsibility of civilian authorities" This quote means that Israel is only responsible for those injured in a war situation, negating all other cases that existed prior and after campaigns like Cast Lead.
78. #65 - Baruch did the act himself, Rantisi led org
William ,   Israel   (06.29.10)
In other words, it's a "State" policy among "Palestinian" rulers that killing Jews holds priority over saving lives, anyone's lives.
79. :: William - #75 - Deflecting eh?
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
Why did you ignore my clearly stated question in #61? It was: Tell me William why is Israel barring X-ray machines from Gaza? What can’t you directly answer this simple question?
80. Spend your foreign aid on Dr.s & hospitals next time
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.29.10)
...instead of investing in hate.
81. :: William - #76 - You fail again!
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
I asked: Have you any 'proof' from a reliable source to back up this claim? Referring me to Google is NOT providing proof from a reliable source. Really William you are getting lamer by the minute.
82. :: William - #77 - tsk-tsk
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
Post #72 wasn’t addressed to you. You would be better to address post #62 where I challenge you to back up your spurious claim and refer me directly to the report that the UN has stated that there is no lack of medical equipment and such equipment is up to date. Or are you going to ignore this simple question as well and refuse to give me a direct answer?
83. :: William - #78
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
Can you provide documented proof of this silly claim? I don’t think as you have been unable to back up any of your other claims when challenged on this thread.
84. #25 Sarah B
sam ,   colorado   (06.29.10)
How can Hamas to treat their patients and they are besieged by land and sea by Israel, Is it the policy of starving and the siege the Palestinian people would make him rebel against their leaders? This failed policy will not make the Palestinian people to rise up on his leaders but on the contrary will make it stick more and more with his leadership Only give Palestinian people the his right to live in peace and security, and he will not want anything from anyone, especially Israel
85. Why can't the Arab World treat them
MonseyJew ,   Monsey, US   (06.29.10)
They have passage through to Egypt and/or Jordon, so why aren't these cases being treated by their "brothers" in Arab countries, or pro-PLO Europe, or ....? Instead, Jews get blamed for having superior medical technology and not providing it to their sworn enemies. It's another chapter in the ongoing saga of anti-Jewish hypocrisy.
86. :: Nachman - #74
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (06.29.10)
And what parts of the Gaza coastal waters and airspace (not to mention the ‘buffer zone’ inside Gaza) is not controlled by the Israeli army? All too often do we hear of the Israeli navy ‘exercising its power over’ Gaza fishermen by shooting at their boats.
87. notice how Matty ignore the facts that hamas is
ghostq   (06.30.10)
the one who prevent medical help to gazans, another q for you good old matty, in cast lead Israel built fieled hospital to palis, but they never came, hams intimidate who ever attended it. in other words gazans chose hamas and hamas xhose to make gazan miserable. sound like you have selective reality.
88. To: No. 84
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.30.10)
Well, let's see. For starters, Hamas has misspent the billions of euros and billions of dollars that they have received by using the funds to (i) acquire weapons, (ii) purchase ever finer second and third homes in Europe for their so-called "leadership," and (iii) fund personal offshore bank accounts. Gaza is not starving. The people of Gaza, if anything, are grossly overweight. The fastest growing medical problem in Gaza is obesity. You need look no further than the widow Rantisi to realize that. At 5' 2" tall, the widow Rantisi tips the scales at 270 pounds. She'd do Barnum's baby elephants proud. This is the same woman whose husband -- a trained physician -- was responsible for the murders of hundreds of innocent Jewish civilians. This is the same woman who exorts children to die for the jihad by becoming suicide bombers. While SHE stuffs her face. Hamas has plenty of money to devote to building hospitals and attracting excellent medical staff. Thus far, they have failed to do so -- of course, if Hamas' leadership gets sick, they immediately fly off to Switzerland for quality medical treatment. Needless to say, the rules that apply to them do not extend to the common Palestinian. Hamas cares nothing for them. Had they cared, there would no refugee camps in Gaza, but rather small starter homes for people, and a thriving economy bolstered by foreign investment capital. But that is not at all what Hamas wants. If the common Palestinian in Gaza really believes that Hamas has their best interests at heart, then the world is better off with them eliminated from the gene pool. Can you spell "cannon fodder," Sam?

Of course you live in Israel must defend your country but you do not say the right The peoples of the whole world has seen through TVs all Israel criminal acts in Gaza I think you're blind, do not have any human conscience
90. 89 - worse than what gaza hamas did to gaza fatah last year?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.30.10)
murdering in front of families, parading arrestees around in their underwear, throwing fellow palestinains off rooftops, etc - these are the terrorists you defend? i think YOU'RE blind, do not have any human conscience (according to your own criteria). btw, that also makes you a hypocrite.
