31. Don't Worry,you can fly over Assad's palace :)
Salma ,   Palestine   (07.01.10)
This radar, is only against the air strikes !!!!
32. radar ? ... NOT TO WORRY: If and when
moshe ,   Israel   (07.01.10)
radar gives the Syrians another means of defense OR offense...if ...IF it is allowed to exist at the time of the time of hostilities. radar is just another obstacle for a tecnologically superior power. There are a few ways to eliminate the functioning of radar ... even without destroying it. NOT TO WORRY : If and when the time comes, this radar will NOT operate and protect against the resulting damage that technological superiority WILL INFLICT. moshe
33. Israel silent "in order to keep from increasing tension"
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (07.01.10)
Israelis seem to be slow learners. They are always the ones who remain silent or exercise restraint "in order to keep from increasing tension". Yet they're taken as signals that Israel will do nothing, that those actions will be cost-free. We saw it in Israel's silence over the post-2000 buildup by Hizbullah. We've seen it over the years with Palestinian incitement and terror. We saw Israel's non-response to the missiles for Hizbullah being staged in Syria. We see it regarding every abandoned commitment and mistreatment from the US. And we see it today regarding Turkey.
34. Yawn. More jaw yapping by the deluded Ynet people.
Mark ,   Netherlands   (07.01.10)
Come on people, its been 10 years so far and not a shot fired. If israel had the power it would have done it a long time ago with or with out US permission. What makes you think its going to happen any time soon??
35. Do you have any idea what your talking about?
Gerald ,   USA   (07.01.10)
The funny part is that folks here just open their mouths with out having the knowledge in these matters. For some weird reason they seem to under estimate their enemy and over estimate their own abilities. These are some serious issues which I don't think your politicians and military personnel would follow based on your mindset.
36. #32 We shall see Moshe,we shall see.
Peter ,   Vienna-Austria   (07.01.10)
I have a feeling your going to have more people like Ron Arad and Gilad schalit. Keep up the arrogance. I love it. Cause at the end its gonna cost you dearly. By the way, this event took place in 2009. How come we haven't heard of your Government taking action regarding this issue?Whats the matter? Need Viagra??
37. Blah blah blah. 9 or 10 years so far and no move by israel
Erwin ,   Netherlands   (07.01.10)
Each year we are supposed to hear your crap about pre-emptive strikes. What happens?nothing. Surely you can' t ignore the fact that iran has adopted a successful policy towards you. Only a rumor about those scuds has made you so worried that you are beginning to talk about nukes.
38.  (the all are a loser)
sam ,   colorado   (07.01.10)
the all are Known that Syria hasn't have defense systems nor aircrafts advanced to facing of Israeli warplanes, but Syria has missiles with large amounts of advanced technology that can harm the largely in Israeli cities,I think and often that Iron Dome will not be able to face all these rockets, (the equation)let us not laugh on each other,Israel won't break the Syria and Syria won't defeat Israel, (the all are a loser) the peace is better for all
39. Syrian/Iranian radar.
SM ,   UK   (07.01.10)
Having the advanced knowledge to protect this long range radar against sophisticated electronic jamming and other measures is an area in which Syria has not done well in, in the past. Arabs nations though not at the cutting edge of science and technology, do excel at human rights abuses, nasty dictatorships, torture, lack of press freedom and the export of radical islam, so at least they're good at something. Israeli hi -tech, on the other hand, is highly advanced and hopefully 'measures' to deal with this radar will be found so when the time is right it will be left 'staring blindly into the sky' at which point the general in charge of Syria's radar programme will be 'invited' in for a 'chat' with the security services.
40. #33 It takes one stupid move by israel
Bannister ,   USA   (07.01.10)
To have the first nuke tested on Tel-Aviv. That's why israeli leaders are cautious. Remember, people like Mullen don't open their mouth for nothing. They know a lot more than you and I do.
41. I think actions speak louder than words. And so far...
Max ,   Germany   (07.01.10)
Israel has been the only one doing nothing but talk, talk, talk all these years. Either put up or shut up.
42. you can detect the jets but whose planes will get shot down
zionist forever   (07.01.10)
Israel could fly a planes into Syrian territory and Syria could launch everything it has but when its all over how many pilots will be in the air and how many will have ejected? Syria doesn't exactly have a good record when it comes to taking on the IAF .. during the Lebanon war Israel shot down 100 syrian planes and didn't lose a single one of its own. As for Hizbollah, how exactly is a knowladge of the position of Israeli aircraft going to help them? They don't have their own planes or advanced anti aircraft systems. Israel also makes the Harop UAV which is designed to be a radar killer. They fly bellow radar, loiter and when they are ordered to they become suicide bombers and destroy the thing. A jihadi UAV just right for dealing with Syria.
43. #8 to Mike Van
sam ,   colorado   (07.01.10)
and We in the United States welcome them so much and we will receive them with all warm Hugging
44. Syria better build alot of antennas and bury radar control
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (07.01.10)
AGM-88 HARM has about 100kg range for use on F-16s, likely F15s also now. Turning off radar could make it miss but not by enough but changing antennas would give enough time to possible shoot down aircraft and keep radar operating. An antenna is cheaper than a aircraft to replace.
45. just an israeli noise aimed at us congress not to confirm am
sheer nonsense   (07.01.10)
46. 44
zionist forever   (07.01.10)
Considering the fact Syria is just next door the range might be close enough to possibly jam the radar. There are anti radiation missiles and radar killing UAVS So there are a number of ways to deal with the Syrian radar. That thing is only going to be operative as long as Israel wants it to operate.
