61. 11 A British Parliamentarian etc
MairiT ,   Glasgow UK   (07.14.10)
Jenny Tonge, Baroness Tonge..so why is she not languishing in a prison .....considering what she has voiced in the past, In January 2004, while still a Member of Parliament, Tonge was asked to step down as children's spokeswoman by Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy after saying of Palestinian suicide bombers: "If I had to live in that situation - and I say that advisedly - I might just consider becoming one myself." Tonge refused to apologise: "I was just trying to say how, having seen the violence and the humiliation and the provocation that the Palestinian people live under every day and have done since their land was occupied by Israel, I could understand." Thankfully, she was removed.
62. My PR is much better
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (07.14.10)
I am that famous BEST INSTANT IRANIAN AND MIDDLE EAST EXPERT. Taking two one hour Al Jazeera video courses on both subjects qualifies me to comment anything and anytime on what is going on in the region 8000 miles away from me that I have never visited in my lifetime. This is the beauty of all this, no one can dispute my objectivity because I know absolutely nothing! BLOODYTHIRSTY SCOT DALLAS, TEXAS
63. "...accuse Israel of apartheid" LOL LOL LOL
ace234yy ,   san fran usa   (07.14.10)
What do you call what you are doing? So you realy think you are in a democracy??!! Israel is in denial.. Just like a junkie, the first step to recovery is confirming that one has a drug dependency.. As long as you THINK that you are a democracy, peace will not be upon you... WAKE UP ISRAEL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The homes that you are demolishing were built way before the new settlers came.. I can imagine the Mexicans comming to California and tellin me that I gotta leave,,,, Truth can hurt sometimes, but it does lead to salvation.. Your settlers are what we call here in the states as " 90 % of the illegal immigrants" Sorry to hurt some of your readers feelings, but the truth has to be said the way it is..
64. At last we are taking back control of the situation
Ben Marom ,   Haifa Israel   (07.14.10)
She doesn't represent the majority of Israel's Arab citizens, who just want to live in peace with the rest of the state. She represents a small group of people who are hostile to the State of Israel. She is a dangerous demagogue and should be thrown out of the Knesset.
65. very good indeed any person who involved
ghostq   (07.14.10)
with HHI or Hamas should be rightless, in any other countries she might find herself behind bars for contacting hostile org.
66. #11, jj
israeli ,   israel   (07.14.10)
Didn't Bobby Sands die in prison while on a hunger strike? Lost a tad bit more than his parliamentary seat I should say. Zoabi is still an MK. clipped-winged, but still an MK. And there's a whole bunch of other Arab MK's who engage in all sorts of monkey business and still keep their seats, such as Tibi, who was Arafat;s advisor as well as a member of the Knesset, or Azmi Bishara who fled the country to escape inquiry when he was discovered to be on Hizballah's payroll, as well as other Arab MK's who travel to Lebanon and Syria on a regular basis and make kiss-kiss with our sworn enemies. That much for your pantomime.

(07.14.10)
apparently you don't know your usa history, do you??? "i can imagine the mexicans coming to california and telling me i have to leave" do you realize that the usa took not only california from mexico, but also arizona and texas???? the mexicans, according to the usa violent war against the mexicans where mexican territories were captured, have all the right to come into california and demand returned back to mexico. after all, you americans kicked the mexicans, the natives, out of california, texas and arizona. what is good for the goose is good for the gander. won't you say? yes, the truth can indeed hurt sometimes, as you posted and must be told the way it is, according to even you. hameed aboughazem, iranian
69. Occupation?
Ashley ,   Israel   (07.14.10)
What does Zoabi mean when she mentions occupation? Israel is no longer in Gaza! If she implies Israel, which she regards as Palestine, then why is she a member of the Knesset. If a Jew behaved like this in an Arab Government what would become of him? Democracy in Israel is obsered!
70. what Zoabi did- response to #33
Israeli   (07.14.10)
There are some errors in what you wrote- Israel does not have a constituation- but forget that. My purpose is show that in a healthy democracy, going against the ideals of the government is acceptable. It is up to the government to draw the red lines of what is acceptable divergence. In Canada, the third largest party's mandate was (and may return) Quebec's separation from Canada, the Basque separatist party has members in the Spanish parliament, Irish sit in the British parliament. I am not sure the level of acceptance to not standing for the anthem, or speaking out against the gov't. I think saying that she supports terrorists is unfair. Terrorism implies violence to civilians which is not what happened. I am VERY critical of her for not speaking against the violence on the ship and only blaming the IDF but that is different than what you said- condem her for being pro-terror.
71. RUBBISH
#63   (07.14.10)
sorry to hurt YOUR feelings , but you obviously have NO idea as to what you are talking about. 1.The homes that you are talking about - some of them quite new but built without permits and some of them not safe or not in residential areas sometimes belong to the settlers and sometimes to the "Palastinian" populatian-but you don't always here from both sides - DO YOU? 2. Where do you get that stupid number from 90%? and who exactly are you calling illegal immegrants? People that have decided to live in anther country and have recieved citizenship - Legal in my books! 3.Do you know what an apartheid is? you obviously haven't been to Israel. Not visited the schools, malls , hospitals..... Is Amerca apartheid? 4. And YES Israel is a democracy. Knesset members are chosen by Israeli citizens to protect their rights and fight for what they deserve , and NOT to illegaly fight for the enemy - I think that's called treason and in any other normal country she would have got MUCH MUCH WORSE. Why in heavans name should Israel pay to protect her from the laws that she has sworn to uphold and most definitly broken?
72. Zoabi who ??? ,...
split ,   usa   (07.14.10)
Who knew her yesterday ? Now she's got a name and recognition, she's somebody - You guys have talent to create martyrs ;) ,... Wait for the book ,...
73. #66
jj   (07.14.10)
he sure did, but his seat wasnt taken away from him. there is no connection between the two. he died an MP. Gerry Adams held his seat for almost a total of 10 years. in fact, when he became an MP, the government had to lift the ban on him travelling to the UK. they "unclipped" his wings to use your language. like i said - this is a pantomime of democracy.
74. to #54 the British grave yard in jerusalem
ghostq   (07.14.10)
can show you how many British soldiers died by the hands of palis and Turks, sound like you ignor reality and taint their UK British troopers memory.
75. To. No. 69 Yes occupation......
Paul ,   Athens   (07.14.10)
As long as Isreali's deny their occupation of the West Bank, they will be viewed as the colonialists they are and will never have peace or genuine international friends
76. Iranian passport, eh?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.14.10)
Wonderful! Good-bye. Good riddance. Hope you like your brand-new hijab. Don't forget to not write. You won't be missed.
77. #66
jj   (07.14.10)
and i must have to remind you that Adams was suspected of being one of the most senior members of the IRA leadership throughout his political career. sands actually was a serving member of the IRA and the CO for the maze prison.
78. Hanin Zoabi says to the cowards of the Knesset :
Salma ,   Palestine   (07.14.10)
SURE FOOTED WALKING LIKE A QUEEN.
79. #78 She can slither on over to Gaza
Cynthia ,   USA   (07.14.10)
Zoabi has no place in the Knesset. She does not deserve the benefits and she's done a disservice to the people she represents in Israel.
80. Haneen Zoabi: Well Done!
ghadeer ,   Haifa   (07.14.10)
Haneen Zoabi will be remembered in the History of the Zionist state as one of the most important figures who was able, in a relatively short period of time, not only to expose the fraud of the Israeli democracy, but to refute the myth all together. Bravo Haneen, you unvail their masks, and it's not the Mob, it's the respectable MK's, the true and official face of Israel. If you were able to do that, so gracefully, then you are indeed, the best thing that happened to all of us.
81. jj
israeli ,   israel   (07.14.10)
Zoabi is still MK, as are the others, so what's your point? And how about Tibi serving as MK while being Arafat's advisor? This, I give you, IS pantomime.
82. #79 Cynthia,
Salma ,   Palestine   (07.14.10)
Hanin Zoabi has the right to stay in the land of her ancestors, but for the Knesset, she is intelligent and know what should she do
83. there is another & more practical way
zionist forever   (07.14.10)
For now fine the woman and take her diplomatic passport thats not going to get the interantional community fuming. Attach a clause though that whislt she can sit out her current term in the Knesset she will not be allowed to stand again for maybe 10 years. Again its not going to interest the international community if she is not allowed to stand for the Knesset next time. Doing it this way will also allow us to get rid of the other traitors like Tibi who think they can commit any illegal act and are openly hostile to Israel but he just claims Knesset immunity and so he can't be prosecuted. It will be an oportunity to clean up the Knesset.

jj   (07.14.10)
Oh wow... i really do have to spell it out. Original point from #11 said: "A British Parliamentarian supporting terrorism against UK would loose [sic] more than their parliamentary seat. They would loose their liberty too. She is lucky she lives in Israel and not here! " and I proved him wrong by pointing out two examples where MPs did not lose privileges by their connections with an organisation driven for politcal change through violence. in fact, one who was suspected of being in the upper echelons of the IRA even got more privileges when he became an MP in the form of a ban being lifted on his travel. Tibi pales in comparison to this. you could have just read the talkback history, but im feeling generous. This is a joke what goes on in the Knesset. at least stop calling it democracy and stop trying to fool yourselves.
85. To: No. 82
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.14.10)
The land of her ancestors. That would be the Hejaz in the Western Arabian desert, to the extent any nomads can call a place "home." The Saudis can have her. I'm sure she looks just lovely in black, head to toe. And face.
86. To: No. 16
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.14.10)
How can you be sure? Are you so close to Ms. Zoabi that you know what is in her heart and in her mind? Does she confide in you on a regular basis? And why should Israel take a risk that can easily be avoided? This traitorous creature belongs in prison. She should be thanking her lucky stars that Israel is not prosecuting her for treason. In Israel, treason carries a death sentence. Did you know that? Better yet, does the vile Ms. Zoabi know that?
87. Okay
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.14.10)
"It is no wonder that a state which denies a million Arab citizens their basic rights is also revoking the rights of an MK who faithfully represents her voters" My, my, my. If those Arab citizens are THAT unhappy, they should certainly leave and find a home more to their liking. I will enjoy watching them see how many "rights" they will have anywhere in the Arab or Islamofascist world. Still, good riddance.
88. jj
israeli ,   israel   (07.14.10)
well, Sands was elected while in prison, wasn't he? that's where he also starved himself to death. His parliamentary seat failed to restore his liberty. And still no word on Tibi. And yes, as long as all Israeli citizens have the right to free vote, yes, we are a democracy. And please don't get me started on the recent corruption scandals rocking UK political life. No democracy is perfect, no-one can really preach "holier than thou" to us.
89. #82 Salma
Cynthia ,   USA   (07.14.10)
The Israelis are not stopping Zoabi from staying in Israel just like they didn't stop her family in '48. Zoabi's family did not run away like your family did. She rose to a position of leadership and influence but given the opportunity, aligned herself with enemies of Israel. Now she'll pay the price. Her emotions trumped intelligence.
90. #88
jj   (07.14.10)
haha, holy cow. yes he was and yes he did. his parliamentary seat didnt restore his liberty, no, its not a get out of jail card, you see - mike from oxford implied nobody with any terrorist connections would be welcome as an MP and he is demonstrably wrong. Israel has some rights for most of the people most of the time. you have the chance to vote in this system, go you! i think the UK system is terrible, no arguments here - it still trumps yours!
