Most American Jews voted for Obama because they are liberals first and foremost. Israel is a distant thought, at best for the majority of them. If Israel was important to them, their voting would have been different. It is very telling that the majority of Israelis have a very different opinion of Obama. Obama has shown numerous times that he blames Israel for any setbacks with peace talks, and treats Netanyahu like a pariah. Obama is making nice-nice with Netanyahu now because he is trying to repair the damage before the November elections.
