1. Of course Hamas is against it - they want to blame Israel
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (07.16.10)
Of course Hamas is against it - they want to keep blaming Israel for their own existence. Without the blockade they can not be taken seriously, and the pretense of Israel occupying will go away. Then their real agenda of always being against Israel (like Hezbollah) even when Israel is gone.
2. Hamas cant reject it because Lieberman not asking them!
Gaza=Egyptians!   (07.16.10)
Gaza=Egyptians! NO SUCH THING AS "PALESTINIANS"!
3. Hamas(aka Muslim Brotherhood) consider the whole middle east
Jason   (07.16.10)
as Arab land and parts of N.Africa! Eradicate Hamas and get it over with already!
4. Hamas is looking for excuzes to fire imported rockets
(07.16.10)
Do we trust Greece and Cyprus (which one?) to really inspect the ships and find weapons? It's just a matter of time until the UN demands them to allow weapons shipments to Gaza - don't they deserve new AK-47 to help boost the rule of law? And maybe a few tanks and rockets to repel attacks by neighboring states? UN will gladly arm them by itself - ask the General Assembly what's the best solution to the Jewish question.
5. THAT IS IN PRACTISE TO SAY THAT -
Arn. ,   SWEDEN.   (07.16.10)
- HAMAS DO NOT RECONISE ISRAEL AS A STATE, BUT THAT ISRAEL AS A STATE WITHIN ITS OWN BORDERS ARE OCCUPIED PALESTINA. Arn.
6. Since when a non terrorist entity decides something?
Keren ,   IL-BR   (07.16.10)
Others decide for them ,either giving them fat handouts-which they take with high appetite, giving international knowledge in how to kill and engage poor souls to be shahids in charge-or deciding what better fits them as a tutelage under their guardianhood. I believe Lieberman is right, and his proposal(if we are not missing nothing)must be accepted lest EU and cia are called hipocrytes entities without any doubt. As for Hamas saying that they are part of " inseparable" " palestine",well ,all of us should be laughing at that, and together with Fatah, which was kicked out ,by this same bloody hyenna, from Gaza.
7. disengagement
diana ,   usa   (07.16.10)
by closing the border w/ Israel and letting them import anything they want the following will be accomplished: Egypt has to deal with the Muslim Brotherhood, and THEY WILL DO PROPERLY WITHOUT ANY EUROPEAN COMPLAINING. And maybe the EU thorugh the Red Cross will be able to "see" Shalit.
8. Hamas
Stu ,   Toronto Canada   (07.16.10)
Dear Hamas, Who asked for your opinion... a-holes!
9. Gaza

JUST DO IT!
10. #4 - If Hamas was Looking for Excuses
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (07.16.10)
to Fire Rockets, the Israel has given them plenty.. Evacuating and destroying Pal homes in E. Jerusalem, Firing a shell and killing a woman who was in her home in Gaza, the killing of a young boy in W. Bank, then letting the suspect go after maybe 3 minutes, continued blockade, murdering 9 Turkish activists in International Waters, All the terrorist acts and acts of humiliation by the IDF and Settlers in the West Bank and E. Jerusalem on a daily basis, flying over Gaza's airspace daily, killing people because they got closer to the border than the IDF would like, even though they are in Gaza, etc., etc., etc. But Hamas did not shoot off any rockets, did they? The only acts of terorism this year have been Israeli terrorism.
11. Not Up To Gaza
Ralph Levy ,   Usa   (07.16.10)
Well it's not up to Gaza. Just seal it. Http:\\ralphsrant1.blogspot.com
12. good idea....
(07.16.10)
Seal the border, don't let anyone in or out, they want treatment in a hospital let them go to Egypt. Put an International Army on the borders, but not UNIFIL army of Arabs, put the French, Australian etc. Let them check the cargo of International ships, put pressure on the Red Cross to see Gilad Shalit, change his freedom for those scumbags in jail, but don't put them in the Westbank, throw them in Gaza, stop giving them electricity etc in Gaza, enough is enough...

" since when a terrorist non entity decides something?
16. Huh?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.16.10)
Let's see if I have this right .... Hamas' charter calls for the destruction of the "Zionist entity" and the extermination of the Jewish people, but not as long as the people of Gaza are fed, clothed and taken care of thanks to the largesse of the State of Israel. I guess it simply won't do for Hamas to stop using the billions of dollars and billions of euros that have poured into the Strip for their own nefarious intent and their own personal gain. Hamas wanted self-determination; they have it. Why cannot they do something with it; Israel is sick and tired of those Palestinian leeches and terrorists.
17. Trickery
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (07.16.10)
The Lieberman plan is not for independence of Gaza. It would still maintain Israeli control through surrogates. It would not allow air transport nor would it allow Gaza freedom to trade. It is an attempt to sever the ties of Palestinians under occupation. Gazans are not stupid. It seems that Israel thinks variations of Oslo promises (lies) will be believed.
18. Get real!
jb ,   Canada   (07.16.10)
Jordan is more a Palestinian country than Gaza. You'd better get used to 2 separate entities/states...whatever a la Pakistan and Bangladesh. Its a good plan that puts the onus on Hamas to start governing instead of pissing on the Gazans and blaming Israel for everything. And if they don't like it...tough shit!
19. Gaza was part of Egypt
sami ,   savyon   (07.16.10)
It should return to Egypt or be independent Israel is not baby seater, gas electricity, water and in return they call us Nazis, while they attack us with rockets for 10 years now its just unbelievable
20. Egypt
observer   (07.16.10)
The Jewish people has taken root in Egypt and the most beautiful Jewish figures resided in that country or came there seeking refuge: Joseph, the first minister of supply in history, our great legislator Moses, Philo of Alexandria, Saadia Hagaon, Maimonides. . . .Our Torah, the most beautiful achievement of the spirit, the charter of humanity, was given to us on Mt. Sinai, land of Egypt.
21. LETS DECODE THIS
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne,   (07.16.10)
What Hamas is saying is that that they want the Gaza Strip to be joined to the West Bank,ie,they want to occupy all the territory in between. This is the little poison pill that people like Tony Blair and Obama drop in when they talk about a 'contiguous Palestinian State'.They want the State of Israel to disappear. It isn't just time for Israel to disentangle itself from Gaza,it's time to disentangle itself from its hidden enemies like the EU and this US administration. Mr Lieberman, don't ask Ashton or Obama,JUST DO IT!!!! THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
22. Define "Homeland"
emanon ,   USA   (07.16.10)
Gazan's say they are fighting to establish a homeland because they never had one. How can they then say that Gaza is part of arab "homeland" if they never had one!?
23. frm sand dunes to Glitzy gaza, a mirage?
Emile   (07.16.10)
Why should Abu-zuhr, Haniyeh and the rest of the gang accept it. Having a bunch of imbeciles in the UN, US, EU, UNWRA and other generous givers (except their own beloved brothers) pour Billions $$$ into this bottomless pit, this gigantic cesspool, allows them to live " the life "; unrivalled in the annals of the arab world or 3rd world countries. All this without lifting a finger except for firing rockets. Israel was never, and never will be a palestinian land. Liberman's plan has merits and should be pursued vigorously. If Ms Ashton and the EU should reject it, Israel should seal gaza shut tight. Then with the surplus $ billions, they can have Turkey deliver water, food, medicine, while fuel, power plants galore in the arab world, should present no problems. The EU will be delighted to oblige with hospitals, infrastructure, inter'l airport Combined flotillas from Europe and muslim countries will be only too happy to oblige, and even supply navy escort. With so many pirates around, one never knows. Now, if gaza as a full fledged country decides to continue their attacks, then the State of Israel can go in, smash them to bits, and get it over with. Any other ideas ??
24. give them this corridor between gaza and westbank...
eporue ,   europe   (07.16.10)
at least temporary (until an official solution is found on the borders) and close the door. why does the europe/us support this b.s. ? all, because egypt is so strict about rejecting gaza ? egypt must take gaza back, and then the west bank can at least try to become a normal state. with gaza the whole thing is doomed from the start...
25. The Filth, Hamas, claims that all of Israel is Islam!
Robert Blum ,   New York, USA   (07.16.10)
There is no negotiating with Islam. Their goal is to Islamize ALL of Israel and ALL of the world! Visit www.thereligionofpeace.com to seee what Islam really is!
26. #17 - you obviously have inside sources ..

27. #10 (Doug) - Amnesia?
Highlander   (07.16.10)
First things first, 9 Turkish "activists" belonged to the IHH organization, which iirc USA branded as a terrorist organization. So basically, Israel officially liquidated 9 terrorists. How is it bad again? Hamas constantly shot rockets on Israel's cities without any retaliation but with a sole request to stop. Hamas continued to shoot rockets, they got the hammer dropped on them. I wonder, what would've happen if Cuba would've launched a few rockets on Miami... BTW, I guess you also forget that 95% of the citizens that got killed is Hamas's fault because they choose to stockpile their weapons and rockets at schools and hospitals. So you know, the only reason the Hamas doesn't fire rockets now is because they're afraid that the IDF will drop the hammer once again, but this time the citizens won't forgive them.
28. # 23
Birdi ,   Israel   (07.16.10)
I like your idea Emile, but sadly there is no one in the Israeli government who has the ba*lls to seal Gaza shut tight. Gaza will be a heavy burden around Israel's neck for years & years.
29. spoiled adult child
A ,   Belgium   (07.16.10)
To me this sounds like two parents with a 35 year old, lazy, worthless, bum of a son who have decided that he has lain on the couch long enough throwing beer cans at the TV while demanding food, clean clothes, and a high speed internet connection so he can get his porn faster, while swearing and threatening his parents. The poor parents throw him out of the house and lock the door. "How dare you abuse me like this! I'll get even!" And then it starts to rain. Let the rats in gazastan drown the same way.
30. "Free Gaza" got more than they wanted!
TC ,   Israel   (07.16.10)
Ja Ja Ja, who will they blame now? Catherine Ashton ? Cyprus?
