john   (08.02.10)
Turkey is becoming a terror supporting state, they can only now fill their unsold hotel rooms in all the resorts with scam terrorists like the IHH, Hesbulah, Hamas, and Iranian republican guards.

Jeff ,   Chicago, IL   (08.02.10)
I was at an AIPAC event this weekend and there were a lot of people talking about how they will never consider a vacation to Turkey again, and I'm one of them. If these people really want to "go over to the dark side" and start supporting Iran and then also think they'll get my tourist money they can kiss my @!@.

avi ,   haifa   (08.02.10)
in the end the mayor misse the shequels. maybe there was no flood of muslim tourists and if only fundamentalists turning the town into a much to "explosive" place.

42. Let's not write off the good people of Turkey
Alan ,   Mérida, México   (08.02.10)
Erdogan uses his anti-Israeli policies to whip up his ignorant voting base. The Turkish flotilla was a desperate measure to strengthen his weakening economic and political base. Erdogan's is the current government of Turkey, and is clearly hostile to Israel and pandering to the world's Islamist terrorists. However, he is not in power for life, and Turkish politics shows great fluidity. Friends of Israeli democracy should not jump to the assumption that Erdogan's is necessarily the true face of Turkey. I had planned to stop in Turkey en route to Israel in 2012 (next time my budget and life situation may allow travel to Israel). Whether I will stop in Turkey will depend on where Turkey is then. While I would hesitate, as a kippa-wearing Jew, to go to Turkey now, I hope that the friendship that prevailed up until very recently would again thrive, and that I would be able to visit Istanbul and, hey, Antalya.
43. To JOhan in Oslo
m   (08.02.10)
The only problem is that Arabs are not as crazy for traveling and spending as Israelis. ON the other hand I will never visit Oslo for example, just as I would never visit Germany. Hatred there is blind

zionist forever   (08.02.10)
When you have a country that has friends who the army believe he he may be sharing Israeli military technology with. When he Erdogan says on the record I WANT TO BE FRIENDS WITH ISRAEL then we can talk. Until then Turkey should be considered a no go zone to Israelis out of both security and to make a statement. I do hope next election this guy stands the man actually sounds rational.
45. travel to turkey
sas ,   israel   (08.02.10)
anyone that goes - is NUTS! let the turks eat the soup that they cooked. israelis do not belong there - not now and not in the future.

I might just try Malta someday. I certainly won't be going to Turkey. Don't like Turkey the country and I don't like eating turkey either.
47. I just came from Antalya and Izmir
Mark ,   USA   (08.02.10)
Had no problems and had a wondeful time, run into few Jewish tourist and they were having great visit, Izmir is home to 7.000 Jews, we think it was a media hype, there are no reason why the Jews has to be afraid. on the ground no one even cares about the govrement fued, people are people and everyone was having a good time.
48. Look who`s swimming in your pools..
Nora Tel Aviv   (08.02.10)
....the Revolutionary Guards of Iran. Can the Mayor of Antalya, or anyone else in the world, imagine us Israelis, swim side by side with them ?

Will these nice people be as nice as you?!
50. To #32
Steven ,   Rockville USA   (08.03.10)
#32 Observer. You are right, The PM should apologize to you as well, the way you requested Professor Dershowitz to respond to your incoherent talkback In the Jerusalem Post. You are a psychopathic narcissist. Now I understand why you respect so much Erdogan. As the Latin proverb say: similis simile gaudet (those resemble, enjoy each other). Both of you belong to a closed ward.
51. ToIan #49.
Steven ,   Rockville, USA   (08.03.10)
Ian, for free election in Turkey do not hold your breath. The election will be the same as it was in Iran., another bastion of democracy.
52. Turkey in Arab world? Huh?
Lbnaz   (08.03.10)
"Turkey is the only democratic Islamic country in the region, and is considered one of the most moderate countries in the Arab world" Why is Turkey in the Arab world? Turks aren't Arabs.

ation with our formerly great friend, Turky, is coming to an end - or at least - a change for the bad. This way or the other; things will never be the way it was in the past few decades. We were deeply hurt by lies spread by Turkish poloticians and media, including the "artistic freedom" they took, producing outrageous TV shows, in which "IDF soldiers" (who were really Turkish actors) were abusing "Palestinians". Not only me and mine are going to stay away from Turkey in the forseeable future, we have also stopped buying Turkish goods. There is no organised boycott, however, as avid Zionists, we do not wish to support "anti-Zionists". Maybe in another generation or two?
54. Thanks but no thanks......
Froike ,   Brooklyn USA   (08.03.10)
I'm certain there are many Turks who want good relations with Israel and are not in the least Anti Semitic. However, as a Jew, I would not travel to Turkey as long as Erdogan's government rules.
55. #14 Split
Steven ,   Rockville, MD. USA   (08.03.10)
The answer is quite obvious: nobody left to entertain the guests. Each shaheed got 70 virgins. The supply gone very fast. Would you go? You are a sworn eneny of the Jews, yet, you stay away as well.
56. To #33, Tatfun
Steven ,   Rockviile, MD. USA   (08.03.10)
Tayfun, I was in the past October in Turkey with a tour group. Every participant firmly belirved that the local merchants went for our dollars, the prices for tourists were inflated. My friend, your statement is totally incorrect, it was money, money, and more money. As for your claim that the mayor will not be reelected because of his pro Zionist (?!) statement, contradicts your frequent claims made in this website that Turkey is a true democracy. It is a wishful thinking. I will change my mind, when Erdogan will be voted out from office, and the Kurds will be left alone, the situation in Cyprus will be resolved , the genocide against the Armenians and the Greeks will be rectified, just to mention some issues. So my friend Tayfun, make your choice, you are misguided and misinformed, you can be a decent person, provided you stop hating this and that. Thanks for inadvertently spilling the truth. Please remember: no more claims about the Turkish democracy.

Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (08.03.10)
So you have already forgiven Israel for spitting in your face re: Sammy Sheinbein? I live here and have yet to forgive Israel for giving him sanctuary -- he might be out on our streets in as little as 6 years!!!! And that scares me more than Erdogan!
58. *33 I am anti- mecca but not anti-muslim ...
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (08.03.10)
for instance. Do you get it? Anti-Zionism is anti-Semitism as Zion is their mecca .. now do you get it? You have admitted to the world that all muslims like you are anti-Semites, so would you admit that in a court of law? ... or will the taqiyya take over? You 'people' if you weren't dangerous and had a sense of humour you could have the world laughing at you for many decades to come. If only ... it's such a shame as laughter is good for all - so much better than hate. As for Turkey i hope it festers in it's own filth.
59. To Dorothy #57.
Steven ,   Rockville, MD. USA   (08.03.10)
Dorothy, Erdogan is a menace and a danger for everybody, while Sammy could be for a few, if for any at all. His mindset could have changed during his prison time. If he allowed to stay, he will be monitored. Yes, he is a frightening, despicable killer, but, unfortunately he is not the only one out on the streets. Be well.
60. To Johan #6.
Stevem ,   Rockville, MD. USA   (08.03.10)
Johan Odin #6, are you among the well behaved, you the spiritual descendent of the Quisling war criminals? Remember, you owe me a talkback respond. I am sure, the Turks prefer the rude Israelis over you. Why do you expect others to go, you should have been already there, to fill the place of those that prefer to stay away, since unlike you, they have principles. They do not hide behind excuses, like you moron do.
