31. Chelsea Clinton wedding
Amos Leitner ,   Wichita,Kansas USA   (08.06.10)
The word Shiksa is ugly and in utter bad taste for contemporary Jews. Shiksa is feminin form of Shegez.meaning something like street-urchin. Furthermore there is an undertone of contempt. Your usage is unforgiveable
32. The Jewish custom of husband and wife avoiding sex during
Rivkah   (08.06.10)
menstual period and the week after is an excellent way to maintain the wife's reproductive tract health since infections are more likely to occur during the menstrual cycle and the week after. Vaginal sex should be avoided during menses and the week after. The Jewish couples who adhere to this Law of Moses often have twin beds they separate two weeks and then push back together for two weeks. Studies have shown that Orthodox Jewish women have the lowest rates of cervical cancer compared to other groups of women. That is in part because the male is circumcised and in part do to fidelity and in part due to following the rules about not having sex during a woman's uncleanness (menses) and the week after that. Poor Jenna Bush looks like she is being misused sexually by her husband, her eyes look worn out and she has not even had a child. Hopefully, marrying a Jewish man, Chelsea will avoid that if that is what is happening to Jenna Bush in marriage. The young (Goyim) are not taught such wisdoms or think such Bible laws are for olden days when the Bible was written for all times.
33. 1. What you say is reality for a lot of Jews in mistreating
Rivkah   (08.06.10)
non-Jewish women which is one reason a lot of people hate Jews. They cannot be trusted to marry a woman they romance and/or seduce or defile. My niece Sharon Patterson who works on cruise ships now devoted four yearsof her life to a Jewish male ( I cannot call him a man since he is not worthy of the name man) lawyer in Ohio named Josh (I don't know his last name but I think he is in Toledo). Then he told her he wanted to marry a woman who was more Jewish, whatever that means. Sharon would not marry after that and I can assure you that even as she approaches forty there is a curse from Yahweh on the swine who broke her heart. I hope his children had birth defects or were born dead since the sins of the fathers are visited on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Yahweh. Abandoning a woman after four years of dating and leading her on is a hallmark of hatred of Yahweh. Gesenius' Hebrew Lexicon says a kiss is a covenant. Once that line is crossed, it is too late to decide to marry someone else without the judgment of the Lord coming upon the swine.
34. We don't want that attitude imported here.
Wise Saba ,   Eretz Yisrael   (08.06.10)
35. how do you even know he's jewish?
david ,   jerusalem   (08.06.10)
i'm not jewish, i don't keep any of the weird traditions my mother does, i eat pork and enjoy it, i certainly don't fast on kippur and yet on my I.D. card is stated i'm jewish. though i'm not. Maybe he also realized how prehistoric it is to be part of a religion, let alone one so flawed? i suggest stop judging him and talk about him like he's not in the room. Live and let live.
36. the jews in
sas ,   israel   (08.06.10)
america only care about themselves. they have No interest in religion and NO interest in Israel. If we are fighting in a war - they do not care. They are only interested in themselves. Sad to say - but I see it with my own family. For them a soldier killed or wounded means NOTHING.
37. Kelly @ 4 : You're 100% RIGHT !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.06.10)
Shiksa is pejorative , Chelsea is a non Jewess or Gentile .
38. To 1 . A smart guy will not write this
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.06.10)
But yes , your head is "rapped" , so empty
39. Disgusting
Yehudi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.06.10)
I am disgusted with the writer of this article.
40. Rabbi Ponet is Reform not Orthodox
Abba ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.06.10)
This article is both inaccurate and offensive. Rabbi Ponet is a Reform rabbi. He received ordination in 1973 from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
41. shiksa schmiksa
non jew   (08.06.10)
i agree with number 4 - the minute you start to talk about shiksa you start to make a barrier between 'jew' and 'other' and then no one wants to listen to what you have to say. But who cares who married who... come on people look around, we aren't so different. I (apparently a shiksa in your eyes) have two eyes, two legs, two arms, eight fingers and two thumbs. I need to eat, need to drink, need to poo and piss. My body works like yours. It will exist for a limited amount of time. My brain works like yours (oh yes, you may be surprised!) I am actually quite like you. Maybe my history and culture makes me seem different but i am not really, not if you look beyond the label you have given me.
42. We Don't Think Like You
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (08.06.10)
The bottom line is American Jews don't think like Israeli Jews is because we don't discriminate we assimilate. We are free to do what ever we want because first and foremost we are Americans and we consider our selves to be free to do what ever we want. We are not and never will be loyal to the State of Israel.
43. I've picked up on that quality as well, kelly
Cameron ,   USA   (08.06.10)
Noticed the use of that "shiksa" term in a very flip & cavalier fashion a great deal. You know they would have just flipped if I referred to her spouse, Marc, as "the Jew-boy". Clean it up, folks.
44. You silly girl...
Hector ,   Venezuala   (08.06.10)
Shiksa is a Yiddish word...the author is Jewish and has all the right in the world to use it. The negative connotation is in YOUR mind, not his.
45. I went to see the Dentist yesterday an old
Al   (08.06.10)
shiksa kreicher if there ever was one. Here's the kicker. His kids became frum and are raising their kids frum. So I said to the Dentist .'I suppose you'll have to hide the shiksas in a closet now, wont you? He laughed, but at the same time took out pictures of his grandkids. They were dressed in full regalia along with the extra long payis. He was obviously very proud of his kids and grandkids. Take heed....all you wannabee goyim out there...you may want to assimilate, but G-d works in many ways.
46. I married a gentile
jiacomino ,   huddersfield UK   (08.06.10)
My wife offered to become Jewish,in order to do so she had to undergo religious instructions. This is totally against my beliefs.I do not believe in the existence of some god or idols,Nor will I allow religion to enter my home,I believe in separating religion from government, and take active action to turn believers into non believers.I am an exponent of circumcision for health reasons and advice others to follow suit.So what does it matter if I married a goy?I remain an Israeli (incidentally my fathers family can count on many grand rabbis of Smyrna/Jerusalem/Cairo.) and I and my son and grandchildren have served in tzahal with distinction Thank God they do not believe in Him
47. Jewish history has finished with Mark
Stephanie ,   Israel   (08.06.10)
Thousands of years have come to the end of the line. SAD.
48. What Shiksah means
Mark ,   Germany   (08.06.10)
www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shiksah I thought it meant overbite.
49. interpretations
wondering   (08.06.10)
is it really according to Torah to "have fun" with women you do not marry ???
50. The real origin of the word Shiksa!
David ,   Australia   (08.06.10)
How many people know where the word originated before they use it? The word shiksa is etymologically partly derived from the Hebrew term שקץ, שכץ sheketz, which means "abomination", "impure," or "object of loathing", depending on the translator. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiksa Are you happy calling Chelsea an abomination?
51. As a Jewish man who wasted 15 years dating Jewish girls...
Scott ,   USA   (08.06.10)
Maybe, ladies, guys don't like to be treated really, really badly! (My last Jewish girlfriend had the nerve to invite me to her wedding, to another man. She expected a present. Maybe she should have broken up with me first.)
52. Chazerwash! There's LOTS that we can do!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.06.10)
Those Jews concerned with intermarriage and assimilation would do well to look in the mirror and take stock. Being Jewish is indeed a chore. We even describe mitzvot as the "yoke of mitzvot". Toss on top of that the through-the-roof price of Jewish education, higher costs and lack of availability of kosher foods (who wants to drive 2 hours each way to get a chicken?) and the current low level of Jewish knowledge of members in the Reform and Conservative movements and you have some key answers to the problem. What can we do? Lots. Make Jewish education affordable. Make kosher food easier to get. Educate those Jews who are ignorant of much of the richness of Judaism and Jewish practice. Prayer is a key - to most Reform and Conservative Jews, Hebrew is the same as any other complicated, complex and non-understood foreign language. Yes, kids learn how to read and write Hebrew, but they have little or no idea what it means. Educate. Start foundations to support Jewish education for kids and continuing education for adults. Chabad does a great job of reaching out. So does Aish Hatorah. Work with them to help widen their base, or use their best practices to help Jews learn about themselves. Here in Israel - push Birthright and more programs! And first and foremost, stop thinking and preaching to us like a loser ("Regrettably, it appears that we can do very little").
53. Shiksa
Misha ,   Tel Aviv   (08.06.10)
I agree with all those who find use of this term disrepectful. Shame on Ynet editors, time after time you allow this kind of stuff to get published. What is your trade if not language? It seems Ynet editors have no idea of its awesome power. I say fire the editors.
54. "Shiksa" isn't as derogatory as people think
Californian ,   San Diego, CA, USA   (08.06.10)
I said it above (comment #9). "Shiksa," in my experience, is not necessarily a word meant to have a derogatory meaning, usually just (very mildly) pejorative meaning. What's my experience, you ask? My mother and grandmother speak Yiddish. I spent several years in a Jewish community in NYC. All you haters comparing the word "shiksa" with outright bigotry need to get a life.
55. A shiksa is a shiksa
Shalom ,   Ashdod, Israel   (08.06.10)
even if she is the daughter of losers like the Clintons.
56.  # 51 LUCKY ESCAPE
jiacomino ,   huddersfield UK   (08.06.10)
Commiserate and feel sorry for her new husband ,
57. Chelsea and Marc are.....
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (08.06.10)
.... 2 US citizens, who married each other. End of story.
58. 54
kelly ,   toronto   (08.06.10)
If enough people are offended by a word (as shown in the many posts here), and you are aware of this yet still use the word, then the word is offensive and so are you. What is the need to describe Chelsea in "mildly pejorative" terms? Marc broke Jewish law, not her.
59. #50 - this is what I was getting at...
Dorothy Friends ,   Tel Aviv   (08.06.10)
...thanks for detailing it. But many Israelis don't care about who is called what, unless a Jew is called something offensive. They insist on using the term Negro, saying, well, there is nothing wrong with it, it is a good Hebrew word, even though they know that Blacks and African Americans hate it.
60. 54 right - 'shiksa' not that bad
Joel ,   Jerusalem & NY   (08.06.10)
despite the word's linguistic origin, it has a very very mild derogatory meaning. in fact in present day Israel it is often used in a positive way (as in "dating a shiksa is a great thing" - meaning that by dating non-jewish women you avoid the negative aspects/stereotypes associated with jewish women). get over yourselves people
