121. Messianic Jews need a Jainism Chakra-Hamsah too
david   (08.21.10)
Why should they not be as pagan as those they try to mimic? Jainism compared to Kabbalah and Hamsah and its brother symobl once used in Israel - the Jainism Hook-Cross. We know the curses yet walk the same path to choose death.
122. Small-mindedness
David Alan Brooks ,   Holyhead, Wales   (08.21.10)
How sad to see that twenty-first century souls, who have been blessed with an innate capacity to understand the real world if only they would apply their twenty-first century minds and the advances of science and scholarship to their silly religious arguments, still fulminate in the same backward terms resorted to by ignorant men of bygone ages -- men who simply knew no better. I have Jewish blood, but was brought up as a "Christian" (by adult enforcement and manipulation, of course, because no child can possibly understand complex beliefs that have been the source of age-old disagreements and mutual slaughter). Unlike many of you, however, I have allowed my adult brain and my humanity to steer me through life rather than the demented demands of tyrannical ancient gods. What I value most is compassion and kindness -- and a deep respect for our planet and the less fortunate souls we abuse in our ungodly greed and hatred of those who are different. If your gods cannot elicit a similar drive for truth and decency in their cringing followers, please keep them. They hardly seem worthy of worship -- a perspective that seems to be strengthened by their very demand to be worshipped. Why, exactly, do your gods have such a manic need to have men and women grovelling at their feet? When humans reveal such a need, they disgust us. Perhaps you should expect more from your gods. Or perhaps you should put your energies into making the world a beautiful, harmonious place rather than an arena of conflict and hatred, encouraged by your gods, or at least by those who champion them. Yes, how sad. Sad too that my own idealism steers me into similar realms of disrespect. I apologize for that, but I simply cannot fully respect those who value the ignorant writings of ancient men more than they value the determined pursuit of truth and reason in all things. Our salvation -- which to me is our very survival on this planet rather than a selfish desire to enjoy the delights of heaven -- depends upon such a pursuit. Religion and material greed are, in my view, the greatest barriers to our ever being able to live in harmony on a thriving, healthy planet. My appeal to anyone who is listening is this: have your quaint, sometimes charming, beliefs if they comfort you, but keep them mostly to yourself, and put an end to the insanity that suggests that everyone else needs to be converted to your evidence-bereft points of view. It will never happen. Demonstrable truths (like the moon's effect on the tides) are inevitably eventually accepted by almost everyone, but religious beliefs never will be. And cannot be. Ultimately, they are a source only of discord and misery -- and slaughter. Read your history. It teaches thinking men and women more valuable lessons than any Torah or Bible or Koran or Bhagavad Gita ever can. A future world, if we have one, will need to have relegated ancient tales, written by often well-meaning but woefully ignorant men, to fascinating cultural artefacts, and will similarly need to have placed reason and deep respect for evidence-based truth at the very apex of our ideals and our dreams for a meaningful existence in this marvellous, mysterious universe.
123. 119 + 120 , writing on Shabbat is not allowed
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.21.10)
You must rest this day . Only seculars and FAKE Jews do it . You're in the second category , cross adorers .
124. 123 proven urself a FAKE

126. Messianic Jews
Philippa Druce ,   Jersey, U.K   (08.21.10)
Wow I really enjoyed your article on the Messianic Jewish community in Israel. I believe that Jews and Gentiles believing in Jesus are engrafted together. Christianity was never meant to be a seperate branch. Prehaps now is the time that believers will come together as one, and I am excited about the return of Jesus to Israel. The Jewish people have such a heritage, and I love learning about Jewish culture.
127. It depends on how you look at it
daniel ,   Belgium   (08.21.10)
For me being jewish means having jewish blood. So you can convert 100 times and still be jewish. I do not consider as Jewish those who from Yemeni, Ethopia or Mauritania (not sephardi).
128. To#98Charles
thinkagain ,   jjerusalem   (08.21.10)
Why is learning the jewish students their own culture, by those who know it thoroughly, brainwashing?
129. clowns
Eric ,   Amsterdam Holland   (08.21.10)
John, a clown makes his job to make pople laugh, he changes his dress, he changis his behaviour to make people laugh. I know the difference between a clown and somebody who follows a belief. You know it too. You are a mocker
130. WHo is Messianic Jews' GOD ?
TSION ,   JERUSALEM israel   (08.22.10)
The article is good but the real faith of Messianic Jews is not clearly described Most of who are called Messianics not only believe that Yeshua is the promise Messiah: they share the christian dogma of Trinity, so they generally believe Yeshua is not a MAN, but he is God (the SOn) who masqueraded into a man Further, most of them consider the torah of Moses is done away with People should also know that most Messianic Assemblies are Christian-foreign-sponsored Despite these general beliefs directly copied from pagan Christianity (Emperor Constantin), there a remnant of believers in Yeshua who know that he is a MAN, a Servant & Prophet of ISRAEL sent by ELOHIM, not to abolish the Torah but to fulfill it so that his followers can fulfill it
131. OK, so don't believe... Read Isaiah 53 and see for
believer ,   US   (08.22.10)
yourself. It's all there in black & white.
132. Messianics
Anne ,   Jackson USA   (08.22.10)
What if we were to view all people as we are described in Scripture . . . All of us have erred, all of us have gone astray! Then we might see each other with more kindness and patience. Then we might speak to each other with civility. Then we might learn more from each other, as we speak to each other of Scripture. If we were to treat each other well, we might inspire others to treat us well. I believe that at least some of the Messianics interviewed are mistaken in their understandings. However, if we treated them with kindness and patience, and listened to them, they might also listen to us. They might learn from us, and we might even learn something of value from them. Of course, Christianity is not Judaism. But sometimes Christians are Jews on their way back to Judaism. Many Jewish children have been ripped from the faith of their fathers and have been raised as Catholics or atheists. Some have been rescued from death and raised as Pentecostals or evangelicals. And many of them are on their way back to Judaism via Messianism. Many are leaving pagan traditions and are embracing Torah. May we give them grace in their journey of discovery? Some are like the children of Israel who left Egypt, and are just learning Torah one step at a time. Sure, they will need to drop every vestige of paganism, from holidays to statues, but celebrate the process of return. We then get to party together, guests, hosts, and honorees. Shalom Aleinu!!
133. i agree
WENDELL ,   GASTONIA NC USA   (08.22.10)
Just a few miles west of you my friend. i just stumbled into this blog. kinda crazy. a lot of misinformation mistrust which bring confusion among Yeshua's people. it is said in may places of ONE NEW MAN . Christian / Jew. i wonder at times if this will ever really work. not everyone who says Lord Lord will be accepted @ messiah's return.... BLESSINGS TO ALL IN YESHUA...
134. To "observer'' #89 and other Khazaric belivers
Tom ,   Serbia   (08.22.10)
Khazaric theories are death.Modern genetics proved the comon Israelite-Middle Eastern origin of all Jewish groups except Ethiopians.Read genetic science.Read Behar, Hammer, Nabla, Shen, Thomas, Semino, Cruciani, Atzmon and many other leading genetic scientists
135. very heart warming I might add
ghostq   (08.22.10)
this is great to know that someone trully practice judaism,
136. To 128 , thinkagain
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.22.10)
Given by Orthodox it is . They have to learn the HISTORY of our people , not the laws . You know wehat the Rambam said ; the torah is : ve'ahavta et re'echa , all the rest are comments .
137. 124 , you just prove that you can't read
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.22.10)
138. #131 Hahaha Isaiah 53 is past tense & before Jesus
Josh   (08.22.10)
Rigt there in black and white! If it was over 200 generations before Jesus was repored to have been born, how do you see it as a prediction? Certainly not a predictive prophecy.
139. #127 Torah is according to Paternal (Fathers) blood.
Josh   (08.22.10)
The corruptors of Torah are the ones who made the women determination of who is Jewish is of course an illegal addition. Because they changed this Jesus who is not fathered by any tribe of Israel was considered a ew via his mother. Thank the Rabbis for Jesus being considered by the Jewish sect as qualified to be a Messiah. Devrim 13 of course disqualfies those who fail its test.
140. #130 So if he was god, then who forsake him in the garden?
Josh   (08.22.10)
Obviously the truth lies in the fact that the man was forsaken. More so why? Sinner? Forsken? Born in a barn with animals. Bethrothed vrgin "found" with a baby. Wrath of heaven? Brother against brother? Talking with Satan? Get yee behind me? We can put 2 and 2 together to see three doen;t equal one, but rather bad math.
141. To136
thinkagain ,   jerusalem   (08.22.10)
Hilel also said that, while one day a jew asked Hilel ,to learn him the Tora during the time, he is standing on one foot. As students spend years at school, they have the possibility to learn this beautiful maxime "Ve ahavta et Reeha ..." more in dephts.
142. 141 , Thinkagain
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.22.10)
The most important is to act by the Rambam and Hillel's wise words . Those children don't need years of study to know those words , 10 minutes is more than enough . And then they can return to their normal lessons , math's , physics , english and the History of our people .
143. 138 , josh . Isaie over 200 generations before ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.22.10)
That's more than 6000 years ago . You show again your non Jewish head and cross adorer
144. To #142
thinkagain ,   jerusalem   (08.22.10)
Shall we make a deal?10 minutes every day.You see i am not greedy.
145. 144 , Thinkagain . No deal
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.22.10)
10 minutes is more than enough to know "ve'ahavta et re'echa" , no need to waste more time on those three nice smart words . We have aloready more than enough brainwashing and religious coercision here . Don't you look at other tb's ?
146. TO 145 enough brainwashing?
thinkagain ,   jerusalem   (08.22.10)
That proofs that Ynet is not onesided, and gives the readers FREE CHOICE.
147. Correction 138 - 20 generations-same point if one generation
Josh   (08.22.10)
148. 146 , Think again
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.22.10)
You are the first to say that Ynet is not onesided . Other's say Ynet is leftist and anti religious . When i say "here" it's not only Ynet . There are other places who do brainwashing [ parashat hashavua , kryiat shema , mizmor shir leshabbat on reshet Beth ]
149. G-D's Word vs. man's word
MJ Dean ,   Tillamook OR USA   (08.22.10)
It doesn't matter what you say, I say, the rabbi, pastor, priest, imam or any man says. What matters is what G-D's Word has said. He'd send a Savior--The Messiah--and The Tenach tells Who, when, where, how and why. His Word also says that one day EVERY knee will bow before Him, whether you like it or not. And that time seems very close. Zechariah, chapter 12.
150. To#148 That cann t be so bad
