Arab tourists, particularly those from the Gulf, make up almost 20 per cent of the 12 million visitors who come to Egypt annually. Egypt’s tourist industry last year brought in more than US$10 billion in revenue and employs around 12 per cent of the active population. Arab tourists are very important for Egypt, they spend a lot more money than the others, and their stays are much longer
32. To my regret...
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.27.10)
To my regret this behaviour is all too familiar to those of us who travel. It is the same mentality that allows someone to empty the car's ashtray in front of my home, rather than in the bin in front of their own home. I have been embarrassed more than once by impolite and unacceptable behaviour by other Israelis when out of the country. It places me in an uncomfortable position - either I have to apologize for their behaviour or refrain from identifying myself as an Israeli too. How can I apologize for, or explain behaviour that I myself do not understand or accept?
33. Charge their credit cards, what's the problem? Oh wait..
Nour ,   One-State الدولة   (08.27.10)
They have no credit. They steal breakfast buffets for food that would last them all day! The chosen people hah?
34. Israelis
Dennis ,   new jersey   (08.27.10)
I used to work at a hotel in Israel. And I'm Jewish, so no anti-semitism here Israeli are indeed terrible guests. I'd cringe to see an Israeli group arrive, and cringed more after they left when we had to clear the debris and replace our equipment stolen. Seems every Israeli needed to steal towels and silverware. National sport. " magiaya li" syndrome And that was 22 yrs ago! I presume it's worse now.chaval
35. Worst tourists
Nice bloke ,   Rochdale   (08.27.10)
As a Brit I'm ashamed to say the worst tourists are probably the British. I've never seen such drunken loutishness in any other nation.
36. #26 is right
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (08.27.10)
Israel's atrocious litter problem speaks for itself. I used to see my neighbors in Be'er-Sheva pitch trash out their windows, shopkeepers doing the same as they washed their floors, pedestrians bored with their falafals unashamedly tossing the remains on the ground. So many so careless at home - no surprise they behave like pigs abroad. Education for some is futile, but it should be attempted on a broad scale. I love Israel and hate seeing its beauty obscured by trash. Hate the same about Israeli people, so beautiful in so many other ways.
37. Israelis are uneducated people...
PO ,   Rome, ITALY   (08.27.10)
just look how they treat the streets in Tel Aviv: dirty, worste than many towns in Italy. People use bicycles and even motorcycle to travel on the pavements: I risked many times to be struck by them while walking in Allenby street in TA. Not to speak about the behaviour when there is a huge Israeli group travelling in your same airplane: looks like you are in shuk ha'carmel during rush hours. This does not belong to the "chosen people" feeling, nor to the fact that they serve in the IDF. It's the educational system: I never ever met more indulgents parents than the Israeli ones. if I say the word "mefunak" I say it all. Israel is a country I love and I know a lot of good people there, but definitely this aspect MUST change.
38. listen don't just read
Ilana   (08.27.10)
I hear absolute glee in the written words here against Israelis. Like cream for a cat, they lap up anything bad about about Israelis. I see them licking their lips and salivating. The pleasure they get in saying"light unto nations!" or "chosen people" show how these phrases drive them insane with jealousy and then they get orgasms everytime some information is given that proves to them that perhaps this is not really true-I guess they have been doing some serious wondering on this issue... Some Israelis behave badly, some don't. I have experienced it myself. I have also experienced a group of south african male tourists drinking beer all night , banging on guests' doors, calling a black man passing by a "Kaffer", making a huge noise, climbing the pool fence for a 3am swim. Until the hotel called the police we all suffered. So are south africans all trash? All prejudiced? No. Of course, if one is wolf looking for prey, one will always find it. If one is looking for bad, one will find it. If you look for good, you will also find it and plenty of it.
39. i love israel but we must admitt that education is a problem
dovdevan ,   paris,france   (08.27.10)
i used to work at coral beach CLub MED " in eilat and i saw very bad behaviour from the part of the israeli tourist . people are very unpolite with the foreigners and they behave like animals in the restaurant and there were the same critics coming from antalya 's hotels . i think it's a problem of education and the state of israel should take this proplem very seriously because the tourists represent their country abroad

Duchess   (08.27.10)
One error in your post. Israelis rarely rarely throw food and it is taboo to throw bread on the ground or even in a garbage can. People hang it on the handle of the can but cannot actually throw it out. Litter? yes I agree. Food-no way.
41. To #14: Not related to the IDF
Joel ,   London, UK   (08.27.10)
I agree that Israeli tourists are renowned around the world for being among the worst and I don't believe that this is simply anti-semitism. It is a genuine concern that must be addressed. However, I fail to see how this is in any way related to the IDF? Why does everything relating to Israel and Israelis always come back to the IDF even when the topic is totally unrelated?
42. to Mr.Italy
Mark   (08.27.10)
I just love how Venice is "so clean". I love the clean water there. I love how the French just throw their cigarette butts on the floor in cafes. They don't ever use ashtrays. The pickpockets all over Europe I love even more. My warning to any who travel to Europe-hold onto your bags tightly. The stories I can tell on this one-whew! What a bunch of thieves live there in Europe!
43. The Dutch complain about Germans trashing Zaandvoort
aliza ,   Israel   (08.27.10)
beach during the summer vacation. Most Eurpeans are disgusted by Aussie tourists vomiting on the pavements after their well known heavy drinking behaviour. So Israelis are leave towels on the bathroom floor and are a bit loud. Seems the motive behind these Italian hotels is anti-semitism to single out Israelis.
44. #40 Unfortunately true...
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (08.27.10)
"it is taboo to throw bread on the ground" That may be, Duchess - but like the anti-litter laws, it is largely ignored, unreprimanded, common behavior. I saw it all the time, adults and kids both.
45. Please don't generalize
Johnny ,   Nazareth   (08.27.10)
I just came back from Sermione,Italy, a beautiful place. Although that Sermione was full of Israeli, the Italians and the Spanish were the most uneducated for me, they were loudy, on the beach some italians put their towels on mine, in the hotel the spanish were loudy till 1 A.M.. The Israeli were acting normaly, Maybe the italians should learn some english, if you ask them a question they respond in italian. One can't just generalize and say all the israeli are uneducated, you can't imagine the actions of some english tourists in Sermione, disgusting,
46. Loove Israelis!
Sybil ,   Germany   (08.27.10)
I love Israelis and their chuzpah! And come on, Towels on the floor - is that so bad? In most hotels you HAVE to do that in order for them to get cleaned. And what is so bad about wanting to sit together?Just because other nations are not as social as Israelis or simply to scared to do that, does not mean Israelis are in the wrong. Quiet the opposite! They know how to live and get what they pay for - good food - and some extra fruits from the breakfast buffet ;)
47. sadly its true...
elle kaye ,   TLV   (08.27.10)
i have lived in Israel for 8 years and israelis have no idea how to treat people, places or things with repsect...e.specially other people's property......and never want to pay for anything...and over the years watching them "steal " food from hotels is embarrassing.......its hard bringing up civilized children here......they are warm people but their behaviour is embarrassing
48. the army turn them crazies
ivan ,   haifa   (08.27.10)
I live abroad, once I invited an israeli friend and everyone here hated him due educative problems.
49. No. 19 Yehuda
NYC Girl   (08.27.10)
I suspect you don't see too many Israeli women picking their noses in public because it's not necessarily an Israeli habit. It's a male habit...and a disgusting one at that But it doesn't seem to respect any national boundaries.
50. Poor role models.
Ocker ,   Israel   (08.27.10)
What do you expect when Israel contains a heap of immoral, dishonest role models such as former Presidents, one an indicted rapist, corrupt, fraudulent and money laundering Prime Ministers and many Knesset ministers sitting in Jail.
51. property respected in SA?
Sylvi ,   Frankfurt   (08.27.10)
right...in South Africa your property is respected - is that why you get killed for your mobile phone and is that why you have to live in electric fences? Besides, towels on the floor is not abuse. In most hotels in Europe you are asked to leave the towels on the floor so that the service team knows you want them to get cleaned.
52. ISRAELI TOURISTS
MAURICE ,   BRUSSELS   (08.27.10)
I am jewish ang I come regularly to Israel I am ashamed when I see how Israelis behave in their own country's hotels and restaurants as well as in the hospital's waiting room It's no wonder you have a very bad reputation abroad and it is fully justified because you lack EDUCATION.THE WORLD IS NOT ALL YOURS FELLOWS
53. truth mixed with fantasy
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (08.27.10)
Every nationality has its' boors. Reading the article-I saw some behavior which is really objectionable. Taking breakfast food for lunch--that is stealing, ordering and refusing to pay--stealing too! Leaving dirty diapers--disgusting and trash all over--not necessary. BTW trash on some Israeli beaches is pervasive and I hate when people ( of ALL nationalities) use the sand as their ash tray!! BUT towels on the floor--as others have said, a sign in many places to change the towel--c'mon it isn't a big deal for housekeeping to bend down and pick it up!! The pics of the bed stripped to the mattress--shouldn't be a big deal, I assume between guests it was going to, or SHOULD be stripped down anyway! Bottom line, going on vacation doesn't give anyone the right to be a pig. Are Israeli's worse than others?-Well the mess on the beach I swim at in Netanya is left by French--and I"m sure other places have other Nationalities "pigging" out.
54. Publish the names of the culprits
bob ,   potomac usa   (08.27.10)
I'm sure that some of these disgrntled hoteliers would give the names of these culprits--and their names should be published on the internet for all to see
55. Sounds typical Israeli to me and that okay.
JMK ,   NYC   (08.27.10)
Israelis are all refugees from religious hate, they are not alive today for being losers they are the winners and the rest of the world can go to hell.
56. We Spoke Of This On Ynet Interhome Thread Not One Week Ago
World Citizen ,   the world   (08.27.10)
And when I posted about the infantile and disgusting behavior of Israeli tourists I was called a liar and an anti-semite. Well if telling the truth is anti-semitic then I for one am a proud anti-semite! Your culture of choseness has real consequences. Think about it.
57. Towels on the floor
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (08.27.10)
In most hotels these days (Hilton and the Hilton Group hotels, Starwood group hotels etc) there is a note in every room indicating that in order to save energy patrons can either decide to re use the same towels - in which case they should store them properly - or if they want them to be replaced to leave them on the floor. This has been the norm in all American hotels as well as in most big hotel chains around the world. This small Italian Bed and Breakfast type hotel should tell their patrons about their different policies. And here is one of my experiences with Italy. In 1973 I took a ferry boat from Izmir to Brindisi with my parent's canvas top Firebird. While I was checking out the customs someone tore the canvas top of the car with a knife and stole my luggage and Pentax camera. This happened inside the bonded area protected by the Customs staff. Now shall I say TUTTI ITALIANI LADRONI? Individual incidents that's all. However Italian
58. Slovenly Israelis
Andrea ,   ASHDOD   (08.27.10)
Oh what a disgrace! I have been living in Israel or 20 years as a proud Jewish SOUTH AFRICAN and I always feel ashamed when I travel with my Israeli passport. Something has to be uregently done to teach these people some manners.
59. Unfortunately true
Michel ,   Jerusalem   (08.27.10)
And I use my second passport and address to get a better room as hotel managers fear the Israelis. They are right but I'll say the same about the American, the Chinese and the Romanian.. So ?
60. #49 NYC Girl
yehuda ,   israel   (08.27.10)
Nope. It's women just as often as men. My wife says to a friend of hers who picks her nose, 'What are you doing?" She responds, "Stam." My wife then says, "Don't do it." I traveled quite a bit prior to making aliyah and I ain't never seen so many people with fingers in their noses. Don't get me started about the spitting, the lack of door-holding, or how shop-owners think they're doing their customers a favor.
