1. PROUD OF ISRAEL
Alicia Cohen ,   Santiago de Chile   (08.31.10)
I neve felt so proud of Israel. I see this movement growing and I am more and more convinced that there are good Israelis that suffered like we suffered in Chile during Pinochets. Adelante, amigos, let's put an end to ocupation and restore Israel's image. I am so proud of Israel (within the Green Line, let me clear).
2. Students should boycott these traitors.
Albert V. ,   NY, NY, USA   (08.31.10)
No need to learn anything from those who discriminate other students citing inexistent "laws", and hiding behind "academic freedom". If they abuse, distort and prostitute the spirit of the "academic freedom", then they have no place in "educating" anybody. Let them spend their time in self-hate orgies, and become the darlings of the Islamo-Leftist international anti-Israeli frenzy. These traitors, lecturers and "artists" alike, are the main reason bloodthirsty genocidal terrorists like Ahmedinejad and Naslrallah can claim that the "Zionist Regime" will die soon. I shall be talking with sponsors and donors in my area to stop funding these traitors' projects, and I will encourage others to spread the word. There is no point in financing traitors!
3. Good for him the voice of sanity is becoming louder
Haim ,   Tel Aviv   (08.31.10)
and louder and now not just from outside Israel, if there was a public referndum tommorw the Israeli public would vote overwhelmingly in support of withdraw from the occupied west bank and they know it. Ask your selves if the right wing were so confident they would have agreed to a public referendum years ago, instead of gaining public support they alianted themselves from the voting public in an intense hatred towards anyone secular brading anyone who had a differnce of opinion as a traitor when in fact they are the true traitors. We are no longer prepared to pay the price so they can live in their fancy villas. They dont need to move let them become part of Palestine then they will have a taste of their own medicine.
4. Can any of these leftists name what country we are occupying
Jay3 ,   Israel   (08.31.10)
Traitors to the state. But if the ARabs ever get their own bogus state in WB and missiles reign down on Tel Aviv, they would change their tune.
5. TO ALL ACADEMICIANS, ACTORS AND AUTHORS....
FO ,   Belgium   (08.31.10)
I suppose you all know, as well as I do, that there are NO occupied territories. The 24th of July 1922, the League of Nations gave the Jews the IRREVOCABLE RIGHT to settle anywhere in the area between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, including the Golan Heights, a right unaltered in INTERNATIONAL LAW, and valid to this day due to ARTICLE 80 of the CHARTER of the UNITED NATIONS. In 1922 and futher on, the Left in control of the Zionist Organization, disowned the creation of the Jewish State in this area, as suggested by the League of Nations (The RECONSTITION of the NATIONAL HOME). This foolish blindness was going to cost the Jewish People the SHOAH. This part of history is exactly what the leftists of today, who are the heirs of the leftists of yesterday, are trying to arase by their disastrous behaviour.
6. boycott
frank ,   israel   (08.31.10)
I agree it is shameful. I am against the occupation and those arab occupiers should immediately leave our territority! Who gives them the right to occupy our lands? What international body allows such flagrant flanting of the laws. They are serious occupiers and the fact that we are trying to help them should not keep us from what is ours and throwing those occupiers out!!!! Oh, that is not the occupation those quislings are referring to? Then why did our brave soldiers die when attacked? What where we fighting for? This is our land, our blood protected it from hostile enemy invaders and these "few" misguided are doing what for this country??? Actors? Economists? Since when are actors such skilled politically astute individuals that we should listen to them? Economist/chemistry professors? Really, now they are versed in politics?????? How about the average person on the street, the one that works, lives and dies for the country. If we were good enough to die for our land, we should be good enough to live for it also! I say boycott these actors and "professors" ....pieces of garbage that get the media attention. Why isn't the average person entitled to their opinion in the press in a meaningful way???? Why does this disgruntal bunch of non-entities favor an article...what about the majority of the country? Don't they account for anything in the yellow press????
7. Surely we've sinned....!
tom ,   tel aviv   (08.31.10)
We (The Jews) must have done something very, very wrong somewhere &sometimes...to be punished by a group of mutant brothers like the Artists, the Lecturers, the Grossmans, the Oz, the Shmoz and God knows what else?! If you own a store: don't sell to them, if you are a waiter don't serve them, if you are a decent, jewish woman deny them sex, -get the idea?
8. The reason I hate anti-semites is because they act like the
The Dude   (08.31.10)
leftists from Tel-Aviv.... Cut off state funding to them. You have to the right to free speech but not to state funding.
9. academic, shmacademic
Eddie ,   london UK   (08.31.10)
A lecturer in university is simply a schoolteacher with a higher degree. Of course they have a democratic right to do as they wish. They will also one day concede the Galilee to the Palestinian state, . And when there is a war, they will chose to be dhimmi rather than to fight.
10. Give up on state grants & retire, or shut up & suck up
A ,   Hinatan   (08.31.10)
F* leftishs want to eat the cake and have it
11. Boycott the boycotters
ezer   (08.31.10)
This is not only scandalous but also stupid. Ariel is no more 'occupied' than Tel Aviv. What is the difference? the 49 line is simply an armistice line so the argument can equally be made that if Ariel is illegitimate so is Tel Aviv.
12. Traitors in bed with media propagander
Prince ,   Niger Delta, Nigeria   (08.31.10)
I know that that the cultural performance has started and that some of these artists were deceived into signing this shameful paper. Of course Ynet refuses to tell us that some boycotters have repented and are now doing the show with thousands begging to take over from leftist artists. The left will always be in minority in Israel and I say Amen to it.
13. Re #3 sanity and Jew-free zones
Andrew Brehm   (08.31.10)
The call for Jew-free zones is the voice of sanity? I wonder if we can ask the terrorists to fire only at the houses of those who thought it would be a good idea to give up the land.
14. We'll stay with Professor Aumann
surprised...not   (08.31.10)
a true and real Israeli. Never could stand wimps especially 'educated' (lol) ones. As Tuvya said 'May Gd bless and keep them...far away from us' They probably sneer at Tuvya too, the 'educated' wimps society. That too is ok with us, the majority
15. :: And so it begins...
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (08.31.10)
It is very heartening to see this Israeli boycott movement grow so quickly. Hopefully individual Israeli Trade Unions will join up as well (not Histadrut of course). As to those who call for a boycott the boycotters, sure go ahead and boycott entertainment, reading, education etc by doing so you are just becoming more ignorant.
16. :: Let them play in Gaza
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (08.31.10)
These disgusting and self loathing Israeli who have the cheek to call themselves the elite of society should be rounded up and shipped off to Gaza!!! There is no place in Israel for these back stabbers.
17. What do these so called Academics want ?
aline silverman ,   gedera   (08.31.10)
Living in the ivory tower of the Academic world they have become completely out of touch with reality....Ariel is part of the consensus in Israel. Even the OTHER side agrees with it....and all this just before the PEACE talks , undermining the country they live in. It is suicidal !!!!
18. Response to " The Dude" (# 8)
flyingdoc57 ,   Florida, U.S.A.   (08.31.10)
While I don’t agree with these actors and lecturers I do agree that they should be able to refuse to part take in any event or location they morally disagree with. Cutting off state funding is not the answer, if you agree that these people have the right to free speech but not to state funding then you must also agree that rightwing actors and lectures also have the right to free speech but not to state funding. You see you cannot discriminate between free speech by cutting off funding for one group and not the other. In a democratic state both sides must be treated equally otherwise you end up with a fascist state which unfortunately seems to be the road Israel is traveling.
19. :: #16
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (08.31.10)
Give it up you are not fooling anyone.
20. they should move to gaza with the neturei karta
(08.31.10)
the arabs will use them as tools prior to their move to gaza and target practice after. They'll remain useful idiots in both cases!
21. Response to " The Dude" (# 8)

22. LEFTIST ACADEMICS ARE TRAITORS
David   (08.31.10)
23. Chile!? then get out of occupied Bolivian territory!!
Nadav ,   tlv   (08.31.10)
Ms "Cohen", you're a hypocrite just like the other Leftists- why are you not calling for your country to withdraw from territories it conquered by force from Bolivia and Peru because of sheer greed?! Samaria and Judea are JEWISH lands- recognized by all civilized people. the so called "palestinians" are a Nasserite, fabricated identity
24. tel aviv?
nadav ,   tlv israel   (08.31.10)
excuse me, but I live in tel aviv, i am gay, and i am VERY Right-wing- don't generalize. there are plenty of Leftist religious people in Jerusalem!! (R. Melchior, is just one of them)
25. Cut their funds!
right wing nut   (08.31.10)
Shut those schools, who needs them anyway! - right wing nut
26. to #15 it doesn't grow, you just didn't know about it
ghostq   (08.31.10)
but inreality it will just make a damn fine background to budjet cuts, you see the monthly paycheck all these people get from the gov which can stop the money to people who do not like her policy. ti hi, someone say unemployment, I do.
27. to #3 :) if you support this than when some artists
ghostq   (08.31.10)
or education people won't come to arab areas, don't whine it can work both ways. :)
28. Parasites
Raphael ,   Netanya   (08.31.10)
If you are a baker or a tailor, and your products are rubbish, no customer buys from you. As if you are an artist and your production is pure rubbish, you may pretend to a brilliant career, provided you belong to the stalinist mafia that dictates artistic standards. Relying upon taxpayer's money is the most efficient way towards sterility and conformism (and in the case of this mafia, anticonformist conformism, as well as antiracist antisemitism). Taxpayers are also electors, and theur choice should be respected.
29. Academics such as Neve Gordon and
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (08.31.10)
Shlomo Sand have signed these documents. Supporting people like that is like committing national suicide in order to maintain unfettered free speech and unfettered professional behaviour. While they have a right not to perform nor lecture in Ariel, the government of Israel also has the right to impose consequences for their actions.
30. To 18 Flyingdoc57, flat out you're wrong
The Dude   (08.31.10)
"I do agree that they should be able to refuse to part take in any event or location they morally disagree with." "Cutting off state funding is not the answer" While agree with you on the first count, on the second put simply you're flat out wrong. The reason is very simple, state funding is not some outside source of money. This is the collective wealth of Israel, in other words, the money that is collected not only from Tel-Aviv but also from the entirety of the 'periphery', which includes Ariel, Haifa, and all other Israeli cities. This means that the collective of the Israeli population is paying these people's salaries such that they entertain and educate THE COLLECTIVE population, not specific segments that the artists choose! If the artists does not want to entertain specific segments of a population, then they cannot receive funding from the state, as the state cannot selectively flow taxes from one area to only that area. Thus if they want to boycott and selectively choose where they wish to entertain, that is fine! However, then they must get funding from THOSE areas, i.e., from the ticket sales/donations from the residents of Tel-Aviv, the taxes collected from specifically the city of Tel-Aviv, or where ever they are performing. While many in Tel-Aviv may jump to this idea, I would like to point out that paying the salaries of all these boycotters means that this money has to come out of the services paid for by the Tel-Aviv municipality. So put bluntly, choose between the theater or your garbage being picked up, we'll see which one wins out in the end. So flyingdoc57, this is quite literally like Federal government collecting taxes from each state but refusing services to Florida for whatever reason. You can't do it from the collective money of the country. "In a democratic state both sides must be treated equally otherwise you end up with a fascist state which unfortunately seems to be the road Israel is traveling. " Yes, you are correct in this point, but equal treatment is not a right to state subsidization. Maybe Obamanomics has taught you to accept a Nanny state, but this isn't the case! If for example right wing performers, Profs, and so on refused to work in Tel-Aviv the same ruling would apply! They would then need to find private or local sources of funding, but could not be dependent on national level taxes. The fact is that just because the state doesn't pay you for your opinion, is not facism! And to expand, just because you the RIGHT to say something does mean the state must support this financially, especially in this day and age where communicating to the masses is very is essentially free.
