1) Israel is immediately recognized by Abbas&Co as Jewish, democratic, Zionist state. 2) Everyone currently considered a refugee by UNRWA immediately awarded a permanent residence permit (with the right to apply for citizenship after several years) in one of 22 Arab countries. 3) The anti-Israeli radio, TV, etc. propaganda stops. 4) School textbooks rewritten in 2 months and will no longer contain "right of return", "Jerusalem as capitol", etc. 5) All Hamas operatives in Judea and Samaria arrested and exchanged with Gaza for Gilad. Did I miss something ?

Why doesn't Obama pressure Abbas to issue a formal declaration recognizing the right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland? Why doesn't Obama insist that Fatah and all the other Palestinian organizations repudiate their charters which call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people? There is nothing to "negotiate" about this rather simple request. It's a simple and straightforward quid pro quo. Unless and until, Israel should continue to build, and not limitedly either.

Americans and European promises have fallen flat for decades. Israel's gift ten months ago was a one time deal. And many on the right and center would like another election to be on the PLO/Hamas and a referendum on the empty promises of the Americans and Europeans.

EVERY concession, every ''goodwill gesture'', every withdrawal, has been forgotten immediately afterwards. Then, it starts all over with new demands for concessions, always more concessions. And every time, the argument is the same, this particular concession is the key to ''peace'' - But it never is. And does anyone care if the Palestinians renege? Does anyone insist on reciprocal concessions? No. We will be ''concessioned'' out of existence.

What will change? So in two months, the freeze will end again & Abbas will start singing the same song. It should be obvious that this is all about American domestic politics, specifically the upcoming Congressional elections when, by all accounts, there will be a Tsunami & Democrats will be washed away.
