61. #57 are you out of your mind?
Ibrahim ,   Ankara, Turkey   (12.03.10)
We are not sending an aircraft carrier for gods sake when did Fire fighting aircraft become offensive weapons. Also can you please tell me when the Turks said they wanted to wipe Israel of the map? Grow up. Turkish-Israeli relations have never fallen that low!! We only have political differences. Thats all.
62. What mindsets some people have
John H ,   NZ   (12.03.10)
Several of these talkbackers need to wake up to themselves. So quick off the mark to critcize Turkey and the US for supposedly not helping, others tying it to political views that have no place whatsoever in such an emergency. Get a heart and a life!!
63. EGYPTIANS ARE PRAYING FOR ISRAEL
Mohmed ,   Alexandria, Egypt   (12.03.10)

66. Tragic-Mostly Palestinian inmates Saved. The love of the....
Alastair Murray ,   Australia   (12.03.10)
Jewish People is boundless!! Love and Condolences to the families of the wonderful people who have lost their lives saving the lives of others. But that is the Israeli way, the Jewish way, and Yeshua's Way! G-d's Chosen are in Our Prayers This Day.
67. That is really amazing
Justin ,   Canada   (12.03.10)
and so kind of all these countries.
68. 62 well said. also too many aircraft dangerous in small area
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (12.03.10)
Carmel Mnts are what 7km by 12km, so fire while very dangerous due to drought is likely somewhat limited in size, so aircraft have to be careful not to hit each other. So what good is have 50 aircraft if you can only use 5 or 10 on the fire itself.
69. Thanks for your kind wishes Mohamed
Rashi ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (12.03.10)
Thank you for your kind wishes Mohamed. Truly appreciate your thoughts.
70. 10 countries? That'st it?
Talula ,   Israel   (12.03.10)
Considering we offer immediate assistance and are airborne within hours to assist countries in distress, diplomatic relations or not , I think it's a pretty poor show.
71. Keep politics out of this
Art ,   Sydney   (12.03.10)
Yes, please people let's just keep politics out of this and be grateful to ALL those countries that have offered help. While this is a huge tragedy for Israel, not only those killed but for the whole nation and the Jewish diaspora as well, it is heartwarming to know that amid the gloom Israel does have some friends in the world. Thanks to everyone who is helping us in our hour of need. Greek and Bulgarian firefighters are now risking their lives and battling shoulder to shoulder with our own heroic firefighters, to save our brothers and sisters. Let's be grateful to them and let us tell them that loud and clear. That Israel and the whole Jewish world is thankful and deeply grateful to all countries that are helping us in our hr of need. If the boot is ever on the other foot, we will help them to.
72. Response BY #1
Charles ,   Paris, FRANCE   (12.03.10)
First, my comment that Turkey won't help was written BEFORE Turkey agreed to help. As I read the news this morning, it's clear that I was not prescient. But I still wonder about their motivation. Now, if only France would get off it's ass and offer help.....
73. This is common humanity, not politics !
Remy   (12.03.10)
Those devastating fires keep happening in Southern Europe and all countries able to help send help, it is self-evident, nothing to do with liking or disliking a particular government !
74. Thank you to the nations...
Tel Aviv Daromi ,   Israel   (12.03.10)
Thank you to all nations who have put any differences aside and have come to our rescue. At the end of the day, we are all people and something like this can happen anywhere. I will take note of what countries came to our aid, and I will make those countries a priority when planning my next vacation. I will urge my friends around the world to do the same. And, I hope our Government of Tourism promotes all nations who have come to assist us, and will urge Israelis to spend their shekels in those countries on their next vacations. May G-D Bless. Shalom

Jo ,   Israel   (12.03.10)
89. The ghastly BBC does it again!
Tim ,   Brighton   (12.03.10)
In a very short report of the fire on TV last night another example of the Anti Israel Point Scoring Culture that pervades BBC News. It seems they cannot help themselves when it comes to reporting about Israel! Last night just TWO aspects to the tragedy were reported 1. The tragic death of the Coach of Prison Officers 2. The condition of Palestinian Prisoners in a nearby prison No mention of the local geography, the noble and grateful foreign offers of help, the struggle to keep the fire under control, the evacuation of civilians.... To coin a familiar phrase This is not just the British Broadcasting Company Its the Biased/Bullshit Broadcasting Company Can someone please get rid of that nasty odour?
90. We should have an fire defense organization
Yossef   (12.03.10)
for all countries around the Mediterranean sea to fight such disasters, common mean: planes, helicopters, people ready to move... This must be a lesson for all of us because it can happen to any of us.
