31. "Disastrous choice" of foreign affair minister by PM
Dr. R. Grynpas ,   Brussels, Belgium   (12.29.10)
Dear Sir, The opinion of Professor Dror Zeevi could not be more politicaly correct. Living in one of the most antisemitic country of the EU, it will certainly serve as another "rational" argument to deligitimize the very existence of the Jewish state. The problem with this sort of blunder is as if to solve a problem, the last thing to do would be to formulate it clearly. What seems to incommodate the Professor is that Mr. A. Lieberman formulates without any artifice what are the problems facing the Jewish State. Since the left is basically immoral, such an attitude is unbearable for them. Yours sincerely, Dr. R. Grynpas
32. I believe chief editor in Ynet should fire Ron Ben-Ishai....
Asher ,   NY,USA   (12.29.10)
33. his error: he put truth above the evasions of diplomacy

34. Liberman = Prime Minister
salman   (12.29.10)
Evrybody sees that he is on the way of PM, All the critics are now HOW TO BLOCK HIM THIS WAY. He is exactly what we need in Israel.
35. Lieberman is "Israel's" current bouncer : )
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.29.10)
he the only "JEWISH MAN" WHO CAN guard "Israel's" character. Please next time make sure that Mr. Lieberman will be your Prime Minister ....OK ; )
36. Dreamers dream and hate reality
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.29.10)
Perhaps Abbas or Erdogen would make the Leftists in Israel happy as Israel's Prime Minister. Someone they can be sure will berate Jewish rights, Jewish history and undermine Jewish existence.
37. stop OPEN HOUSE PUBLICITY.....
salman   (12.29.10)
coming to our eyes all the time. It makes nervous, i would never recommend this meeting. Its a violation of the freedom to read the tackback quietly.
38. 19- this is true but israel and in particular liberman are
Dave   (12.29.10)
talking very loud and carry and tiny little stick. Look actions talk louder than words, with all his macho talk israel is more hatred, isolated and de legitimized than ever before. This is happaning on his watch. No words and no talkbacks can change this. he needs to be acountable to israel international standing and resign.
39. Intellektual Fool.
Orao. ,   Srbia.   (12.29.10)
Israels detoriating position in the World, has noting to do with Her actions, but has to do with this - with Talkbacks - http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4005008,00.html One can not by Diplomacy change that. This Author suggests in principle, that the Jews would have been better of, if with smarter policy, negotiating with the Nazis, in times Gone. Professor Dror Zeevi is a lecturer at Ben Gurion University’s Middle Eastern Studies Department An so called Usefull Idiot according to me. Orao.Srbia.
40. Lieberman not a liability at all
Scott ,   Australia   (12.29.10)
Unfortunately, a poor article reflecting unrealistic views. Israel definitely needs someone to stand up to the endless onslaught that appears to endure irrespective of whatever reasonable concessions are offered. Its quite clear to those of us outside that the arab and muslim world straight out refuse to accept Israel in any form and want the inhabitants - dead and the country erased. There is no other conclusion given the facts. "Nice people" ( I believe the author is one of them)who only want the best for the country in actual fact - have no idea that they are playing straight into the hands of the enemy.
41. failed individual?
fail like karl marx   (12.29.10)
i always thought i find the failed under brigdes and in warm places when cold, but not rly in the parliament and the cabinet of a successful state (what a comparison with mugabe...). why shouldn't being a leftist lecturer be a fail, in that sense i regard it as far more failed than being foreign minister. go organize some communities, professor, the 'revolution' comes soon [\irony OFF]
42. Lieberman is the change Israel needs
Michael   (12.29.10)
if you would like to talk about disasterous policies and self inflicting damage caused by politicians Labor has a huge laundry list. If standing up for your country and calling the kettle black is disaterous so be it. But I can't remember the last time Israel actually had a politician with backbone. Good job FM lieberman.
43. Liebermann will be next PM !
Trumpeldor ,   eurabia   (12.29.10)
Am Israel Hai
44. Professor Dror Zeevi
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (12.29.10)
Up to now Professor Dror Zeevi is an ass everyone has sat on except a man. Enter one honest man - Avigdor Liberman . Professor Zeevi reminds me now of the man who is dressed in his best suit and tie, cufflinks spats and all, but there is no wedding to go to.
45. Israel Needs to Change Its Elections
Noah Lev ,   USAHollywood   (12.29.10)
Everyone in Israel's security cabinet should pledge an oath to the P.M., whomever that be. Whether Bibi, or Livni or Yankel Blaustein...your P.M. needs all on the same track. Divided you will fall, united, no one can defeat you..not with 500 nukes on 3 platforms..a better overall policy vis a vie Hamas/Hez..and potential of 55F35s. Abbas is running around the planet lining up yea votes at the UN for statehood, but needs UNSC support. (No way, no how. Israel should annex some W. Bk land..keep remainder open. Build a buffer around with troops in the Jordan Valley and control of borders. Abbas and Brazil can go to you know where. Hey Brazil, are you prepared to send an army to aid your buddies?
46. Palestine Must Be Judenrein
Noah Lev ,   USAHollywood   (12.29.10)
Please everyone, read Michael Orens account of the M.E. and the 67 War. Read Egyptian generals admittance that his miitary knew the location of every Jewish pilot. family and experience. Mubarak decries Egypts failure in allowing the surprise attack, absent which, many more dead Jews. Kassams and Grads, Scud Cs and Ds. aim at civilian targets intentionally. The Intifada 2 was designed to kill innocents. and succeeded.. Now, they demand a state, w/o Israel's blessing. Given their druthers..a Palestine Judenrein..from the sea to the river. Get it, Wake up liberal Jews..your family's necks are on the line. This is the true nature of the conflict.
47. Lieberman is the Best FM Ever!
sean ,   jerusalem   (12.29.10)
He's beginning to, very slowly, undo some of the immense damage that left wingnuts such as the author of this article.
48. Get rid of Lieberman?
Baruch Norman ,   Bet HaKerem   (12.29.10)
No this is wrong. At fault is the electorate for voting in a man with a record of failure and allowing a man who is an overt racists and a criminal under police investigation to be Foreign Minister. In the process we lifted up the rocks and allowed the xenophobes and paranoids and red necks out into the light. We have only ourselves to blame and only we can do anything about it.
49. Popularity of Mr. Lieberman
Jarda ,   Czech Republic   (12.29.10)
is based on populism. He says exactly what his audience wants to hear. And crowd doesn't like rationality. The article of Mr. Dror Zeevi is right. Unfortunately there are not so many people in Israel who are able to see it. But history is full of similar examples. One of the last is Milosevic's Yugoslavia. I guess that popularity of Mr. Lieberman is the best news for every enemy of Israel.
50. leiberman tells it like it is
a ash ,   tel aviv   (12.29.10)
we know he speaks the truth -lets admit it and let the world they want us all dead .
51. #21 - not Livni but Lieberman!
michael peterson ,   London UK   (12.29.10)
"Next thing you know, elections in 2011 and Livni is off to the PM's office!". Livni no longer has any real support and is seem as a political cripple. Lieberman would be the next PM and that is the irony of this idiot's article.
52. Greater Israel
ג 'ון הנביא   (12.29.10)
The dream of Greater Israel will rise from the ashes of the great war to come.
53. Israel needs Lieberman
Brod ,   USA   (12.29.10)
Contrary to this anti-Lieberman article penned by a Leftist, Israel needs more strong leaders like Lieberman. The fact is only strong leaders are respected by the world.
54. #48 - heh heh heh - 12 years and no charges?! Why ?
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (12.29.10)
After 12 years and no proof, the courts said over 6 months ago, "Charge him or get off of the pot", and he as been charged with anything. If you don't think that Lieberman is smart then read this ... Guttman, who served in the National Fraud Unit for 21 years said the image of Lieberman portrayed in the press was very different from the man he had encountered in person. "The man is, in my opinion, the fastest-thinking suspect politician the police have had to face. He will come prepared". "Lieberman does not hide behind his right to remain silent. He won't confess, either. He will give full answers and send police abroad looking for evidence," Guttman said. "He does not stutter, and he is not like Olmert, saying he doesn't remember this or that. He has all the facts in his head, and he does not refer to documents when answering questions".
55. Everything you needed to know about Dror Zeevi
Kate ,   London, UK   (12.29.10)
The title of one of his Ynet articles in 2007: "Give Hamas a chance"
56. What's with it with these accademics?
RayS ,   NH, USA   (12.29.10)
They're all cast in the same mold in Israel as well as the USA and UK..It's the Neville Chamberlain Desease. "Pease in our Time' stupidity that gave theworld war.Peace Through Strength brings real peace. Bless the Foreign Minister. He is the only one still giving an element of honor and respect to Freedom Loving Peoples remaining regard for Israel..The PM and Defense Minister's defeatist attitudes are deadly to Israel's image and status. American youth (Jew & Christian) are repulsed by cowardly political moves. The Islamics ,here in the USA and their camp followers are delighted.
57. From a former student of Ze'evi
Rachel Avraham ,   Be'ersheva, Israel   (12.29.10)
Dr. Ze'evi, You are a wonderful professor and a very nice person, who has written very interesting articles about Ottoman history, but I have to say that I disagree with your conclusions in this article. While Lieberman does indeed lack diplomatic tact, he is not nearly as bad as Mugabe from Zibabwe. Furthermore, a lot of what he is saying, even if it is not politically correct, is the truth. Abbas is not ready for peace with Israel. He refuses to negotiate on a Palestinian right of return, Jerusalem, and a series of other issues. He refuses to even talk to us at present until we give into his threats. Thus, I would hardly call him a partner for peace. Furthermore, Lieberman is not the reason why Israel faces a deteriorated political state. While he has not helped, the reason why things are worse for us is because we have Obama in the White House and he created conditions that made ending settlement construction a pre-condition for negotiations. He is the one that made the Palestinians less able to compromise. I also agree with previous talk-backers that Oslo seriously weakened Israel's diplomatic position as well, in addition to the Gaza withdrawel.
58. i wana move back to israel just.
pini ,   usrael   (12.29.10)
so that i may vote for leiberman for prime minister!
59. 54. Heh heh heh?
Baruch Norman ,   Bet HaKerem   (12.29.10)
So even according to the fraud officer he's a suspect, and that means what to you? That he's OK? That he can be our next Prime Minister? That he can dirty our name internationally? And that's all OK because he's "the fastest-thinking suspect politician the police have had to face". We need a faster thinking fraud investigator to do what the court said. Unless of course you think that it's smart to play games with the legal system and avoid criminal proceedings. The longer that's the case, the longer he's a suspect and not clean of hand or pure of heart, the more unsuitable for public office he is.
60. #9, worse damage than Oslo did?
Danny   (12.29.10)
Don't think so.
