Tear gas is not a deadly weapon, and it is used all over the world for crowd control, in Germany, in US, in Iran, everywhere. It can only directly cause death when used in high concentration in a closed room. In rare cases it can cause severe health complications when people have certain health conditions such as allergies. If you have such a conditions you don't go to violent demonstrations where tear gas may be used.
