61. Rosenfeld
Freha Barblady ,   Gibraltar   (01.08.11)
We do live in a world where there is a preference for people to dwell with those that carry a survival personal elements. There is also an outcry for "a foreign" element to mitigate a form of threat to my own survival, whether its real or just perceived. Just now former UK Foreign Minister, and Home Affairs Minister, came out with an outcry of those "foreign" elements (Pakistanis, in this particular case) who threaten "whites girls as young as 12 years" lives from a just regular denizens to a prostitutes and thieves. Now, is it a real or perceived threat: unfortunately, according to BBC, some Pakistanis do sit in prison. Prespectives: Israel aspire to copy the West (I don't see the reason, it has its own Jewish Culture and Civilisation) in its norms and customs; is Israel now happy?! well its what Dr. Rosenfeld is trying to find out.
62. Funny how Rosenfeld invokes Albert Einstein
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (01.08.11)
The pacifist Albert Einstein, the same man, who demonstrated against the likes of Begin and his Herut, when he came to New York in the 1940s, would have been apalled by what Israel has become in 2011 with people like Lieberman and Netanyahu in power, where anti-Arab racism is not only tolerated, but approved of. Where once the ideas of Kach were found intolerable, they now have found acceptance and respectability amongst increasing groups in Israeli society, and even in the Knesset.. There is a consistent movement AWAY from liberalism and democracy and towards INTOLERANCE. The very fact that Israel has no constitution or bill of rights enshrining the sacred principle of equality before the law for all ( Jew or non-Jew), that protects minorities makes it now possible to enact a series of laws against Palestinian Arabs in Israel, and now against progressive and left wing organizations and NGOs. Good luck, Mr Rosenfeld. I hope you will realize one of these days that Albert Einstein's dictum at the end of your article also referred to you.
63. too much ignorance for this to be called racism
Michael   (01.08.11)
Racism is when one discriminiates againsy another based on his race. Well if that is the case, Please show how it is perfectly acceptable to sell to arabs whether in europe, asia, antartica South america and North America. It would also completely acceptable to sell to arabs in saudi arabia as well (except Jews aren't allowed to step foot there). So if it e=was racism why is it aceeptable to sell to an arab al over the world except Israel? answer is not racism, it s to perserver the Jewish character of the only Jewish state in the world. I know its hard for others to ubderstand. If your Moslem or Arab you have 22 countries. If your Christian, you have dozens of countries to choose from. If your Hindu's you have a subcontinent. buddists have china, Japan, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam and the Koreas. But Jews only have one state the size of the state of Delaware. And the state of Israel is only half the size of the state of Israel in Biblical times.

every land/country/nation/people has it"s own form of democracy, based on the situation, circumstances, history, habits, tradition, demographical aspects, culture and mentality etc. there.
65. Rabbi's letter is not racism
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (01.08.11)
The Rabbis' letter was not racist. The extreme-Left called the letter racist as part of their effort to delegitimize Israel. What then is the Rabbi's letter? The fact is that Arabs, using Saudi money, are purchasing as many houses in Jewish neighborhoods as they can. The purpose is simple, to take over Israel from the Jews. As long as there is a chance that the Arabs will make a new state in Israeli territory, it would be reasonable to prohibit any sale of property between the two ethnic groups until the borders are clearly defined. This is no different than the courts decision to prevent Jews from living in the legally bought Peace House in Hebron.

Eran ,   Singapore   (01.09.11)
With your post you either show your ignorance or make fun of Democracy. Like there is NO half-pregnancy, there is NO Half democracy.! Do you call democracy student oppression in Turkey?, do you call democracy arresting a Dutch woman in Iran and condemning her to death because she was present in a student demonstration? Do you call Democracy wearing a Burqa to intimidate your fellow muslems? Is democracy blowing up Christians in their churches in Iraq or Pakistan or Egypt? No . Sorry, There are no levels of Democracy according to who you are. Democracy is absolute and not selective.

if you want to call me ignorant it is up to you. eg. the democratic system in singapore is not the same as the democratic system in japan. there are countries who have referenda and other countries donot have them. there are countries who have democratic elected mayors, presidents by their people and other countries have another democratic system for dealing with these issues etc. i know exactly the meaning of the word/phenomenon "democracy". it is government by the people, a term from ancient greek. hope that i donot disappoint. if so, i have tried my best. by the way thanks for taking time and labour for your reaction on this talkback of mine. all the best!
