The modern European notion of "democracy" is doing nothing while a hostile, repressive culture takes over their streets, in the name of not "offending" minorities. That's not the true spirit of democracy, and I hope Israel doesn't go that way too.

Yes, after considering what's proposed and reading through the various comments - its very difficult to see just why the EU would think that such an enquiry would be a problem - or anti-democratic? Most reasonable people would say that transparency is vital in a democracy. I definitely feel the EU has something to hide.

Israel is indeed going through a very dangerous process. The percentage of extremist, rligious right wing population in Israel is on the rise (due to the high birthrate of the right wing religious population), combine that with the fascist soviet style of new immigrant like Liberman - and you get a crazy, non-democratic country. Israel goal is to remove the majority and expel the majority from the nation. It has laws which gives special status to the minority and it abuses those of the wrong religion. One only has to look at how an arab is treating when making formal request for a building permit and how a jew is treated. I do not believe Isreal has ever issued a building permit to an arab. If European diplomats see somewhere mistrust of their countries, they are right : Israelis have many reasons to distrust them, their financing of hateful leftist anti-Israeli propaganda is just one of them. Why are they so concerned and worried UNLESS they have something they want to hide? May I remind you that the good citizens of Europe let down Czechoslovakia by allowing the occupation of the country by Hitler. Those that do not learn from history, they will repeat their mistake. Israel is a very democratic society unlike the European nations who ignore anti semitism in their own countries. Why are they funding some of those anti Israel or any other groups in Israel anyway?
