91. To#84 are you not christian too? Same as Mike?
rachel ,   galut   (02.13.11)
It is really tiring always hearing christians telling us what we believe in and what our history was... like we don't know.. or we have forgotten.... rest assured.. we did NOT forget
92. #1
observer   (02.13.11)
The 'mosques' in European airports at least (possibly not the Asian ones) belong to the airport and are actually interfaith centres, although once Muslims use the - and many airport workers re Muslims and need a place to play - others tend to avoid them (this is the fact, without interpretation).
93. #12
observer   (02.13.11)
The Rambam also wrote that the Muslims hate us more than any other faith
94. #58&59 Thank you for your courageous posts
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (02.13.11)
It's imperative we find a formula to coexist amiably as cousins in a monotheistic Middle East. Please know that there are many other Orthodox Jews with this wish as well. I'm not the only one by a long shot. So please don't be discouraged by the hateful and ignorant. Paqid Yirmeyahu Paqid 16, The Netzarim, Ra'anana, Israel Israeli Torah-reverer & Orthodox Jew: Teimani, Baladi, Dor Dai Advocate for Logic as Hermeneutic Halakhic Authority Welcoming all who choose to keep Torah (When questions to me go unanswered, they have refused to post it. 95. Re: # 79
Abe   (02.13.11)
In addition to being allowed to eat our kosher foods, they are also allowed in their holy book within the same verse to marry our women if they choose. Are they taking liberties here too? LOL
96. Dont pray in a mosque, it is not our place to do so
(02.13.11)
but to pray at home. you can pray in an open field. and if you miss your prayers do this- a procedure known as tefillat tashlumin. and i would not go into a mosque or church under any circumstance. and that rabbi, well he is not the only one who knows or thinks he knows everything.
97. ok, most of the people here who leave talkbacks ARE NOT JEWS
(02.13.11)
but are x-tian and or messanic. Forget it. as a Jew, i am done writing on here, and done with this online rag you all call information. this is all DISINFORMATION by wanna be Jews who pray to x-tian whomever but think they are JEWS. AM DONE!!!
98. 86 - then get a rabbi to back you up
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.13.11)
shut me up by getting a legit rabbi to say your teachings are orthodox. simple as that. i'll take HIS word for it, that is, if you can find one to validate what you teach about your jesus/ribiyehoshua/whatever. otherwise you've proved nothing to anyone except your cult following. so simple even i can understand it.
99. It is simply Jewish Law
Abdallah ,   London   (02.13.11)
There is no point arguing with the Rabbi for stating centuries old Jewish law. Of course, this is a last resort when there is no better 'quiet space' and when we know that we'll be safe praying in the mulsim prayer room. Typically, muslim prayer rooms at airports are safe.
100. #60 Lim Kong Chang- I have the TORAH I am a Jew :-)~
BENJAMIN ,   SINGAPORE   (02.14.11)
MATERIAL WEALTH IS ONLY GOOD FOR THIS WORLD, BUT I SEEK THE NEXT WORLD TO COME- NOT FREEDOM OF THE MATERIAL WORLD ! mY G-D IS THE LRD G-D OF YISRAEL NONE OTHER THAN G-D ALONE- THE MERCYFUL AND COMPASSIONATE. I HAVE CHANGED OVER THE YEARS FORM THE MATREIAL MAN TO THE WHAT I AM TODAY...I FOLLOWS THE WAYS OF MY FATHERS, I HAVE MY LINEAGE OF SAGES AND SEERS OF JUDAISM. i M A JEW.
101. Please become like me
Lim Kong Chang ,   Malaysia   (02.14.11)
I am advising all you in this forum to become like me. No need prayer room. Just remembering Buddha.
102. if it is permitted by the mosque owners
someone ,   earth   (02.14.11)
Everyone knows that according to halacha we may pray in mosques, in fact this fact is the very reason that there are prominent signs in every mosque "It is forbidden to non-muslims to pray here." Such signs are binding according to halacha (it should also be common sense). Rabbi Efrati has friendly Muslims near his transit airport? Good for him and for his muslim friends, and please let him post the full list of addresses of those mosques that have no problem with a jew that prays with tallit, tefillin, and siddur. So that we may circulate them for people who can use them..... or so that we get confirmation that in fact, there are zero.
103. #54 ghostq
Ben ,   Israel   (02.14.11)
Christianity is not a monotheistic religion like Islam and Judaism. It makes no difference whether you're Roman Catholic, Baptist, Anglican or any other denomination. All denominations of Christians are regarded as pagans by Muslims and Jews because of the ''son of God'' idea which is derived from Greek and Roman mythology. That doesn't mean you are cursed, but certainly in the eyes of believing Jews and Muslims all Christians are pagans. That is why Jews can pray in a mosque but not a church, regardless of the denomination.
104. Does ynet have nothing better to write about?
Bartley Kulp ,   Haifa, Israel   (02.14.11)
This is standard halacha. This is not the ruling of Rav Baruch Efrati. He is just answering a simple question with an already dicussed and well established answer. The only reason that he brought up the issue of praying in a church (which according to all halachic opinions) is so the traveler will not walk into an airport Christian chapel to daven from perhaps reasoning that may be a church is also alright. He was just giving practicle halachic advise. The ynet editorial staff seems to think that they have discovered America or something.
105. This is not a problem since most mosques
aparatchik ,   Scotland   (02.14.11)
...are built on synagogues ;o)
106. This is a 800 year old non-issue based on the RAMBAM!!!
Dati Leumi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.14.11)
107. 98 Christians can demand NOTHING of an Orthodox Jew
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (02.14.11)
Your Christian demand has been ignored, is ignored, and will be ignored forever. And you'll never get that either.
108. to #103 :) I can say the same on judaism
ghostq   (02.14.11)
some of you still practic pagan customs, you just don't know they r, like praying 3 times a day, according to the sun position which came from the cnaanite god of heaven. oh you know cnaanite mythology. the father in heaven and mother earth which eventually created the david star which is a pagan symbol. oh and muslims way of praying, the ston in makka is actually pagan ritual in prehistoric times people used to pray to stones, it doesn't matter if the stone got face or not it is still the same principle. it shows how much you know about your own religion.
109. 107 - so (again) you admit you can't prove anything at all
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.14.11)
and, right on cue,we have your typical response: - a lot of bluster, but still no substance. so to recap: all we have is your word alone as proof you are "orthodox". that's it. oh, and some outdated documents that have no bearing on today and what all you proclaim and preach. please, with all your talk about logic don't insult everyone's intelligence. gotta do better than that, champ - your credibility is going south FAST.
110. #84 M. Hartley,
Yossef   (02.14.11)
This talkback is not funny as you say, please respect the sensibility of the other, at least. It shows one thing among others, that between Jews and Muslim there is a way for reconciliation, exactly because of our common faith. But the souls of our brothers and sisters burned alive during the inquisition or by the nazis, of killed by the swords of the crusaders still cry in our hearts and make our cohabitation difficult if not impossible with christians. Now we returned to our land, we escape the danger of other massacres, we'll pray in mosque, yes, and we'll invite our arab cousins to pray in synagogue, this is our way for peace. אמן
111. And the Rambam
#93 observer   (02.14.11)
also said to Richard Lionheart that he prefers to live under muslim rule than christian. So do I...
112. #104, Bartley
Yossef   (02.14.11)
No Ynet want only make buzz, and be surprised: it works :-)
113. 108 ghostq: So you say Jews are pagans too?
Ben ,   Israel   (02.14.11)
thankyou for the information about Judaism ! I did not not know that religious Jews are also pagans. Being an atheist I'm not concerned one way or the other - both religions are nuts so your post gave me a good laugh.
114. Re 109 Orthodox docs rule; Christian foolishness irrelevant
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (02.14.11)
115. 4. Church
Jerry ,   Gan Yavne   (02.14.11)
Are you Jewish Mike? Amongst the many religious traditions followed by both Jews and Muslims is the banning of the human form. Not only are they found in churches but the most common of course is Jesus who, according to the holy trinity, is God himself in human form. Of course observant Jews are not allowed to enter a church. I am a pork-eating-left-wing-liberal-secular and even I know this!
116. airport rooms
jet knight ,   everywhere   (02.14.11)
Yes the prayer room at the airport is fine, but, airports have ONE prayer room for every religion, it has no visible symbols, it is absolutely non-denominational and they make a point that it is also atheist-friendly, and when the priest comes to use as a church (usually it's reserved to christians at appointed times of the day to celebrate their mass), the priest pull out their items (and halacha forbids us to stay). By the way, the prayer room is intended by the airport authorities as a meditation room or whatever, and it's usually empty or nearly empty, so, it's an excellent place to quietly relax in silence, better than the airlines "frequent travelers" or "business class" lounges. No whisky served, though :)
117. 114 - ever heard of a falsely obtained conversion documents?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.14.11)
happens all the time, especially in cases where the conversion process fails to produce those that qualify as kosher orthodox. like someone teaching about jesus/ribiyehoshua/whatever, as well as israel's "paqid" nonsense. you do this and say this is "orthodox judaism"?? even a christian knows that's a bunch of hooey. and if this simple christian is so wrong, why can't you get a legit rabbi to back you up?
118. Jewish prayer i a mosque
BA ,   Sweden   (02.14.11)
There is absolutely NOTHING controversial with this, but in total appliance with Halacha (Maimonides).
119. Why mosquees and not synagogues...
ORA ,   Jerusalem   (02.14.11)
in airports?
120. To #4
Rickie ,   Brazil   (02.14.11)
As far as I know, churches has images but not mosques... In other hand would I'd be stoned as a jew if caught by muslims praying on their temple? I guess so. Afraid!
