I've given up trying to make sense of Iran through the media. There are too many agendas clouding the picture. Here's what I have worked out: Iran does many things the US doesn't like.....like wanting to trade oil in Euros instead of the US$. Like Saddam Hussein did. Or Victor Chavez in Venezuela. You try to trade oil in Euros...and you get a very bad press....if you don't suffer a coup (failed against Chavez in 2002) or an invasion (Iraq, 2003). Iran has almost 70 million people. The oil will run out. They want to generate nuclear power. They have few alternatives. Israel uses Iran to distract from what they do in Gaza and the West Bank and to prevent a peace settlement that would mean giving up land. Iran isn't a great place to live in my view.....but I also don't think that what is being said about them on oil and nukes is true. iran is a theocratic state. God rules, supposedly...their top religious guy has said nuclear weapons are contrary to their religion. For them, that is a BIG deal. The US and Israel seem to playing their own games.
