Further to my previous response..The fact that Turkey may have had a good reason to invade Cyprus, the territory gained by war is still illegal. The 'good reason ' argument by which you excuse Turkey's action does not mean that she could gain and occupy that territory. The fact that Israel would still be 15km wide as you state even with border adjustments is correct, however it is the defensibility of the borders which comes into play here. In 1922 the League of Nations gave the Jews the right to settle anywhere between the Meditteranean sea and the Jordan River. this right still stands and has never been abrogated. The so called'green line' as it was before June 1967 is still officially merely a cease fire line not a recognized border as the Pals have never given up their official dream of occupying all of Israel. So we have an independent state of Tibet occupied by China, part of an independent Cyprus occupied by Turkey and a geographical area now known as the 'west bank' not an independent state slightly occupied by Israel (4%), and only Israel is blamed for an illegal occupation! Very strange to say the least. Maybe, as with Tibet, the Israeli occupation of the West Bank is purely an internal civil war situation (thats your logic). A state can only be at war with another state, not a non-state entity. therefore, the Israeli occupation of part of the West bank is perfectly legal.
62. An important corrective article
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (02.21.11)
The general impression many have is that Israel is a 'taker' only in its relation to the U.S. The information in this article while generally known to those truly versed in the field should be repeated over and over so that one of our enemies' main propaganda claims against us i.e. that we only take from the U.S. can be clearly and firmly refuted as it is in this article.

Our resident anti-Semites do not like being ignored. Their pathetic attempts to introduce racist lies as facts isn't working and they seem to be getting frustrated.

How do you know that Israel did not help the US understand the warfare systems of Al Quieda and the Taliban? Please let us know your sources so we can check it out.
66. #42 DISGRACEFUL

Your USS Liberty comments are inaccurate and inflammatory. The ship was attacked and hit heavily but never "blown out of the water". However, 34 Americans (your fellow countrymen) were murdered and 174 wounded in international waters under a neutral flag. Men were killed while carrying wounded and while in life rafts. The killing was merciless and relentness. Perhaps you are pleased by this efficiency? By the way, do you have secret information to prove your claims about the Liberty passing secret information to other nations? From what random disinformation pool was this garbage dredged from? On the contrary, asome nalysts believe that the Israelis may have been altering electronic communications to sucker Jordan into war (in order to take West Bank) and that the Liberty could ruin their charade. Or, there was an IDF coverup of the murder of Egyptian soldiers in the Sinai and/or a desire to attack Syria to gain the Golan prior to Syria's agreement to terms and that the Liberty may have gained knowledge of these events. I have sent a copy of your outrageous comments to the USS Liberty Veterans Association. I also suggest that your comments reflect a serious issue with allegiance to your country and those that serve it to protect your freedom.

Just as you attack #42 as not having any evidence of her assertions, so I would like to see evidence of your assertions that: 'On the contrary, asome nalysts believe that the Israelis may have been altering electronic communications to sucker Jordan into war (in order to take West Bank) and that the Liberty could ruin their charade. Or, there was an IDF coverup of the murder of Egyptian soldiers in the Sinai and/or a desire to attack Syria to gain the Golan prior to Syria's agreement to terms and that the Liberty may have gained knowledge of these events.' As far as I know every official US investigation relating to the Liberty incident has exonerated Israel of deliberately and with foresight attacking the Liberty. From what I recall, the US did not notify Israel that a US Naval ship would be entering the war zone. The question is why was Israel not notified? Can you please point us to which official US or US Navy investigation confirms your above assertions.
68. The end result of many of these comments...
esnuffnstl ,   USA   (02.21.11)
----I have sent a copy of your outrageous comments to the USS Liberty Veterans Association. Every few months I write a letter or two to my local newspaper, or perhaps a magazine like Time or Newsweek. Up until last week, I've never mentioned Israel. Two days ago I did, mainly talking about how "some Israelis" find US aid "insignificant" and believe Israel to be a "priceless ally" to the US. As has been pointing out repeatedly, US support of Israel is anything but "priceless." It has caused an increase in hatred of the US amongst an extremely violent element; it has cost the lives of Americans; it has cost tens of billions of dollars. An argument could be made that of all nations the US is allied with, Israel is the only one that takes far more than it gives. Now, having said all that, is American support of Israel a good thing? Perhaps it is. An argument could be made that given the past centuries of antisemetic killings, America NEEDS to support a protected homeland for the Jewish people. It could even be argued that, while certainly unfair to the Palestinians, Israel has a strategic need to various pieces of land that it did not possess prior to 1967. Americans like myself are willing to listen to the above two arguments. However, I'm not willing to accept there has been no cost to the US for its support of Israel. To sum up: America does not have unlimited funds. We are, again, entering a phase where we're going to be leery of foreign entanglements (no matter how justified or moral the cause might be.) If American support IS important to Israel, then people here should confront the BS that is regularly spouted on these boards. Americans do read this, and more will hear about it from both myself and others. You are doing yourselves no favors by calling Israel a "priceless" ally of the US; nor by being so blase about US aid to Israel; nor by somehow thinking our President has a "duty" to protect Israel; nor by calling Americans "naive"; nor by defending Israeli settlements by bringing up the actions of people who lived in the 19th century. I could go on, but the reasonable people here understand my point. And it is up to them to convince the unreasonable, as I'm just passing through and this is your home.
