Is this not the same barghouti that is responsible for massacres and deaths of many Israelis? The massacre at Ithamar was an act by dastards just like he is. If this is so than you and OZ are filth and scum no less than barghouti.

....Perhaps we shall have to fight first of all against many an evil-disposed, narrow-hearted, short-sighted member of our own race." -- Theodore Herzl, in the Conclusion of The Jewish State 1896

35. Amos Oz wrote a very mysterious and
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (03.16.11)
compelling novel some years ago entitled "Unto Death". Since then, I have tried reading more, most recently, "A Tale of Love and Darkness", and can never read through them they are so utterly sentimental and without true power. I'm afraid he lost it as a writer years ago but his reputation remains in some circles. It reminds me of John Steinbeck, the early writer of novels such as "The Grapes of Wrath" and "The Red Pony" and the later writer of such contrived novels as "Travels with Charley". As with so many artists, they lose their authenticity but don't know enough to quit and keep silent. Unfortunately for Israel and the Jewish people, this is the case with Amos Oz.
36. that's it fo me........
ed from atl   (03.16.11)
i'm thringut all oz's bks... this lefy- crazy, dilusioal author simply makes me sick to my stomach! how can any israeli/ jew feel any sypmathy to barghouti ,imach shemo, who masterminded so many israeli deaths? DESPICABLE!
37. Barghuti can be a pragmatic, charismatic partner
Frankie ,   Tel Aviv   (03.16.11)
Amos Oz is no self-hating Jew, he understands eventual consensus-seeking efforts. "Davka" Barghuti is more relevant for future contacts PA-Israel.
38. #37. To find a child murderer "charismatic".
Chaim ,   Israel   (03.16.11)
#37. American mass murderer Charles Manson reportedly receives quite a few gifts and love letters, mostly from women, who find him "charismatic". You must have the same sort of mental/emotional disease, as Manson admirers, to find child murderer Barghouti "charismatic".
39. This man should be sent to Gaza
Chris ,   USA   (03.16.11)
I hate it when leftists and academics use the populist system to make more money and notoriety. Pathetic.
40. Don't buy the terrorist lover books
Arik A ,   Guivat Yearim Israel   (03.16.11)
That boring writer has no moral values except his wallet and has no heart, hurt him in the only thing in life that matters to him : his money! Do NOT buy the books of the terrorist lover anymore, enough is enough in a normal state he should be stripped of his citizenship, judged for treason and sent to prison.

45. No Amos, no matter how left you are
Claudia ,   Tampa USA   (03.16.11)
giving anything to this terrorist responsible for the murder of innocents is wrong. He'd kill you in a second! I will no longer read your literature, you have no ability to decern good from evil.
46. what a fool !!!!!
aline silverman ,   israel   (03.16.11)
People I thought were intelligent turn out to be such fools !!!!!!
47. Wakeup call
Rachel Shapiro ,   NYC, USA   (03.16.11)
Up until a few years ago, when I felt his political agenda crossed the line of not relevant to his novels, I purchased and read every book that Amos Oz wrote as soon as it was published. I realize the lack of purchase of one book will not make a difference, but hopefully others have also joined in no longer reading his books. While I really don't like the idea of a 2 state solution, I'm begining to think it's time. Amos Oz can move to the Gaza strip and sleep with one eye open and the first sign of a terrorist attack in Israel can be treated as an act of aggression by an enemy country.

Wake up and look around its the Bargouti's of this world who got you into the current mess. Arafat, Bargouit, Hamas These are the people who wanted the intefada which is what destroyed all the political progress you made and provoked Israel into the various military operations that have destroyed your towns and cities and your economy. If it hadn't been for the intefada Barak might have had a chance at surviving another election. If he had he may well have ended up giving you everything you wanted and you could have spent the past decade state building rather than killing. If your people have any sense at all they will reject Bargouti and the rest of the revolutionaries embrace the people who are willing to make the compromises needed to actually make any headway.
49. Oz
Michael Pielet ,   Boca, usa   (03.16.11)
Oz procures arabs for his wife. Oz's wife refuses to have an intimate relations with Oz. Oz's wife will only have intimate relations with arabs he brings home.
50. Amos was right
Howie ,   Montreal, Canada   (03.16.11)
Amos will meet Barghouti in Hell one day and they will remember how they both tried to destroy the Jewish state of Israel.
51. The Amos of Oz -- He should live in his own Emeral City

The face of narcissism behind the mask liberalism.
52. Shame
Yonatan ,   Rishon Letzion   (03.16.11)
I liked at least two of his books very much, but I doubt I will ever read anything by him again. I must admit this recent act of his doesn't come as a complete surprise to me. I always detected a sort of moral relativistic undercurrent in his stories. That is to say that the concepts of right and wrong were not clearly differentiated. As if they had no meaning and good and evil were just a matter of taste. It made me very uneasy. I think I will be removing his books from my shelves now and relegating them to the rubbish bin. It's a shame. He had so much potential.

perfect PR for the Arabic version of the book. All means are justified.
55. Barghouti
M.Gerald fried ,   Skokie il. Usa   (03.16.11)
If Amos Oz wants to see the terrorist ,barghouti, and bring him a gift I'm sure Isarel has plenty of jail space. I'm sure they can find a cell for him.Barghouti has killed enough Israels . There should be an Israel law about giving aid an comfort to your enemy. If so he should be prosecuted. There are enough Gentiles in world that hate Jews we don't need Jews hating Jews.If we can't charge him let's evict him from Israel.
56. yeah, but his inscription to goering was more heartfelt
dante ,   uk   (03.16.11)
what a complete fool! appears to be completely devoid of any moral integrity. oz blows with the winds from london, paris, oslo, berlin, etc. and comes to believe that, because these winds are hostile to Israel, he is courageous and virtuous. a complete fool!
57. OZ -Nobel Candidate
Raphie ,   NJ, USA   (03.16.11)
Oz will sell his mother to get the Nobel prize for litrature, so is it any surprize that he did what he did now. By the way if I'm not mistaken Oz lives on occupied territory, Palestine!! On the way to the gas chambers no one asked for your affiliation you were just a Jew. Oz you hide hide behind Bargouti.
58. Nobody is buying a book, heh?
