31. # 22 - IDF was handcuffed in 2006?
ahmed ,   london   (03.31.11)
32. #4 Israel is signaling where will be bombed. When the
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.31.11)
rubble is cleared, we will see what is left of the underground rocket city. Don't know if anyone will be left on top, though - only flesh scattered all over. Would you like to offer yourself as a shield for the rockets? That would be rather nice. The map is there for all to see. In case you don't know, bunkers were in existence since before the second Lebanon war. So what do you think Hezbullah has been doing since then? Sleeping? I bet you think they are in a coma.
33. #28 Don't you know? The UN will call the photographers,
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.31.11)
pose with the rockets and say they don't see any. That is exactly what UNIFIL does currently They don't see or hear any arms movement in S. Lebanon. The UN is an utter waste of time. Israel has engaged in two wars in recent times, in which it did not crush its enemies, when it could have - only to see the enemies get stronger and more threatening and dangerous. Two opportunities lost. And what is the UN doing to reduce the threat level? Zero. They are blind, deaf, dumb and paralyzed and as far as Hezbullah is concerned, they are non-existent. I hardly think Israel can afford to depend on the UN. The next war may see Israel reflecting a "do them before they do you" policy. I hope the Lebanese living in the dotted areas have all their business "fixed up" and in order. A corpse can't write a will and we well know how Arabs fight each other viciously for inheritance - not that there will be many of them around to inherit anything.
34. surprise, surprise
Ypip ,   Canada   (03.31.11)
35. leon canada thank you but we must admit
salameh ,   taba, egypt   (03.31.11)
Thank you leon, we all no that israel and its propagnda will steer. But even I a devout muslim and antizionist will admit that hezbllah uses human shields and puts every cache in populous villages. It does not make it right for israel to intentionally bomb those villages just for security. But us vers the might military power of zionists must find someway to defend ourselves against the aggression of the israelis. But like I said even I have to be honest and admit that hezbllah hides behind civilians, its ben a tactik for many years. But hezbllah was created for one reason, to liberate from the occupation. I'm probably very sure that all those sites are correct, but again it does not make it right to bomb them for no reason. And thank you leon for your support, we greatly apprecite it and one day because of men like you palestine will be liberated and 100 percent muslim. Only muslims should prosper in our holiest of cities. Peace and prosperity, Salameh
36. #4 - if so, why did Hizbullah arrest so many Lebanese?
William ,   Israel   (03.31.11)
I guess because its illegal to play with markers there, or thanks to boots on the ground and drones in the air, Israel has some pretty nice intelligence. After all, if it's wrong, why would Hizbullah care if some car dealer from Tyre gives information, or a camera hidden in a rock over looks Beirut, right?
37. #6 - that's right. Let's drop maps to the villagers
William ,   Israel   (03.31.11)
with the words "guess where the IDF is going to hit next because the Geneva Convention permits it" Wonder how fast the panic will spread to get rid of those weapons, right before Hizbullah stages a mini riot and mows down about 41 people.
38. #9 - hmm, and if not from Hizbullah, then who?
William ,   Israel   (03.31.11)
Must be just the local militias that help to protect the village from traveling banditos. Or it could be the only power in S. Lebanon who routinely shows its presence and has used the weapons on Lebanese before. Who could it be? Who could it be?
39. #17 - "Hizbullah has the leadership smarter than your own"
William ,   Israel   (03.31.11)
Apparently not if they chose the action that led to the 2006 war. Nasrallah was kind enough to apologize for his folly after he brought destruction on Lebanon. I wound't call that smart - callous, murderous, uncaring, egotistical, miscalculating - but not smart.
40. #21 - that would be good. Let the UN visit the sites.
William ,   Israel   (03.31.11)
Somehow, I doubt that would happen. Villagers in on town nearly lynched a UN contingent who wanted to investigate a rumored weapons depot in the town. Maybe they just didn't like foreigners, huh?
41. #26 - NYT is much more anti-Israel
William ,   Israel   (03.31.11)
and everyone already knows such a map exists. If not, then Israel has no business funding an intelligence agency. I think it was actually clever of them to release it. 1) they cover their asses by showing Hizbullah is already breaking Intl Law and committing war crimes. A fact that needs to be internalized now before the bombs start dropping. 2) Hizbullah is now too focused on plugging the leaks and moving 1000+ sites to other locations before the UN starts to question anything. 3) In a usual response, Iran/Hizbullah would heat up the North or Gaza to divert attention, but if they do the IDF just showed the first 1000 hits and Hiz doesn't have the man-power or warehouse space to begin a massive move of illegal weapons and spy gear.
42. Hamas and Hezbollah
General ,   South Africa   (03.31.11)
Both are terrorist organizations and both will one day be wiped out by Israel, long live Israel and god bless her and her people. I hope Israel do it !!
43. And the world, for now, will be silent, until Israel take...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (03.31.11)
...out the site at a great human cost, at which point another Goldstone will show up to scold the Jews for wanting to live and protect their lives... What a cynical world that has not changed over the years when it comes to the right of Jews to apply their first human right, the right to live and protect the life of their young.
44. I searched the Washington Post site and couldn't find the
Benjamin ,   USA   (03.31.11)
story there. I wonder whether the U.S. media and Government even care about the clear violation of UN Security Council 1701 and for that matter about Israel's future security needs.
45. too funny
shmuel ,   rom   (03.31.11)
the idf propaganda gets funnier by the day....they had their chance in 2006 but ran back across the border with those funny under[pants on their helmets
46. Lebanse are victims
mohammad ,   Beirut   (03.31.11)
the lebanese are victims themselves. We tried to fight hizbollah but we could not.
47. critics concerns ????
Galut ,   Selah   (03.31.11)
those that are concerned about Israels heavy handed responce will see this as propaganda via israels military....my question to them what type of evidence would be valid in thier sight? My guess they will sidestep the question because it isn't in thier script.my next question to those that question israels responce is if hezbulah launches a misslie attack on israel ...what should Israel do?
48. Why Haven't They Been Destroyed ?
A.C.Guard ,   USA   (03.31.11)
49. So what?!!
Ashton ,   South Lebanon   (03.31.11)
Its the right of every Lebanese to be prepared to defend Lebanon and in particular South Lebanon from the Zionests aggression. Everyone has to know that we are in a cease fire agreement and not peace agreement. So, all possibilities are open and its our total right to defend ourselves whenever needed as long as our Lebanese Army is not able to do it on its own.
50. Okay, lets let the UN inspect Dimona too...
Alas ,   Canada   (03.31.11)
A child in day school can put dots on a map. It does not mean they are true. Why would israel release information for nothing? Wouldn't they want to surprise hezbollah in war? There is obviously a political reason to do this. And if that's true, this map is a complete joke.
51. well said #4,9,10
Alas ,   Canada   (03.31.11)
israel forgets all too quickly its incapabilities in 2006.
52. Hezbollah
Ralph ,   Caesarea   (03.31.11)
Assad is falling, Ahmaddinejad will soon fail. Hezbolah will die.
53. Lebanon
roi ,   Israel   (03.31.11)
God has blessed the people of Lebanon along with all the other nations in the Middle East. Farm land, lots of water and plenty of food, natural resources, oil, and families and children and happiness...life is great and you don't have any enemies preparing to destroy you........So it's puzzeling to know why so many want to destroy Israel and the Jewish people, who only want to live in peace and freedom in one tiny nation.
54. here , we are talking about rockets !!!
D.. ,   world citizen   (03.31.11)
lets also talk about war heads with chemecal and attomic bombs spread all around israel ,aimed at every major city of the world .... i think its a lot more serious subject
55. well said #4
moshe ,   Canada   (03.31.11)
Nobody believes this
56. #17 Why no Nasrallograd Report
Cynthia ,   USA   (03.31.11)
Hezbollah terrorists made a mess of Lebanon in 2006 leaving 1200 Lebanese dead, 4000 injured and billions of dollars in damage. To free Kuntar the child killer, reports indicate some 600 Hezbollah fighters were killed and many dropped their guns and ran back to hide behind their women and children. Nasrallah was demoted by Iran for causing so much damage to Lebanon. Marco, crime doesn't pay. Murdering and kidnapping IDF soldiers patrolling a peaceful border, then firing over 4000 katyusha rockets at Northern Israel was a senseless terror attack that traumatized two countries. You have nothing to be proud of.
57. Dynamite the entire area
(03.31.11)
58. The UN's General Secretary should address this problem if
JBI   (03.31.11)
he truly wants to fulfill his job and the purpose of the UN in the first place. UN Security Council 1701 very explicitly prohibits the accumulation of weapons by Hizballah and in particular south of the Litani River. Furthermore, this form of accumulation violates all humanitarian laws and the laws of war. But, the UN that maintain personnel in Lebanon is silent about it. It is noisy when 20 apartments are constructed for the needy in Jerusalem.
59. Hezbollah bunkers in Lebanon
LION OF ZION   (03.31.11)
Israel should and must inform the UNITED NATION,EU,USA,& the whole world what is going on in these places. In any future war with Hezbollah ISRAEL RESERVE THE RIGHT TO BOMB THESE PLACES,and any casualties to the locals is not ISRAEL FAULT.
60. # 49
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (03.31.11)
Nobody is saying that you have no right to defend yourself. The only thing that is mentioned is that your heroes placed their bunkers and rockets in the villages, in the middle of populated areas. And there is a reason to reveal this: to prevent your squeaking in the future that IDF is attacking civilians (as you always do..)
