solomon ,   bklyn   (04.05.11)
Sinai was ceded to Egypt. It was not "given back" as it was never recognized as Egyptian except by one or two countries. The Israelis withdrew due to the conditions of a mutually agreed upon peace treaty. Are you now going to want to renegotiate the peace treaty? And if you are ignoring the fact that there is a peace treaty, as you are ignoring the fact that you lost yet another war, with your army surrounded, then READ some history.
62. to #37 What will Israel Do?
John ,   Alaska   (04.05.11)
Wael, what will Israel do when the the Arabs start a war against them on multiple fronts? The same thing they did when that happened in 1948, 1967, and 1973. Have victory handed to them by the Almighty, put the forces of the adversary to flight, and wind up with more territory than before their enemies were foolish enough to attack them. The battle belongs to the Lord. His people trust in Him and will rejoice in His victory. Don't mistake this for George Bush's arrogant and premature "bring it on" speech. The Jews would rather live in peace, but the Arabs have been at their throats since before there was an Israel. They trust in HaShem to keep delivering them from the Arabs, and He keeps doing so. As for your spiteful comment, "this is because you deserve it for what you have done and what you still do," the Arabs were murdering Jews for over a century now. What did the Jews do to deserve the Arabs to kill them and take their land, before Israel was even reborn? What did Israel do in 1948 to warrant the Arabs attacking them then? You won't reply to this talkback, because you know that there is no justification for the crimes of the Arabs against Jews going back to a century ago, before there were "settlements" and before the Lord restored Israel according to prophecy.
63. To Everyone Who Wants The Price Changed
John ,   Alaska   (04.05.11)
What you are saying is like the manager of a convenience store calling someone and saying "I realized after I sold you that soda that I wanted to get more for it. So give me money for what we agreed on in the past. Or else." How exactly would you respond if in 1948, 1967 and 1973 Israel gave you peace for free. Stopped chasing her attackers and mercifully stopped killing those Arabs who started these wars thinking to kill her? Actually, that is what happened, and it was better than the Arabs deserved. Now: how would you feel if Israel came to you and said, "I think I should have asked for reparations for your aggression back then. So give me money for what we agreed on in the past. Or else." Either it's stupid both ways or ... We can talk both about raising your price for gas and about your paying reparations for the wars you started in order to kill Jews but lost to the Jews you were trying to kill.
64. to #48 yes, exactly
John ,   Alaska   (04.05.11)
Marwa, this is exactly why Israel graciously gave Sinai back to the people who lost the war: charity. It was a good-will gesture, intended to foster peace. Because _unlike Arabs_, Jews prefer to live in peace. Obviously you don't understand charity; that's okay, you only have to enjoy the charity the Jews showed you. Or you could attack them again and discover that after the next war you start, the Jews will show charity by not dropping more nukes on you. It's your choice.

A contract is a contract. Even if Mubarek was corrupt, it doesn't constitute grounds for retroactive charges. Even a new contract needs the approval of both parties.
66. the comments
Faisal ,   Riyadh   (04.05.11)
I've read a couple of the comments herein and was a bit surprised how much some readers are enjoying being unfair and above law. I hope this will not last for long.

69. TIME FOR U EGYPTIANS TO WAKE UP
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.05.11)
You have Mubarak locked up, as snug as a roach in a jar of jam He has all the billions he made in the gas deals, SQUEEZE HIM FOR IT !! Your ancestors may have been smart, the current generation is stupid, you don't see the obvious
70. # 37 it is different
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (04.05.11)
Wael ! you are wrong, nothing has changed, the arab mentality is the same as before,a deep hatred for Israel and the USA,to Arabs,to hate, is very important, and the USA and Israel are respectable enemies,it's below arab honor to hate countries like Italy,Finland ,Holland,The arabs believe, just keep hating and you will be as big and strong as your enemy, concerning the 3 or 4 fronts, let see,Egypt has an army of business people in uniform, who run bakeries, textile plants and other things, the Egyptian army's enemy is not Israel but the Egyptian people, who would also like to have a share in the business projects, and in syria the army has only one task,to protect the house of Asad,Jordan ?.Jordan is a basket case,Iran ?.The ayatolahs don't trust their own army, they trust only the revolutianary guards, who are trained to fight their own people, not regular Armies, and remember,no war ever ,ended the way it was planed to end by those who started the war,so,think hard before you attack Israel, you may bite somthing very hard and break your teeth.
71. to # 45
Rafi ,   Montreal, Canada   (04.05.11)
Gaza became a "prison" at the hands of the Palestinians...after 1967 there were thousands coming in to Israel for work. Their lives improved..until some used that freedom to commit murders against Israelis. Even under the present occupation, both Gaza and the West Bank are prospering...have you seen the photos of the "prison"...luxuries and improvements not existing under Jordanian and Egyptian rules...sorry there was never a Palestinian country, parliament,, constitution and currency. Life got better under the enemy! Both Jordan and Egypt had no use for these areas under their control. As it is said..if the Arabs put down their arms, they will have peace in a week, if the Israelis did the same, they will be attacked the next day and annihilated.
72. to# 61
karim ,   france   (04.05.11)
save Israel, TOLD Golda Meir TO the world? when egyptans attacked. this is not the kind of message that is thrown when the war is being won, entraind secondo between 73 and 2011 the demography of egypt has exploded from 35 million people over 82 today, nostalgia time past should not cause you to lose sight of the realities of today live in the memory of glory past is not a good bet! and add to this that Egypt has a modern army: 259 F16, 1020 M1A1, Partiot missils, and two to three times more than Israel's naval platforms, equation is very different than 73
73. What about the slush money paid to Mubark and his sons
sID ,   LONDON   (04.05.11)
Bet that doe snot bother them!
74. #66, #72
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.05.11)
#66- Which readers are being unfair and above the law? The ones who insist on getting more money retroactively contrary to a signed agreement, or those who are willing to talk about a price increase [but not retroactively] even though an agreement has been signed? Have you spoken with your friends along the Nile who want to renegotiate the Nile water contract? #72- I see you agree with me, and not with many of the Egyptian TB's (welcome!), that Egypt lost the Yom Kippur War. Thank you. Being straight about facts is a good beginning.
75. to #72 Karim about the equation
John ,   Alaska   (04.06.11)
The equation is exactly the same THE G-D OF ISRAEL > all the enemies of Israel Please note that Israel is only in this equation incidentally, the setting for the actual equation. Divide both sides by "of Israel" and it becomes less messy, more to the point: G-D > all the enemies Again, this is not hubris, it is only acknowledging that while we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we know that only the G-d of Jacob gives peace, by putting the enemies of his beloved to flight when they try to kill her. It's how David defeated Goliath, and how Sampson defeated everyone else in the house at the time of his death. More to the point, since we're talking about Egypt, it's how Pharoah's army was destroyed at the red sea. On another, hopefully more conciliatory note: you don't have to be on the wrong side of the equation. According to Scripture, Israel is on G-d's side. You can join her; there is always room for more, and it's very much worth Israel's enemies being against you. Because you win along with Israel Because the Almighty will win.
76. "Muslim democracy" = racism, hatred, genocide, lies, rape,
(04.06.11)
greed, cowardice, demagogy, hypocrisy and corruption. Egyptians are much worse off without Mubarak. Now they have no chance for any future, except as a genocidal Muslim terrorist state. We'll ge remembering this next time any Muslim state wants us to sign a "peace" agreement. Now it's "more wars and more bloodshed". Egypt is falling into a primitive abyss.
77. number 72 lol
Anon ,   Johannesburg   (04.06.11)
It’s not quantity my friend, its quality. Firstly, You might have American fire power, but that is nothing without spare parts. (Especially for the fact that the computer interface in your fire power was all developed in Israel) Secondly, Israel today is so technologically advanced, Egypt’ Air force, Navy and ground forces can be destroyed in 15 minutes while not even calling in the reserves. And that goes the same for Iran and Syria. First your Army will fall, power stations will explode, then your factories and so forth... all this from one computer (and I am NOT talking nuclear) I will give you this one though; terrorism has worked well for you Arabs. Hamas and Hezbollah hiding behind women and children have been the hardest wars Israel has ever fought... and will fight. That is until they (the Israeli public) has had enough and calls to target the civilians finally start to take form. From 30 million to 80 million in Egypt... who cares when one computer is = to one billion people. (And yes, Israel has many of these super computers) However, to conclude, there is one main reason why Israel will never lose. Because the Almighty God will forever protect them. Just like he did in 48, and ever since “they” have returned to HIS land. (This is why HE gave them brains and not numbers... just like in 1948 It’s not quantity my friend, its quality)
78. Dear Arab talkbackers
bob ,   canada   (04.06.11)
It is really a strong de ju vu sense, to read your guys comments, really. It is like to meet one day a daycare buddy, just to find out that though he had grown big, his mind is still of 4 year old.. You were carried away a bit, but mind I remind you that you do not have democrasy just yet, and even if you will , it may not make you rich and important . You have work hard, be honest, respect your neighbors and agreements, and one day prosperity will come. Otherwise, keep hating and dreaming.
79. #72 karim
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.06.11)
I reread your TB and realize another obvious answer is called for: "save Israel" was a result of a sneak attack on Judaism's holiest day (what would the world have said if Israel attacked during Ramadan?). The more accurate quotes are towards the end of the war when Sadat begged, pleaded, with the UN and US to 1. get Israel to stop fighting 2. to get Israel to allow food to be delivered to their surrounded, starving soldiers 3. to get Israel to allow the Egyptian Third Army out of encirclement to go back to Egypt. Israel also almost had the Egyptian Second Army surrounded but weren't able to complete the job because of the cease fire imposed by the UN and US because of Egypt's pleading and desperation. Should there be another war between Israel and Egypt (and I hope not), I will wish you another "victory" like the one I've just described and that you can read about in any history book, should you bother to do so.
80. demanding Israel to pay the diffrance
harold ,   charlesville usa   (04.06.11)
ONLY IF THEY CAN PUT AND HONEST PRICE TAG ON ALL OF THE JEWS AND CHIRSTIANS LIVES THEY " MUSLIMS HAVE STOLED AND MURDER FROM!
81. Gas Price
Andy ,   Canada   (04.22.11)
The problem with the Egyptian Minister's foolish public outburst and every talkback here, is that none of them have actually read the original contract. Coming from a oil and gas producing country (Canada) we know that prices are the product of many things including: the grade and the quality of the oil or gas which determines the refining costs and the usage; the transportation costs; the infrastructure costs involved in transporting the oil or gas and the exploration costs. What exactly was agreed to originally and for what purpose? Until the Egyptian minister publishes the original contract so we can all examine it all the rest of the comments are rendered moot. Including his.
82. Egypt, you were robbed by your own government
Shai ,   Mexico city   (04.24.11)
This is my understanding of the situation. Egyptian government officials were directors in the east mediterranean gas company. They sold egyptian gas very cheaply to themselves (through the gas company) and then sold it back to Israel at higher prices pocketing hugh profits. Why are you blaming Israel? Go after Mubarak and his other corrupt officials. That's where the money is.
83. r u kidding
raouf ,   albehira   (04.30.11)
r u believe that shits..if some one came to your home by force and asked you to buy the rent for him will u buy him the rent?allas u believe your jewish media because they dominated your media that say arab r saints and israel is acute angel ...u forget avatal thing we were in peace before the foriegn occupation-about 48 =67=73 ask your self who begin that .who came to arab land, steal it,killing children and women same u do with native american .so it is not strange for any american to defend israel because both are slayers.
84. #83 and general
Miryam ,   London   (08.24.11)
Raouf and other like minded individuals. There has never been peace in the ME and since the creation of Israel Muslim Israeli women have enjoyed equal rights and opportunities. You may think Israel is evil but you fail to mention conflicts that are rampant throughout africa spreading more carnage as right wing islamists murder "dhimas". This is not meant to sound patronizing it is just to opne your eyes.
