99% of Palestenians want the jews out, we are not going to get peace until they teach the next generation about co-existence,democracy and the rule of law. The next generation is already lost!
36. Read Martin Sherman's article on Israel's
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (04.05.11)
security needs. Sherman is a professor; he is knowledgeable, informative and inciteful; his research is A1. The article appeared about one month ago and can be found above under "site". Sherman is exceedingly convincing as to why we (Israel) must hold on to the Golan and to a large sector of what is known as the Westbank. We must hold on and declare these area ours out of our need for survival. This group of leftists advocating a return to the 1967 borders are simply out of their minds.

Rhodes Armistice Line, Greenline, Pre-'67, they didn't work, they didn't deter the Arabs from attacking repeatedly Total waste of effort & time, that will only result in more Jewish deaths in the future
41. The Same Old, Same Old
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.05.11)
Here we go again with another rehash of the same deal that's been on the table, for at least 30 years. But remember, the Arabs always rejected the offer. So why would this be any different? You guys think just because you have suffered PR set backs, that you should offer suicide to appease the world? Bizarre! Regardless of what is offered it will never be enough, as recent statements from Arabs around the world attest to, only ALL of Palestine will do. Now maybe the offer as a PR strategy might be interesting. We already know the Arabs will reject it. So why not offer it? The Arabs have had the same approach in negotiating, they tell you what they want, and won't budge on a single point. It's time the world see that clearly, if that is the goal, then I'm for it. Maybe the Left inadvertently stumbled onto the truth, while they might be serious, the Arabs are NOT. This offer would prove that, while that isn't the "Left's" intention, the "Right" could use their misguided offer to their PR benefit. Prove once and for all...what we already know...that the Arabs are the main obstacle to peace.

This is not the time for capitulation or retreat .This person who advocates the 67 borders , let him go live in gaza with a star of David on his house ,then we will see what he proposes .The God of Israel is with the nation of Israel and against all other nations .Israel it is time for you to find your Davids, Samsons , Elijahs , Gideons ETC. .Your Christian brothers are praying for you dailey for strenth and victory . All of Israels enemies will be defeated and Israel will be victorios . Read from the book of Isaiah chap 17 also Ezekiel chap38 and 39 and many more. Do not be influenced by the weak ,it says in Isaiah chap 41:10: Fear not for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will stregthen you, Yes,I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Thanks IHN Pat
44. Pragmatic choices
Beauchard ,   Amsterdam   (04.05.11)
I do not care to what party the only man left standing belongs at the end of an existential conflict between Jews and Muslims. I want peace not victory for one side. Ideological or religious righteousness does not lead to a peaceful solution of a conflict. To achieve an enduring peace you have to make pragmatic choices. This new initiative makes those choices. The alternative: perpetual war.
45. two state solution at '67 borders
ed ,   reno, america   (04.05.11)
i'm sorry but apparrently these people do not listen or see. the only peace that the supposed palestinians want and the rest of the arab and muslim people want is the total elimination of Israel as a nation and as a people, period! this constant falling back on the belief that your enemies will allow peace if you give them enough is a joke and avery sick and sad one at that! there is nothing that Israel can give that will appeas the demands of the supposed palestinians and the arab and muslim regimes!
46. regime changes creating instability these guys say give land
zionist forever   (04.05.11)
In Egypt Mohammed El Baradei is threatening to declare was on Israel if he is elected president and Israel attacks Gaza and other non islamist candidates wanting to renegotiate the peace treaty. In Lebanon Hizbollah have toppled the democratic government and turned Lebanon into an Iranian satellite state. In Syria Assad is struggling to survive and if he goes he may be replaced by Hizbollah, the Muslim Brotherhood or some other islamist radicals. Assad himself may decide to go to war with Israel in a last ditch attempt to survive if all else fails. Hamas have turned Gaza into a giant rocket launch pad. There is a real risk that if the Jordanian monarchy is toppled they could be replaced by a radical palestinian government armed with F16s and Challenger tanks looking fir the next arab / Israel war. At a time like this when arab governments are being toppled left right and centre and these idiots think we should start land for peace. Land for peace is based on assumption that the arabs will always want peace no matter who is in power. A dictator you can predict him movements and prepare for them. The problem with democracy is it is based on the unknown today we have a moderate government who wants peace, tomorrow it might be a radical government who is not interested in peace and decides to tear up the treaty. These people should start thinking like soldiers again and not idealists. A soldier knows you don't put down your gun just because the bad guy says he doesn't want to fight it out. Now more than ever we should be more skeptical about the idea of giving up land.

Change is always coming Look at the 15 million or so illegals that have managed to sneak into the USA Don't worry about panic, if and when the Egyptians attack, it's bye bye Aswan High Damn & Suez Canal Just think, if you think the price of gasoline is high now, you'll really see it inflated if war should come Best you attend to your own knitting at home Unemployment, Inflation & Obama are just a few of your problems Only an idiot would gloat, you just proved it
52. Wonderful ideas and it will happen.
Michael ,   California, USA   (04.05.11)
The Right cries loudly, but so what? In a state of peace Jews can live in the West Bank and the Arabs will share in the money those settlers will bring from American donors. The hard working Israelis will benefit from the fruits of their creativity within the '67 borders. And the wiggling ones will continue to wiggle, on their knees or standing, who cares? Indeed, it is possible, it is high time to end the conflict.
53. Idiots
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (04.05.11)
Who is paying these guys they are idiots. They know nothing of International Law. Eugene Rostow Under Secretary of state author of UN resolution 242 wrote in 1991 that Israel and Jews had a right to settle the West Bank, and that the British Mandate cannot be rescended. He also said that Israel was not required to go back to the 67 borders.
54. A dying breed of delusional leftist Israelis
Jake ,   USA   (04.05.11)
This is merely a last gasp of nonsense. I hope the current government doesn't dignify this with a response.
55. The WEAK Appeasers who Endanger Israel
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (04.05.11)
Jihad is an obligation in the Koran! The Koran commands all nations and peoples are conquered and subjugated under extremely cruel Islamic sharia law where defenseless non-Muslims have NO human rights. How dare the treacherous Left endanger not only Israel but the entire Free World with their disgusting plot to surrender Israel to barbaric enemies bent on a Second Holocaust.
56. Arafat's PLO Explained the Peace Process Conquest
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (04.05.11)
In 1980, PLO Terrorist Leader Arafat explained the peace process: "Peace for us means the destruction of Israel . We are preparing for an all-out war, a war which will last for generations." Egypt created the PLO. The PLO Charter calls for the destruction of Israel. On the same day Oslo "Peace" Accords were signed in 1993, PLO leader, Arafat stated: "Since we cannot defeat Israel in war we do this in stages. We take any and every territory that we can of Palestine, and establish sovereignty there and we use it as a springboard to take more. When the time comes, we can get the Arab nations to join us for the final blow against Israel."
57. entertainment for anti Israel lobby.
Isaac Barr ,   Michigan, USA   (04.05.11)
From time to time frustrated Israeli come with a "peace initiative". Such was the Accord In 2009 extension of the original 2003 Geneva Accord which dealt with mechanisms to implement a Two State solution, security, border crossings, roads, water management, environmental concerns, the economy, and division of Jerusalem. This "Accord" has combined unofficial Israeli and Palestinian effort. Yet, agreements are not a revolution, they are a final stage of a long process the corner stone of which is education, preparation of two communities to live together. There has to be teaching from kindergarten and on that coexistence has to take place. It is the text books at school, radio, TV and sermons at the mosques. Without it no initiative, agreement or treaty will last. Peace is not a 400 pages of regulations, but bilateral conviction to that peace is the only option. Basics in Palestinian Israel relations are far from resolution. Political Islam locally and internationally will not allow "peace". It is WAQF, the Holy Land including Israel, cannot be owned by Infidels, Jews or Christians. Hamas/Fatah Covenants preach Israel destruction and killing Jews. Israeli feels forever threatened and has to be recognized as a Jewish state prior to any agreements. Signed agreements between the parties have to be respected (no Taqyya) and Palestinians must abandon terror as a way to resolve conflicts. Meddling of every state on the planet, UN in particular, in Palestinian Israel affairs vastly complicates matters and any agreement is practically out of the hands of the parties. Lastly, given that Israel unilateral disengagement in 2005 from Gaza achieved anything but war makes the private initiative of some "prominent" Israelis nothing less than entertainment for anti Israel lobby.

solomon ,   bklyn   (04.05.11)
This "new" initiative is anything but pragmatic, or new. Everything mentioned has already been tried, and failed thanks to the arabs. '67 "borders" [actually 1948 armistice lines]? Arabs attacked them. Golan withdrawal? Israel withdrew from Kuneitra as Syria promised to turn it into a model, rebuilt city of co-existence. Didn't happen. East Jerusalem? This notion came up only in the 60's (or was it 70's?). It is not mentioned in the Koran and they already have Mecca and Medina, so the arabs never thought of it before. And, thanks to the Israeli government generosity, they already control the Temple Mount. Peace? The arabs still teach their children it is good to kill Jews. They do not recognize Israel's existence. And if they did they could always resort to the ruse of another arab country invading Israel through "Palestine". This is not about righteousness. This is about life and death...for Israelis! Remember: Israel is constantly threatened with annihilation, both in word and deed. Israel has never threatened another country with annihilation. Response, defence and defeat, yes, but not annihilation.
