61. Charge them all with treason.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.05.11)
Israel must no longer tolerate leftists going behind the back of Israelis and offering them our land. Israeli voters made it crystal clear we reject the evil Two State Final Solution. We reject an 8 mile (15 minute tank ride) waist. We reject further lunatic Israeli retreat. The figures behind these dangerous phony "peace plans" should be given a week to recant. If they refuse to do so, charge them all with treason. Enough is enough!
62. 67 is DEAD, Israel will keep expanding.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (04.05.11)
63. I note that 99% of these talkbacks...
Rafi ,   US   (04.05.11)
... are opposed to this initiative/ plan. So we've established that the right is, if nothing else, vocal. I also wonder how many of those same talkbacks actually served in combat or otherwise have been in action on the front lines or in the territories? The reason I ask is that a large portion of the signatories on this plan have: former Shin Bet chiefs Yaakov Peri and Ami Ayalon, former Mossad Chief Danny Yatom and former IDF Chief Amnon Lipkin-Shahak and General (Res) Amram Mitzna, among others. So... let's see... even tho I don't agree with all elements of the plan... which group has more credibility on dealing with issues of security? A group of vocal right-wingers - or individuals who have actually been in the mix at personal risk and who know the enemy/ peace partner directly? Who may actually know what they are talking about? Let's see... a difficult choice indeed...
64. that explains a lot
Golan ,   Modiin   (04.05.11)
it explains why Israel ignored Arab terror from 1993 to 2002, it explains why Gush Katif was sacrificed for a wrong headed and severely dangerous move that only weakened Israel, and why Iran;s nuclear reactor went hot. Its time to purge the defense establishment of these idiots (I am giving them the benefit of the doubt because the other option is not so kind.)
65. Shellschocked?
Joe ,   NYC   (04.05.11)
Are these people on Crack?
66. Do they propose the UN flag over Jerusalem?
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (04.05.11)
"Temple Mount...would not be governed by either side." That reminds me of members of the Obama Administration (Samantha Power, General Jim Jones, former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel) who advocated having Jerusalem governed by the UN.
67. the substance is the same but the faces are new
zionist forever   (04.05.11)
Give up Judea & Samaria with minor land swaps, divide Jerusalem, give palestinians a territorial corridor and the Golan to Syria. I am pretty sure we have heard this one before. Oslo Camp David Geneva Iniitiative Roadmap Now we have Mitzna's manifest I might be wrong but this looks to me like the same old broken record which we just keep giving new names to make it sound like something new and revolutionary. The only thing I see different here is the people who are proposing it and the fact its being proposed by Amram Mitzna & Danny Yatom. Why are these guys any more special and knowledgable than the other washout ex generals like Barak? They all had basically the same jobs, its the same plan with a new name so why are we supposed to get so excited about this?
68. #63. Vast majority of Israel oppose lunatic retreat.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.05.11)
#63. In Israel, virtually every adult is prepared to fight in war. The vast majority of Israelis oppose lunatic retreat. Indeed, Israeli retreat is the root cause of virtually all Israel's most serious problems. That is why the parties of Israeli retreat: Labor and Meretz, are being voted out of existence. A recent poll shows Israeli youth, who do most combat fighting, are more nationalistic than ever before. So there is no merit to the claim that Israelis, with combat experience, favor further lunatic Israeli retreat.
69. Palestine #12
Avi ,   Nyc   (04.05.11)
The border is from the sea to the desert , well beyond the river. Any real Palestinian ( aka the Jews) knows this.
70. Reply @60 solomon
Beauchard ,   amsterdam   (04.05.11)
I fought in th six day war, so I know how it was and is. Then we said we can trade land for peace. Not, we have a part of Alexander Jannaeus's empire back. I know it is the Arabs fault. So what. A pragmatic solution is needed now. This rehashed Geneva Accord is a pragmatic solution. BTW, former Shin Bet chiefs Yaakov Peri and Ami Ayalon, former Mossad Chief Danny Yatom and former IDF Chief Amnon Lipkin-Shahak and General (Res) Amram Mitzna are not my favourite people. However, I do not think they would propose a plan that would jeapordize Israel's security.
71. if you're stupid enough, you can give away everything,,,
dante ,   uk   (04.05.11)
and, after you have given away everything, what will you have? what will all the giving get you? nothing but more war.
72. They already had it all
Norman   (04.05.11)
What makes the left think that another war want happen ??? But the next war will be far more deadlier than the previous ones. Can the Left get it thru their minds that most if not close to all arabs don't want the Jewish state Period.
73. #70 Beauchard
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.05.11)
Kol hakavod. You have both my esteem and sympathy for having fought in the war. I am glad you survived. SIncerely. I still disagree with you, however. I DO think their plan jeapordizes Israel's security, although I am sure the former chiefs do not. I feel the arabs have to prove themselves; that they can coexist in the same area with Israel. Step 1: Stop teaching hatred. State unequivocally that they give up on the "right" of return. Accept Israel. Those are basics. Step 2: Accept the interim agreement that Netanyahu proposes: police force only, Israel around the borders, etc. I know they want more. Long ago I might have said give them what they want. But they have to show they mean what they say about peace. Giving them everything they want just because they repeat it (what they want) ad nauseum, is not the way. Build trust first. They have a start with the PA police and the IDF, but it's only a start.
74. Sorry #68 Chaim, in my book...
Rafi ,   US   (04.05.11)
... in terms of credibility, the thoughtful analysis of former Chiefs of Staff as well heads of Mossad and Shin Bet trumps any polls or wild claims that you can provide.
75. Just how will the arabs make this little state sucessful?
BJL ,   usa   (04.06.11)
What will they produce? How will they make it not on the welfare hand-outs of the world? Lets face it. It is only part 2 of Arafats plan. Take away Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem from the Jews, then arm up like crazy and finish the job. Do these men not see what is happening in Lebanon? Israel left Lebanon and Hizbullah took over and now they have 40,000 missiles. Do these men not see what is happening in Gaza? Israel left and Hamas took over and now they have probably 20,000 missiles. And now hand over the high ground of Judea, Samaria and Yerushalayim? Aaaaah hell no!
76. Not too late, but just a bit small
Ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (04.06.11)
Somfalvi makes a sweeping comment about the 40 signatories, and neither he nor his Ynet editor bothered to read the original piece in the NYT where they are much more professional with facts - despite being what the usual red neck TBs would dismiss as LEFTY. Danny Yatom for example was a Labor MK and Labor has hardly been LEFTY for a very long time. He was also head of the Mossad and is now a banker and Kadima supporter - neither hardly LEFTY more like centre RIGHTIST. But the original article described the signatories not as LEFTISTs but as " LEFT of Mr Netanyahu..." As for Number 1, the word is democraCy and if you can't be bothered to spell it correctly it says a lot about what the word actually means to you and it suggests you don't think it worth your spit, which pretty well sums up most of the rest of the usual reactionary attitudes reflected here. Amongst the signatories are people who have risked their lives for this nation, worked to secure it, dedicated themselves to our future, and done so just so that these spit-worthies can mouth off their prejudiced little Israel inanities- that's Navuv Ve'Tipshi for the mentally Un-Alfabetim- in these columns. If we allowed them to direct our destiny we'd end up on Metzada and as it is, thanks to them, we're half way there already.

CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (04.06.11)
(retry) Where is your PROOF that the palis or their LEADERS have or WILL agree that "In a state of peace Jews can live in the West Bank ..."? And do SHOW all the PROOF that there are INTERNATIONALLY recognised borders since 1967.
