The power of Egypt is nothing to IDF. Egypt is good for nothing. Go and eat your FOUL MADAMAS
62. #51, Confused in Tel Aviv
Chatich   (04.08.11)
"A mother and daughter were killed. Imagine if they had been Jews, as they so easily could have been." The difference: if a mother and daughter in Israel are killed (G*d forbid) it's because hamas deliberately aims at them. When civilians in gaza are killed, it's because the terrorists deliberately hide behind them. In both cases hamas is to blame. These are very simple concepts, no reason to be astounded or confused.

Perhaps you could ask Constantin Straturula, Virgil Martinesc, Hani al-Mahdi, Afiq Zahavi-Ohayon, Dorit Masarat Benisian, Yuval Abebeh, Ayala-Haya Ella abu-Kasis, Aviv Iszak, Ofir Kit, Liron Harpaz, Assaf Yitzhaki,Manee Singmueangphon, Lutfi Nasraladin, Irit Sheetrit, Beber Vaknin, Amnon Rosenberg, Shuli Katz, Jimmy Kadoshim, Oleg Lipson, Lev Cherniak, Roni Yihye, Carlos Andrés Mosquera Chávez, Oshri Oz, Shirel Friedman, Yaakov Yaakobov, Fatima Slutsker, Dana Galkowicz, Bi Shude, Salah Ayash Imran, Muhammed Mahmoud Jaroun, Nissim Arbiv, Jitladda Tap-arsa, Michael Chizhik, Tiferet Tratner, Mordechai Yosepov, orWeerachai Wongput. You will have to ask real loud, because they are all dead from those 'never is' rockets and mortars. Hundreds more have been maimed by them and tens of thousands suffer from shock. It has been many Jewish mothers and children you moron.
66. observer #60 good thing we have never done that
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (04.08.11)
We have attacked military targets that happen to have be located within civilian areas. So indiscriminate bombing, just the opposite. Now how about Hamas that launches rockets at our cities that have no military targets whatsoever?
67. To: No. 14
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.08.11)
A known and internationally-acknowledged terrorist rabble firing rockets into Israel is what is against the law. In fact, it is a war crime. Israel is a sovereign state, and all sovereign states have an affirmative duty to protect and defend their citizens. That means that Israel has an absolute right to retaliate against rocket fire. It is despicable and disgraceful that Hamas chooses to put rocket launchers in civilian areas, but that does not diminish Israel's absolute right to destroy those rocket launchers. If there are civilian deaths as a result, all the blame accrues to Hamas. That is black-letter law.
68. To: No. 27
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.08.11)
Has it occurred to your dim brain that if no missiles and mortars were fired into Israel from Gaza, there would be no need for Israel to destroy any missile launchers? But Hamas does launch missiles and fire mortars, and the fact that they choose to do it from crowded areas does not diminish Israel's absolute right to protect and defend its citizens. All civilian deaths in Gaza that occur as a result are therefore exclusively the fault of Hamas.

Here is an excellent resource for you. Go to: https://sslearthquake.usgs.gov/ens/register and register. You will have to set parameters. The ones I use are -90.0/90.0 latitude and 180.0/-180.0 longitude for M5.5 at all times. You will receive notifications every time an earthquake happens. Just click on the globe in the notification, and you will be taken to lots of maps and info. You can also explore the site to find out anything you want to know regarding earthquakes, tectonic plates, etc., etc. This USGS site has tons of information.
70. #14, war crime to fire on civilians, to fire from
ralph   (04.08.11)
among civilians, not war crime to fire back. you get no free card, how stupid can you get. let me fire at you but you cannot fire back because i brought my family with me.

observer ,   Egypt   (04.08.11)
To ensure that the Geneva Conventions are respected, the Parties to the conflict should secure the cooperation and admit the supervision of Protecting Powers, in other words neutral States appointed to safeguard the interests of the Parties to the conflict in enemy countries.
73. to 60
Barney ,   USA   (04.08.11)
not indiscriminate bombing but bombing where rocket mortar activity is. once they shoot rockets into Israel and civilian areas all laws are off the table. don't believe it? just look at Israel's response. shoot rockets at civilians and then try and hide behind the law or call cease fire. nice try!
74. #3 - that only came AFTER your rocket barrage
William ,   Israel   (04.08.11)
one of them targeting a SCHOOL BUS! Don't cry if you bring IDF retaliation. Before Hamas launched rockets on Israeli civilians, Gaza was quiet. Not anymore.
75. #14 - Perhaps you;d like to actually learn the law
William ,   Israel   (04.08.11)
1) the IDF showed that the civilians were not the target. The target, a rocket firing group of terrorists, was infact the target - admitted by Hamas. 2) Hamas committed war crimes by placing their rocket firing next to civilians. This is against "every law" as you say 3) Under the Geneva Convention, any civilians or civilian infrastructure can be targeted if they are infact used for military operations. The Geneva Convention is quite explicit in these matters because scum like Arab terrorists love to use human shields and the law should not protect this war criminal act. All your post tells me, besides that you are no student of law, is that you support the use of human shields.
76. #15 - Gaza is only 7th most crowded place
William ,   Israel   (04.08.11)
So that means 6 other more dense countries are able to have peace despite having harder situations. I wonder why. One need only to see Gaza to understand that a good portion of it is sand dunes and farm land, and not wall-to-wall people as you claim. Perhaps you need to actually approach Hamas and demand they STOP using human shields. Why do they operate next to a school, a hospital, or in the courtyard of a residential complex when they could fire from a sand dune or farm? I think we both know the answer there, which Goldstone also added to his report despite the pressure against it from UNHRC.
77. #27 - when was the last time you picked up a dictionary??
William ,   Israel   (04.08.11)
Hitting a terrorist cell firing rockets against civilians doesn't seem to meet the definition of "genocide", especially when the Gazan population GROWS rather than declines. Nice try Nate, but take your hatred elsewhere.
78. #35 - until we hit the production facility and Hamas leaders
William ,   Israel   (04.08.11)
that should bring up the per rocket Return on Investment very quickly for Israel.... but don't complain when the IDF acts this way in response (per Intl Law).
79. #42 - what's meant and what is written - 2 different things
William ,   Israel   (04.08.11)
but as it is written, civilians lose their protection if they are used for military purposes. In other words, if Hamas sends a child with a bomb to kill soldiers, he may be a "civilian" because he doesn't have a cool uniform or Hamas ID card but under the law, he's a militant. But since Hamas fires directly from civilian areas, and such actions have errantly harmed Gazans by exploding early or falling short and hitting a Gazans house, they are in direct violation of intl law and are committing war crimes. And one wonders...why are you and the rest of the Arabs silent on that? Perhaps Gazans are really that much of a concern for you after all.
80. To: No. 51
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.08.11)
1. Excuse me, but you do not live in Sderot. If you did, then you might not casually dismiss "shock," "fear" and the high levels of post-traumatic stress disorder diagnosed in Sderot and environs. And there HAVE been deaths -- what do you think happens to people who have heart issues? Some of them die -- from fear and shock. 2. I am growing tired of saying this, but -- one more time: Israel is a sovereign state. All sovereign states have an affirmative duty to defend their citizens. If Hamas is so depraved as to put their rocket launchers in crowded civilian areas, then all the blame for civilian deaths in Gaza accrues to them. They also stockpile weapons in schools, hospitals and mosques which, by the way, turns those schools, hospitals and mosques into legitimate military targets. Those, Israel very generously chooses to look past. The rocket launchers, however, cannot be overlooked. 3. Where were your crocodile tears when five members of the Fogel family were mercilessly slaughtered while they slept. Another terrorist rabble -- the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, military branch of Fatah -- very proudly claimed credit. That was a father, mother, and three small children. Is it an ersatz "Palestinian" thing -- slitting the throats of a sleeping family? That would certainly explain why Hamas has no problem putting rocket launchers in crowded civilian areas. That's pretty astounding, isn't it?
81. To #51
Dino Domingo ,   Vancouver, Canada   (04.08.11)
Sarah B will probably be shocked by this but I have to say you are crazy...why should people have to live in constant fear? you are saying these rockets are not killing people...but thats only because they dont have the technology to aim properly...if so there would be many dead Israeli's...I don't normally defend many Israeli comments on here although believe it or not I support Israel over any Middle Eastern country...in this case they are 100% right to defend and destroy any danger! they have a right to keep their citizens safe just as all of us around the world do! its one thing to retaliate directly to the areas that are firing and another to do something completely inhumane...i believe they are doing the minimus necessary...in fact I would blast the hell out of more than they are doing!
82. #51 - could have been had bunkers and Red Dawn...
William ,   Israel   (04.08.11)
not been activated by the IDF. You see - you live in a State where life is honored and citizens are protected. Yet, in Gaza, civilians are used as shields, NO shelters were ever built (except for Hamas leaders), and life is cheap. Why should Israel be criticized for actually protecting its citizens the way that is obligated of a State? BTW, we've already had Jewish children and parents killed in cold-blood by Hamas. Perhaps you missed it.
83. #60 - GOTCHA! Bombing wasn't indiscriminate
William ,   Israel   (04.08.11)
So now we see the problem of your comprehension here - the fact that you're relying on your own opinion and not facts. The IDF did not bomb "indiscriminately" but rather targeted the very cell that launched rockets towards civilians while hiding behind civilians. Hamas already admitted this - why can't you?
84. #51. That's a moronic argument
bob96 ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.08.11)
That's one of the stupidiest things I've ever seen over here. If a man who lives just in front of your house fires a gun at YOU, or, more likely, to your small children playing outside, and misses, is he less a murderer because of that? And if he KEEPS doing it each and every day, sooner or later he'll get lucky - and a jewish child will be dead. How long would you tolerate that situation? Until there is blood in YOUR yard? You're a moron, that's all.
85. To: No. 72
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.08.11)
Gaza is not a country. It is non-sovereign territory. As such, it is not a signatory to the Conventions and thus cannot claim protection under the Conventions. Congratulations! Your post at No. 72 is worthy of a Darwin Award.
86. You shot anit tank missile on a school bus ...
Alon ,   UK   (04.09.11)
and you complain? You shoot us - we kick your smelly arse. Stop crying all the time. You bring it on your selves by rocketing civilians. Try to retaliate Israel and you see what you are going to get.
87. World Citizen?
Alon ,   UK   (04.09.11)
It is funny that all the muslims call themselves "World Citizens" as they want to spread all over and like a cancer spread their barbaric idiology. Israel is lawless? Then what you are? You are barbaric king of virus which does mess anywhere in the world. Go ISRAEL!
88. To 60 Observer Lets look at the Geneva Conventions then!
NewMan   (04.09.11)
The 4th Geneva Conventions are explicit in these matters. Art. 28. The presence of a protected person may not be used to render certain points or areas immune from military operations. Art. 29. The Party to the conflict in whose hands protected persons may be, is responsible for the treatment accorded to them by its agents, irrespective of any individual responsibility which may be incurred. The fact is that there is NO equivalence to from the attacks of Hamas and the IDF. Hamas is deliberately attacking civilian targets which is a direct war crime. While unfortunate, regretable, and creates deep sorrow that collateral damage occurs during IDF operations. The fact that Hamas embeds itself within civilian areas does not make those areas immune from military operations. And by embedding themselves Hamas has taken responsibility for all the civilians in those areas. This is the law.
89. TO: RELENTLESS SARAH B.
Israeli 2   (04.09.11)
I do SOOOOOOOOOO much love you!!! God bless you and God bless Israel. Shabbat Shalom
90. To: No. 15
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.09.11)
First of all, Hamas acknowledges that they use human shields. They're actually rather proud of it. Secondly, it is clear that you are not at all familiar with Gaza's territory. There are plenty of deserted areas that the terrorists could use, but they count on Israeli retaliation, and then parade photos of civilian deaths for which they are exclusively responsible. Your statement about "Israelis [sic] provocateurs" is beyond ridiculous. The missiles are fired from Gaza City or Khan Younis. There are no Israelis living in the Strip. Israel is a sovereign state and like all sovereign states, it has an affirmative duty to protect and defend its citizens from attack. The only rogues here are the terrorist scum that have no regard for human life -- not even their fellow Gazans. That is what is immoral.
