31. LOL@you, #27
Jake   (04.21.11)
"Palestine", what's that? Why don't the Arabs stop trying to be something that they're not. There's no such nationality in history as "Palestinian".
32. Binding US law: united Jerusalem is capital of ONLY Israel
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (04.21.11)
A 1994 US law requires the President to regard the re-united city of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and only of Israel. He has no legal authority to propose (much less to impose) anything that conflicts with this. If he wants the PA state part of "Jerusalem" to be the suburb of Abu Dis (where the PA parliament building is), laying outside of the Jerusalem municipality, to be their capital, that was agreed to a decade ago, as was the US position that the "Right-of-Return" is absurd and a non-starter the PA will have to abandon. As for emphasis on Israel's security, paper promises and a boost in Israel's $3 billion/year won't cut it. The starting point has to be a multi-trillion dollar layered air defense system that makes it physically impossible for anti-tank missiles, mortars, GRADs, cruise missiles or Iranian missiles to enter Israeli airspace, a dozen squadrons each of F35s and F22 raptors, a fleet of 4-5 nuclear submarines with Tridents like UK received, and a mandatory ban on any US or EU trade or arms deliveries to any country that fails to maintain fully normalized trade and diplomatic relations with Israel. As well as a total ban on US diplomatic and trade relations with any state not moving its Israel embassy to Jerusalem within 12 months of a deal. There must be a provision for US and NATO ground troops to demilitarize and destroy all Gaza weapons and terrorist groups before Israel implements any "recognition". If Obama doesn't want to ante up, he should STFU about a Palestinian state that can lob anti-tank missiles at Israeli schoolbuses in suburban Tel Aviv. American promises and "secutiry guarantees" didn't keep Nasser from blockading the Tiran Straits, didn't stop a single SCUD from hitting Israel, didn't stop the Saudis from moving their F-15s to the Israeli border, didn't prevent Egypt from violating demilitarized Sinai with GRAD shipments to Gaza, and didn't slow down Iran's nuclear program one bit. Obama will have to do MUCH better than this, given the poor US track record of keeping "guarantee" promises, and he doesn't have the money to pay for it. Needless to say, NATO and the Brits can not be part of Israel's security. But opening his mouth about a transparently flawed and bogus "peace plan" will insure his recognition as a Carter-like amateur by the US voters and guarantee his defeat in 2012 - so that part is good.
33. Hamas was elected to power NOT Abbas
Yechiel Christ   (04.21.11)
Obama is supporting the creation of a dictatorship under Abbas. Hamas say they want to destroy Israel. When Hamas says they don't want to destroy Israel AND recognize Israel as a Jewish State then there can be a two-state final solution. Not before. Abbas and the PA have been irrelevant since the 2007 elections.
34. Obama Peace Plan Illegal
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (04.21.11)
Eugen Rostow author of UN resolution 242 said that Israel had the right to defensible borders and that right and the British Mandate can't be rescinded. Eugene Rostow Under Secretary of state author of UN resolution 242 wrote in 1991 that Israel and Jews had a right to settle the West Bank, and that the British Mandate cannot be rescinded. He also said that Israel was not required to go back to the 67 borders.
35. Ehud Barak
William Sachel ,   USA   (04.21.11)
In my opinion Ehud Barak who is pushing for a initiative is more dangerous to Israel than Iran is to Israel

40. Can we please stop ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.22.11)
... beating this dead horse? Israel has a few quid pro quos, too. 1. There are thirty-odd ersatz "Palestinian" organizations, each of which purports to be the sole true representative of the ersatz "Palestinian" people. What each of these organizations have in common is that their commitment to the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people is written into their charter. Those will have to be repudiated. 2. The ersatz "Palestinians" have consistently refused to recognize (i) the right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland and (ii) the essential identity of the State of Israel as a Jewish state. These are de minimis requirements; one does wonder why the ersatz "Palestinians" are being so obstinate about acknowledging the obvious. 3. Abbas and his cohorts remind me of the old adage -- you can dress up a pig in silk and satin and you can put lipstick on it -- but it is still a pig. You can dress a terrorist in an Armani suit and a Turnbull & Asser shirt -- but he is still a terrorist. 4. Last, but far from least, is the practical nature of how international law works. The principle is quite simple: to the victor goes the spoils. That would be Israel. The vanquished do not get to set the terms and conditions of anything. They get to tuck their mangy tails between their legs and slink off to their middens.
41. To: No. 25
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.22.11)
What right of return and what compensation is there for the one million Jews who were expelled from their homes in Arab and Moslem lands following Israel's victory in 1948. They left with little more than the clothes on their backs. They were true refugees. On the other hand, the ersatz "Palestinians" who remain displaced persons today left voluntarily. If you leave voluntarily, you cannot come back. Period. Full stop. What part of that do you NOT understand?
42. to nr. 41.
worldwonder ,   world/planet earth   (04.22.11)
that about 1 million jews were forced to leave several arab countries in 1948 is a shame/crime. it happened in those countries and you cannot blame the palestinians for that. it is easy to guess who was responsible/guilty of that. perhaps some palestinians left voluntarily the land west of the river jordan, but i donot agree with the lie that all palestinians left voluntarily their country in 1948 and after that. this is one of the proofs that both parties, the zionist "israelis"/the "israeli" zionists on one side and on the other side the palestinians and other arabs/islamists have committed atrocities and (war-)crimes as long as this conflict lasts. both parties are not perfect and are just human beings with all their faults/mistakes and shortcomings. of course nobody/not any people/not any country/not any continent is perfect .this is perhaps a realistic, impartial, unbiased and objective establishment and fact and everybody can has her/his own thought/opinion about this.

solomon ,   bklyn   (04.22.11)
The refugees are the result of actions and inactions of Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan...and then ignored by them. They did not accept them and kept them in camps for political reasons. Israel absorbed the Jewish refugees who were expelled by arab countries and numbered more than the arabs refugees. I know: facts are inconvenient, aren't they?
44. LOL, now thats funny...
eporue ,   europe   (04.22.11)
..."that Netanyahu, who was invited to address a joint meeting of the US Congress, is considering the possibility of pre-empting Obama's proposal with his own initiative in his upcoming speech. " ....WHAT t.f. does he "consider" to speak about instead....???

Fedup   (04.22.11)
No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of the right to enter his own country.
46. #28 - Pretty sure you have a better life in Las Vegas
William ,   Israel   (04.22.11)
and I'm sure that you wouldn't want to live under the PA. Many "Palestinians" don't want to. and living in Israel wouldn't be good for you either - the Israeli Arabs who actually stayed and worked hard to build a life here will resent your sorry ass for cowardly running away, you would be untrusted by most of the Israeli population, and more than likely be arrested many times as you and your ilk do not accept Israeli rule or sovereignty - the same reason you didn't return in 1949 when the offer was first made. Until then....keep playing 16-Black.
47. #25 - you actually to own something to have it "stolen"
William ,   Israel   (04.22.11)
and since most land records dispute Arab claims on ownership, there really isn't a case here. Abbas went to Turkey back in 2004 to demand Ottoman land records to prove "Palestinian" ownership, then he suddenly dropped it, because it torpedoed the "Palestinian" narrative. Arabs cannot claim State land which they never had control over, and that was 95% of it, with the remaining 5% owned between Jews and Arab. BTW - monetary compensation was offered to the tune of billions, with the US, EU, IMF - everyone putting in something, but Arab leaders rejected it (specifically Arafat) because they want all "refugees" to return to Israel - as you can see, a real agenda.
48. #41 - let's use the same equation, Sarah
William ,   Israel   (04.22.11)
1 million Jewish refugees forced out to live in Israel. They raised 3 generations of family, with an average of 3 children per generation....that's a total of just under 4.3 million. I think that eclipses even the most exaggerated numbers of "Palestinian" refugees.
49. "ObamaFail - The Peace Plan"

No recognition of Israel as the Jewish State? I wonder why. Guess what? Zero chance for that to work.
50. re: Ersatz Jews such as Sarah

Why arent we discussing the right of jews to return to their ancient homelands in Poland, Germany, Ukraine and Russia? You would be welcomed back with open arms.
51. #25 split/schizo/wes
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.22.11)
What stolen property are you referring to ? You must be thinking of the property that the Jews were forced to leave behind when the Arabs forced them to flee Then again, who cares what you say, you're a non-entitty
52. VOLUNTEER/S NEEDED
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.22.11)
Myabe, at long last, one Pro-Palestinian poster can come up with the answers to some rather relatively easy to answer questions, which would assuredly substantiate your claims to a Palestine Can you show me what the so-called "Palestinian's" are basing their claim on ? Have a go at it, come up with just a two or three answers in their behalf When was the country of Palestine founded and by whom? Where did the Palestinian people originate from? What were Palestine's borders? Who were its neighbors? What language did the Palestinians speak? What writing did they use? What manuscripts or records did they leave whether written or engraved? What was their religion? Where are their temples? What monuments attest to their existence? What was the name of their capital? Name its other major cities.
53. OBAMAS PLANS FAIL & CAUSE MISERY
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (04.22.11)
Beware of Obama's Peace Plans, they'll fail just like all his other plans Stimulus Plan, a total flop Unemployment, far worse than when than when he took office, it’s more than 9% Inflation, running around 10% GM Cars, he took it over, nobody's buying them, SUV'S are out of style, now he’s looking to dump the U.S. holdings in General Motors Gasoline $1.75 per gal. when he took office, it’s now more than $4 per gallon Health Care, price increases in his so called "Affordable Care" are running rampant Midas had the "Golden Touch", whatever Obama touches turns to crap
54. 41 - Jews who were expelled from their homes in Arab and Mos
split ,   US   (04.22.11)
1. This subject got nothing to do with Palestinians. 2. Some of the Jews got kicked out thanks to Mossad "encouragement" like the Jews in Iraq or in Egypt after Lavon affair. 3. There's a lots of evidence that they didn't leave volunterally and that you are a liar. The one how can you lie day after day knowing that we're aware that you do that every time you click "submit",...
55. Arab rejection will save us because
Rachel ,   US   (04.22.11)
We have a leader who can't wait to sell us out. How much I miss Begin/Shamir.
56. Obama's plan
Spencer ,   Israel   (04.22.11)
Any plan of this anti Jewish and anti Israel Obama can't be good for Israel. Barak HUSSEIN Obama's "plan" asks Israel to recognise a Palestinian State but nowhere does he ask these palestinians who have on more than one occasion expressed their desire to see Israel written off the face of the world to recognise the the State of Israel. Oh, and while I am about it, Obama's lack of response to Pollard's personal letter to him which was delivered by President Shimon Peres is just more proof of how anti Jewish this anti-American Obama is. Obama is no good for America, Israel or the free world. He's one complete disaster.
57. # 50 Cali
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.22.11)
Then we, you included, should also be going back "where we came from"; you to...where? Europe? Me and my family to Israel.
58. # 54 split
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.22.11)
Careful, your wishful thinking is showing. The Jews were kicked out, many killed in riots, after Israel won it's independence. There is NO evidence that they didn't leave voluntarily. Show us some evidence! You are using that age old trick of accusing someone of something that you yourself are doing. Sorry, but it is YOU who are the liar; it is YOU who "lie day after day knowing that we're aware that you do that every time you click "submit" ". And you don't even try to finesse it; you do it so blatantly. Just because you want something to be so, does not make it so. Sorry.
59. #45; Fedup, Sorry No Cigar
(04.22.11)
First if you read it it, applies to Nation States, Palestine was neither. Second as with all UN documents "its importance as a legal source for international Human Rights law is disputed because of its non-binding nature". As another example
60. #45; Fedup Re Part 2
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.22.11)
The first was sent by mistake early. But a second example is articled 14 of the Declaration guarantees the right to asylum, and states that "Everyone has the right to seek and enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution" This right suffers, however, from one weakness due to the non-binding nature of the Declaration. States are not obliged to grant asylum, as "to grant asylum to a refugee falls within the sovereign discretion of s state and flows directly from territorial supremacy" So as you can see it's not only with regards to the RoR in article 12. Like I said earlier there is NO such right. It simply is not Law.
