With all the attention focused on meat for human consumption; stunned or not, labeled or not, barbaric or not; the EU (not having anything else to do ) seems to be concerned with the well being of it's citizens and the large anount of money spent on new rules, regulations and labeling. As a matter of interest to the civilized world, why not regulate the slaughtering of innocent men, women, children, daily by the hundreds, the thousands (no one knows ) in the muslim world -- while in the health business, why not inspect, regulate a different type of meat business with an A, B, or C, ALL the houses of ill repute infesting Europe with dubious characters as customers. Their infection is far more damaging to health than mislabeling meat.. The EU seems to be greatly unconcerned with the non stunning of victims and the sanitation of a sharp knife prior to slitting in the arab world. Are they working on solving these problems as well?. We are well aware of the Agriprocessors scandal. If you didn't know, what they were doing was unacceptable under kosher rules. The EU cares more about animal rights then human rights, obviously. Stunning has a failure rate as well. Unfortunately the kosher killing is archaic. It may have been considered the most humane thousands of years ago, but no longer is. In any case a label will make people think about what we do to our animals and perhaps reduce meat consumption.

Nations that restrict or stigmatize Kosher slaughter, allegedly in the name of animal "suffering", are practicing a crass and sleazy form of antisemitism unless they also outlaw all hunting (and whaling. and seal clubbing) which is obviously causing far more animal distress. Kosher slaughter is one of those high maintenance things. If going to have this, then the Jewish people overall need to get interested and knowledgeable and be involved about every part of the process. Of course in asking for this, can hear the screams of protest now, cause it's like no one really wants to be involved.
