marcel you can not defeat hamas, you can not kill an idea, you can discredit the idea, you can show the people the lies that are told, to win this you must put all your resources in to disproving their ideology. Only then you will see eye to eye. The same must also happen in israel, secular israel must stand up and be counted and confront jewish fundamentalism where ever it can.
62. Leave the fighting
Timur ,   Amman, Jordan   (04.28.11)
It is better to just immigrate and live peacefully in another country, and leave the fighting to those who want it. Let them knock themselves out! I meanwhile would rather that my children would live a long an happy life, free from fear and restrictions. Hamas will never ever EVER stop fighting.

Good idea. Are you taking your own advice? The Jewish civilization is much older than any in the region, has outlasted the Romans, Visigoths, and miscellaneous peoples, and will continue to thrive.
64.  What is the matter with Netanyahu ?
Gabe Yakmore ,   Canada   (04.28.11)
The Arabs are running circles around him. He should be replaced without delay. No more peace negotiations. Annex, repatriate, then start talking about lasting peace.
65. "palestinian"
Jorge ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (04.28.11)
The old guy Abbas wanted to retired a long ago and disolved the PA Abbas failed convincing everybody of anything he did. Now Abbas has an opportunity to live his dream so he chose kneelling before hamas and begging for mercy to spare his life and retire. Hamas has nothing to lose and will be free to fight Israel and Jordan. The east habitants will find impossible to live under hamas politicies and will start leaving for Jordan. Regarding a state, it will be difficult to materialize it.

There will be a concerted effort by US State Dept (on behalf of Obama) to "reach out" to Hamas. There will also be an effort coordinated by Turkey and Russia to promote this as an "opportunity to peace". A good portion of the European Left will get in line. There will be "realists" in the US who say "if we don't support the Pals then the Iranians will." Of course, all of these people don't care about Israel's security or survival. It is up to Netanyahu with support from the US (everyone but Obama) to lay down logical criteria for negotiations - same as Olmert/Livni did in 2006. Like in 2006, negotiations will not go anywhere since Hamas will block and Israel can pursue it's own agenda. This should include: 1. Building unlimited in areas B&C 2. Policy of allowing sparsely settled strategically located regions in WB to be annexed to Israel based on popular referendum in the region. This could allow annexation of large blocks of WB. 3. Preparing for regional war. It's coming - look at how Egypt is shifting.

As we both can see in today's paper, the Arabs in Ramallah don't think it will last long either. One gave it a month or two, I'd say he was being charitable. Remember the true signing isn't even for one more month, how many rockets will fly from Gaza into Israel in that time? Do you think they can go 30 days without shooting at Israel? I don't think it's ever been done. I'm taliking ALL terrorist groups. It's always been the shell game, one group says they won't shoot (let's say Hams) at Israel but two other groups keep firing. Then the group (Hamas) says see, we honored our word, right? The liberals praise Hamas for NOT firing rockets while ignoring, PLPF who may have shot two dozen rockets during that time. The world buys this nonsense? Crazy, isn't it?
68. Build, build and build, No negotiations
Don Rosenberg ,   Palatine USA   (04.28.11)
Israel should build and take over more the J/S and drive out all the arabs. This is Israeli land and no talk to abbass and hamass. They are all terrorists. Give them a nice piece of land in the sahara desert where these vermin belong.
69. No peace with Israel
Moragh   (04.28.11)
The Hams of Hamas says "we wont negotiate peace with Israel". Whatever gave those hams the notion Israel would want them as friends? They (the Hams) must fancy their own strut!
70. "You don't make peace with your friends," etc.

Where are all the slogan shouters who keep repeating this meaningless cliché on other threads?

73. Hamas does want peace
Chris   (04.28.11)
Hamas really does want peace. But only peace that involves getting rid of Israel completely. No matter how many times you tell people, they still don't understand this simple and entirely obvious fact.

Excellent TB. Thank you. Comments: 1. The land was also paid for by those who fell in all of Israel's wars (all begun by the arabs) and those who came on the First Aliyah. 2. You CAN defeat Hamas if you kill them AND the idea. Their idea has already been discredited, yet they cling to it as it is "holy".

look at yourself first before blaming/judging other people. otherwise perhaps( your) god is/will not be satisfied with you. long live a bi-national state ( of palestine) for jews and palestinians with the same rights and a free world for everyone!
77. Hypocrisy
zazz   (04.29.11)
Israel first asks how it can negotiate with the Palestinians since they're divided between the West Bank (Fatah) and Gaza (Hamas). When the Palestinians unite, Israel says tells the Fatah to choose between Israel and Hamas. It is hoped that the recently celebrated religious holidays have provided Israel with a timely reminder that hypocrisy is an unsustainable strategy for survival.
78. #77; zazz, Can you READ
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (04.29.11)
I was just wondering, because the headline of this article is: "Hamas: We won't negotiate peace with Israel" What is it, that you seem to NOT understand. Why do you think Israel made those remarks. Hamas is on the record, They will NOT recognize Israel's right to exist, and they will NOT negotiate with Israel. Is this to complicated for you? The "Hypocrisy" is with the Arabs, you silly person.
79. Ridicule
zazz   (04.29.11)
It is remarkable how today's zionists have nothing but ridicule to use in order to downplay the truth, very much like the pharisees of old used ridicule to condemn Jesus for speaking the truth.
