my dear fellow, Haniya's position has been the palestinian position and he arab position since 1948. and that has been BEFORE any 'refusal of negotiating' (actually, thats kind of a bizarre accusation, since its so blatantly untrue) and 'not caring for peace' (whatever that means...i guess launching missiles directly on civilians demonstrates a deep 'caring for peace'?). in fact, the palestinian position has been changing slowly AWAY from the Hamas position for the past 60 + years, so, do you really fully understand "Haniya's position" or do you really just not understand?
32. @#10 palileaks prove other wise
Josh ,   montreal,Canada   (04.29.11)
Palestinians refused to continue to negotiations even before Bibi came into power, they were offered a very generous concessions on israel's part 6 months before American elections, and rather then make a counter offer decided to wait to see who won the elections, they knew with Obama winning and his primary goal to extend a hand to the muslim world would grant them support in the political arena to demand even more concessions, i still don't see the logic that Palestinians refusing to negotiate can be justly blamed on the lack of concessions on Israel's part.
33. God will fight for Israel
Joe ,   Soddy Daisy   (04.29.11)
A closer study of the Bible will give understanding of why the Israeli Defense Force chief of staff says that God's Word is the guidebook for Israel's military today and I would add for the future as well according to Bible prophecy. Since the beginning of the Israeli Defense Force, with the founding of the modern-day state of Israel, every new soldier that was sworn in to defend the Jewish state was sworn in with a weapon in one hand and the Bible in the other. This practice is evidence to the world that the connection of the Jewish people with the Bible and all that it records about God's plan for the Jewish people is absolute. As students of the Bible these military leaders in Israel, not only use God's Word for instruction in military strategy, but they want the new recruits to look to the Bible for their military career as well. There are a number of actual military activities recorded in the Bible that give input for Israel's military strategy. One in particular is the record of Gideon's plan of operation to defeat Israel's enemy (Judges 7). There are many stories of modern-day Israeli wars where only God could have given victory to the Jewish warriors which is based upon the name for the Jewish state Israel, which means "God will fight for you". Indeed this is the case for the future as well when Israel comes under attack from the coalition of nations mentioned in Ezekiel 38 and records that the Lord will fight for the Jewish state by raining hailstone, fire, and brimstone from heaven upon Israel's attacking enemies and destroy them (Ezekiel 38:18 - Ezekiel 39:6). The prophecies of Israel's military guidebook, the Bible, will indeed be fulfilled.
34. Haniyeh Should Be Eliminated Immediately
EZ ,   USA   (04.29.11)
This animal needs to be rescinded from humanity. The world must take an unforgiving stance towards inhumane, sub-human murderers like Haniyeh and hezbo's leader as well as irans. Enough is enough: there can't be a pal state any longer: they've totally lost any legitimacy and have revealed just how horrendous it has been for Israel to have to deal with these animals who regularly depart from humanity and destroy all that is or could be just, good or progressive. Take this man out asap. No more holding back.
35. re: hamas & palestinian lands
joel ,   usa   (04.29.11)
in history, there is no such thing as "palestinian homeland"(philistines) except the "gaza strip" which had been occupied from the original settlers, the philistines who came from the isles of crete; therefore, these palestinians are illegal settlers that can driven off from this territory adn is not worth recognizing, let them go back to where came from in gaza strip, or else remove them perpetually?

joel ,   usa   (04.29.11)
you cannot trust a muslim whose Koran teaches violence & murder to innocent people like what the terrorist Hamas is doing, ok? it is devil's way, whether you are an atheist or, belonging to religious group, murder is the way of Satan from the beginning, and anyone who adheres to that is also a murderer, ok?
37. That didn't take long, LOL

38. Typical Arab thinking
Standing Tall ,   USA   (04.29.11)
It's so typical for these Arabs to think that because they walked on the land they suddenly own it. No other history counts, just their history. It's time that they woke up to reality and realize they will have no peace but war should they continue with that type of thinking. What idiots!
39. #28 Strange indeed.
DR ,   UK   (04.29.11)
Strange is it not that the Arab world had no concern for such UN resolutions or peace when they trod them underfoot in 1947/8 and pursued the genocide of the Jews instead. Strange is it not that the UN Security Council forbids the presence of only one nation - Israel. Libya, Syria, Lebanon and a whole host of Islamic nations sit, head and vote on the council in matters relating to Israel but Israel can have no say even in issues pertaining to itself. The UN General Assembly is dominated by the 57 nations of the OIC, non-aligned nations and those dependent upon Arab oil. The domination at the UN is such that any/all votes can be swayed against Israel. The UN stance against Syria over the past 48 hours shows it has no moral integrity whatsoever. Such hypocrisy on your part. The US supplies much of the Middle East with military aid. Egypt uses US supplied equipment to regularly practice invasions of Israel via the Sinai. US aid to the Palestinians alone was 7.5 times per capita what you supplied to Haiti after their massive earthquake. The Palestinians receive more financial aid per capita than any people group on the planet but divert it towards terrorism and lining the pockets of their leaders. And you have the gall to accuse Israel of not wanting peace! Israel ceded Gaza for peace, in good faith, and got a hell on earth in return. Land for peace became 'territory for terrorism'. You say you are not a 'friend of Hamas'. I doubt this. What you certainly are NOT is a friend of Israel.

41. Palestine
Simon ,   Jerusalem   (04.29.11)
Israelis want Gaza by it self and West bank by it self, and, so no state. Nothing is wrong to have a rifle in one hand and "talking peace" by the other finger. Israeli like to talk peace and bulid settlements at the same time

44. #1 Holocaut Memorial Day
(04.29.11)
Re; depopulating Gaza...On the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day this is what you suggest? Send them away on cattle cars to gas chambers in the Negev?
45. Do they get any dumber than Haniyeh?
Umm El Kul Naqba   (04.29.11)
With the Arab World falling apart, Haniyeh picks the absolute best time to broadcast his position. Libya, Bahrain, Yemen, Egypt, Syria have too many problems of their own to give a damn about HAMAS. The other sheikdoms are watching the unrest in fear of when their time will come. Israel has been successful in taking out Mabhouh's successor and destroying several new smuggling efforts from Iran. Iran is having worm problems and other problems with their cabinet. HAMAS have enormous problems with their own rogue terrorist groups recently. The position of the Arab world and HAMAS could not be much worse and Haniyeh sets his own trap. All we need now is for a few rockets to fall in Israel and G-d forbid another child hurt or killed to set off the next Cast Iron. The Israeli Chamberlain (Olmert) is gone. Tzipi is for all practical purposes out of the way. Lieberman is strong. If we could only clean house and get rid of Barak permanently, we could finish the job. I fully agree with some of the other TB'ers that we have to finish the job in Gaza once and for all and will exactly as much compassion and mercy as HAMAS shows Israel.
46. fire with fire
mohson   (04.29.11)
Its time for israel to fight fire with fire. It can not be that israel constantly recognizes palestinian rights while fatah equivocates and hamas bluntly rejects israel's right to exist. Here is what should be done- and israel needs lieberman to do it because barak, bibi, peres are too weak to do it. Liberman should announce that israel's goal is to destroy hamas, that it has no right to exist-end of story and case closed. And haniyeh, zohar and musri should be targeted.
47. Ya' see, the BIG problem is,....

49. I think it is time for israelis to review thier tanach
ovadyah ,   Hales   (04.29.11)
this time in history is plainly outlined there .I believe organizations like Hamas is clearly spoken about . hamas claims to be indiginious to the land and have connections with esau and ismael. reviewing the tanach starting with the book of Ovadyah will show how G-d will deal with the desendants of esau. Y-NET I note you quite often decline posts that draw upon scripture for documentation. I submit that what God said in the Tanach is part and parcel of the current strugle and is therefore a valid part of this discussion.
50. Hamas to PLO: Rescind recognition of Israel
Spencer ,   Israel   (04.29.11)
Now the world knows the truth. Hopefully Barak HUSSEIN Obama does as well and will refrain from his anti-Israel remarks. These terrorists (I refer to Fatah and Hamas) don't want peace. Will Netanyahu and the rest of the Israeli government have the guts to break off all contacts with these two organisations and respond with everything at it's disposal at the first sign of ANY hostile actions against Israel, It's time to start openly with targeted killings again, In view of the open remarks bythese terrorists such killing will be legitimate acts of self defence.

justice for all ,   world/planet earth   (04.30.11)
this is an incitement to agression. this is pure hate-mongering and war-mongering. are you yourself as the first to go to war against gaza as an example?. not only easy words. action and deeds speaks much louder. then you will become a true hero. success. mazeltov.
52. to nr. 46.
justice for all ,   world/planet   (04.30.11)
did you ever realized why hamas came into existence in the 1980"s? if "israel"/the zionsts commits agression against the palestinians over and over again since the 19th century, the palestinians have the right to defend themselves and resist against the zionists. every people/country which is attacked /occupied,has the right to self-defence and the international community has to take measures to end such a crime.
53. Calling Obama! Where is your new peace plan.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (04.30.11)
Who will you present it to? If Abbas, then don't forget Hamas has to get a copy too.
54. #15 Abdel Karim
Yossef   (04.30.11)
I don't want to be too emphatic, but I swear that I'll always fight for the rights of Arabs (they may be christian or muslim, druze or beduin) who will want to live in peace with Jews in Israel, and will build together an even better Israel for both Arabs and Jews. I'll work at your side to help you improve your political/economical/human rights, until we get the same level of life, for us or our kids. I'm happy to read such words from an Aravi Yerushalmi. I know that it must not be easy for you Adbel Karim to write them down, I will do my part so you do not regret them.
55. #41: the 10 month freeze was a figment of our imagination!?
EZ ,   US   (04.30.11)
Your assessment of the situation is absurd as is your location: "Jerusalem, Palestine" since no such place exists, you too must be a figment if our imaginations which makes me happy: your words were so full if crap it would have been disheartening to think that they could come from a real "person" rather than nothing, which, thank heavens, is what u are and where u come from.
56. Illegal presence on "our" land??
Paul ,   Israel   (04.30.11)
To all talkbackers ( and others) who have bought into the Palestinian hoax that Israel was their land, I refer you to a book written by an American Journalist called Joan Peters, first commissioned and invited to study the Palestinian claims by Yasser Arafat when he was in "exile" in Lebanon. The name of the book is "From Time Immemorial". There, you will learn that about 75% of the so-called Palestinians who claim that they lived on this land for 2000 years, were barely second generation in this area circa 1947, and that most of them were SENT here by absentee landlords living in Turkey, Iraq and Saudi Arabia as indigent workers, to work their land for them, towards the end of the 19th century. 2000 years, my ass. And this shmuck, Haniya, has the gall to say that we stole "their" land...think again. This land never was "theirs" and historically there never was a collective identity called Palestinians until 1947-1948. Just analyzing the origins of some of their surnames will show that they came from all over - Egypt, Iraq, Libya, the Saudi peninsula, Turkey ( Ottoman Empire) etc. If they had lived here for 2000 years, you wouldn't have such a mix and match of names whose source is from all over. Come to terms with the fact that the only thing that really unites them is their hatred for Jews and their inability to fathom the fact that their "djimi" is the sovereign in the area, over Muslims.
57. # 28 I'ts Strange
Alex ,   USA   (04.30.11)
You live in NYC ? And you don't know what you are talking about.
58. More Pathetic Hamas Nonsense!
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (04.30.11)
What nonsense! Enough of the paranoid Palestinian/Iranian "zionist entity" BS and all the other infantile and ridiculous captions. They can save that for the unwashed masses who actually believe all that drivel. Israel isn't going anywhere and neither will the West's charitable handouts, until what passes for a Palestinian "government" complies with the EU's conditions for Palestinian recognition of Israel. The West expects the Palestinians to disappoint and they never fail to oblige and once again the Palestinians have succeeded in deceiving themselves into thinking that they are deceiving everyone else.
59. #10 - there isn't and wasn't a peace process!
michael redbourn ,   arad, israel   (04.30.11)
I wish there was a peace process but both Hamas and the PA want to destroy Israel. The only difference is the ways that Hamas and the PA want to do it. One want to use the political system and the other violence. Israel is very strong and not going anywhere. The terror attacks are like pricking an elephant with a pin. I'd love to see peace!
60. Legality? Since when does Hamas care about legality?
