It is unlikely that withdrawing the iDF from the present border positions will bring Peace with the Arabs who continue by their actions of teaching their people and children to hate and murder Jews. Eugene Rostow Under Secretary of state author of UN resolution 242 wrote in 1991 that Israel and Jews had a right to settle the West Bank, and that the British Mandate cannot be rescinded. He also said that Israel was not required to go back to the 67 borders.

If Obama indeed gives such a speech on Thursday, he will be confirming what I have long argued - that rather than an "honest broker", Obama is serving as the Palestinians' advocate. Except for the "recognition" issue, these are all Abbas' demands. Three days after this speech, Obama will be the keynote speaker at the AIPAC Conference. His last appearance there was in 2008, during the campaign, when he called for an undivided Jerusalem, then backtracked the *very next day*. Since he *is* the President, protocol requires a dignified welcome. But one has to wonder how these (mostly liberal) Jews will respond if these are indeed his new positions.

DUring the debate in the UN about this Res. 242 the Soviets had this to say: "The Soviet delegate wanted the inclusion of those words and said that their exclusion meant "that part of these territories can remain in Israeli hands." Clearly, Israel was to keep some of the land for security reasons.
