If i had 1 dollar for each time i heard that i would probably be a millioner!!! and he says netanyahu is to blame.... wash to dust away from your eyes!!!
62. Is this moron for real?
Maurice ,   Montreal   (05.18.11)
I read on Y-Net on the same page as this article that "Hamas insists: No talks with Israel"!!!! The same Hamas which now has united with Fatah. Is this Friedman idiot for real? Can't he see that the"palis" do NOT want any negotiations? Hellooo Mr. Friedman????
63. Israelis ignorance
dave heidenfeld ,   new mexico USA   (05.18.11)
Just for the record: Tom friedman is an AUTHORITY on the middle east especially in regard to Israel's "politics". Calling him names is not going to change that fact. And beyond that he's a true supporter of Israel but not the direction it's heading to..........
64. Let me clarify...
Thomas Friedman ,   New Chelm   (05.18.11)
Before launching my Israel bashing career I was a nobody from Chelm. Today I am treated as a super star of journalism and the favorite court Jew at NYT although I can hardly tell the difference between Hamas and a Manhattan espresso.
65. Self Hating Jew
Mordechai Abu Weiss ,   Maale Adumim, Israel   (05.18.11)
Tommy Boy - you haven't changed much from the days when you escaped the Lebanese Civil War to the safety of Israel. Remember playing cards with the boys from Mitzpe Nevo??? You were a pompous self-hating Jew in those days and it seems you've only become so much better at it over the years. In the mean time you have also become the Court Jester at the throne of B. Hussein Obama - quite the fitting position for you. But don't worry Tommy Boy - while you sit back in your armchair and attempt to dictate policy to people who actually have a life - a true Jewish life in Israel - don't you worry - when the tide turns against the Jews in the U.S. - and it will - we will be here -waiting - waiting for you to come Home.
66. Who is Tom Friedman?
TINSC ,   Anchorage, AK USA   (05.18.11)
Who is Tom Friedman and why should I care what he thinks?
67. #20
litvac120 ,   wellington   (05.18.11)
It's easy to give advise especially when you don't know anything about the subject. Your post was filled with chattering nonsense, non of it remotely connected to reality. Stick to Ireland, which certainly could use your advise better then Israel. As you warn Israel: "Egypt will ban all trade with Israel". It will hurt Egypt's economy more, and they can afford it less. Those countries that will impose trade sanctions have been doing it for years, and yet Israel's economy is thriving. Keep on dreaming, you must have had a bad year. litvac120
68. Friedman is right about Bibi stalling and wasting time
nytimes reader ,   usa   (05.18.11)
Bibi has less and less credibility when it comes to making peace with the Palestinians the longer he stalls. Of course, Abbas is just as guilty for wasting time and stalling. It is obvious BOTH sides do not want to risk concessions because their bottom line is politics, not peace.
69. Do Americans agree with Freedman?
Ken Brody ,   Pennsylvania, USA   (05.18.11)
No we don't. The large majority of Americans support Israel and decry Hezbollah. We follow the truth, not the lies.
70. #65: talk about "pompous"?---Sheesh!!
nytimes reader ,   usa   (05.18.11)
71. Why does he HATES Israel so much????????????????????????????
New Yorker   (05.18.11)
it doesn't matter what the subject is, he always bashes Israel and blames it for everything wrong in this world. he is a self hating Jew.
72. Friedman is 100 percent right
Norman ,   Minneapolis, Minneso   (05.18.11)
While saying he wanted to negotiate, Netanyahu did everything in his power to sabotage the talks and this is obvious to everyone except the most ethnocentric xenophobes in your country. I am Jewish too, but I realize that other people have needs, rights, agendas and national interests. Its getting harder and harder to defend Israel in the United States. If Israel loses US support, its in big trouble and it won't help the Jewish community here, either.
73. Norman #72 100% wrong
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (05.18.11)
We have done absolutely nothing to sabotage anything. The Arabs are the ones that have refused every offer, never offered or accepted a single concession. Nor have they fulfilled a single obligation - ever. What about our rights? Don't we have any? The Arabs have no legal claims to any of the land, that is a undisputable fact. Whereas we do have legal claim to all the land. So you think the Arabs have a right to steal our lands? Care to challenge any of those facts? Go ahead take any one or all of them.
74. Friedman Op-ed
zvi ,   Los Angeles USA   (05.19.11)
Thank goodness that Mr. Friedman is not running Israeli foreign policy!
75. Friedman's Arab Donors
Yaakov ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.19.11)
Friedman's career with the NYT started in the Middle East reporting from Beirut, Lebanon. He and his family cultivated many years of Arab culture and hospitality and shared the Arabs' overall view of the Israelis as aggressors. Then, encountering security strains of the ongoing civil war between the Muslims and Christians in Lebanon, he relocated to Jerusalem. How nice of him to change his residence for security reasons. You would think that, as a Jew, he would have preferred to have his family live in Jerusalem all along. That should tell you something about this man's perspective. I would not be surprised if he subscribes to the position that the Israelis are responsible for the problems in the Middle East.
76. Thomas Friedman > Netanyahu
Ze'evik ,   N.Monoson, Israel   (05.20.11)
Friedman is correct. Netanyahu is putting this wonderful country on the road to a non-Jewish non-democratic state.Pity.
77. "A lot of people believe in Netan...
elizabeth ,   USA, Athens, Ga.   (06.12.11)
And a lot of people who live in Israel don't like Netanyahu either. He's a bully and a sophist. Need I say more?
78. Ze'evik's comment re: Netanyahu
elizabeth ,   Athens, Ga.   (06.12.11)
Glad to see there are those who see through the current Israeli Govt. policies. Peace and security will never come if beligerance continues to be the code of the Likud and they stay in power.
