Rebecca ,   Modiin   (05.27.11)
They only include the 4 large "settlements". There are many many more. And they don't mention that property there is cheaper than in Israel mainland.
2. How much of the money "spent" on the "territories" ......
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (05.27.11)
was earmarked for the development of the neglected Galilee?
3. The Indians sold Manhattan for less.So I guess we're OK??!!

5. What a joke!
Chaim   (05.27.11)
As if anyone from Judea & Shomron would trust the government after the brutal expulsion of the 10,000 Jews from Gaza who were never compensated. No clear-thinking person would believe that this time would be any different.
6. It would make more sense
Chaim   (05.27.11)
to pay the Arabs living illegally on Jewish land in Judea & Samaria to go back to their own country they emigrated from - most of them from Jordan. And guess what? We'll finally have peace in Israel.
7. its easier to take the consequences of a "no-peace"-stance..
eporue ,   europe   (05.27.11)
what means, occassionally some clashes between armed settlers and unarmed palestinians, occassionally some clashes on checkpoints, occassionally some rockets at ashdod, in between sending some soldiers into gaza - ok, maybe not all come back... ITS ALL EASIER, than bringing some 100,000 settlers, which will respond with gross and utmost violence to IDF soldiers, out of the west bank - and back to israel... probably most of them cant be integrated into a normal society anymore... thats the true reason, why your government takes the consequences for their anti-peace-campaign: there will be MUCH more fatalities when the settlers are evacuated...
8. How much to evacuate all of Israel?
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (05.27.11)
But once we ''sell'' Judea & Samaria, I doubt if anyone will pay for the rest of Israel, the conflict will have intensified considerably & anyway, everyone will figure they can get the rest for free, they can just chase us out. So, $18 billion is the price for destroying our security. Look what happened to Gaza, that really worked out well, didn't it? So, let's do it on a larger & more dangerous scale, after all, if you make a really stupid blunder, what better than repeat it on a larger scale? I guess that makes sense to Leftists, they're experts at failed ideas.
9. The price is much more!
Lioness ,   Israel   (05.27.11)
You have to take into consideration the costs of all damaged buildings and casualties from rockets fired into Netanya, Kfar Saba, Ranaana, Hod HaSharon, Petach Tikva, Moodin, Jerusalem, Afula etc. As this will be the new reality if Israel left Judea & Samaria.
10. Better make a real estate appraisal for Central,

11. My House Alone Is Worth FAR More Than That
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (05.27.11)
And it isn't for sale at ANY price. Let the World bank or somneone else pay the Arabs to leave OUR land. We will not.
12. Chaim, finally you're coming to your senses?
Muayyad ,   Palestine   (05.27.11)
Nobody is on your side. Not even your fanatical right-leaning government of racists. You're left all alone, and September is far approaching! Either pacify your settlers and prepare them to obey a unified Palestinian Law, or face the wrath of the Palestinian State.
13. #10 is my unfinished TB. These MOST expensive
tanya ,   tel aviv israel   (05.27.11)
Real Estate areas were Arab villages before 1948.
14. Does this number take into account the the value of certain
j k ,   the rova   (05.27.11)
What about all the Mekomot Hakedoshim, like Maarat Hamachpelah, Kevr Rachel, and sites of historical importance like Kfar Etzion? Are their values weighed into this estimate?
15. NO to evacuation
Brod ,   USA   (05.27.11)
It is the Land of Israel. Why should Jews be evacuated from the Land of Israel? Jews should defend their Land of Israel from the dark forces-world of AntiSemites and Islamist-Jihadists trying to steal the Land of Israel from the Jewish Nation.
16. & how much of that was paid for by USA & Israeli taxpayers?
Chaim HZ ,   Israel/USA   (05.27.11)
People get off of your sanctimonious right wing stools and realize that you aren't the rightful receipients of that money. We the American and Israeli taxpayers who have been supporting your freeloading life styles are the recipients of that money. And boy were we a bunch of fools to pay it out in the first place!
17. Muayyad: September will come and go...
Tikva   (05.27.11)
And you still won't have a state in the land of Israel. We'll gladly help you pack your bags though.

zionist forever   (05.27.11)
The problem with the settlement project is what started out being about mixture of security and housing people became an addiction and succesive governments have thrown billions into it to satisfy the pro settlement camp whio just want to build for the sake of building. We have dozens of small issolated communities with a population of a couple of hundred. It cost a fortune to protect them because they are surrounded by enemies but we continue to build more of these small communities and at the same time neglect the rest of the country. The arabs think the Galilee belongs to them and the Bedouin believe the Negev belongs to them whislst the bulk of the Jewish population is squeezed into the coastal areas renting homes because property prices have become to high for the ordinary Israeli. The government should be investing less in small communities in Judea and Samaria and more in taking back the rest of the coutry. Bothe the Negev and Galileee have plenty of business oportunities, they can house plenty of Jews but they are being neglected. Time to stop making settlements a national obsession. Invest in the large settlements that have growing populations in the thousands but don't start building brand new communities unless its in Jerusalem. Zionism was supposed to be about developing the whole country not just a tiny area because of political ideology.
19. A BIG WORRY.$18.8B. NEARLY $20B.
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (05.27.11)
I sure hope that his isn't where the g-8 is intending to get the $20b. that they want to give to the Arabs. With the west bust and Obama in the evil Arab League's pocket,I wouldn't put it past them to try to treat Israel like the USSR used Poland. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
20. There is no Israel without Judea and Samaria.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.27.11)
A quick glance at a map provides indisputable proof that there would be no Israel without Judea and Samaria. That is why Abba Eban called the green line "the borders of Auschwitz". Israel is not viable with an 8 mile waist. There is no sane argument here. Judea and Samaria are all that makes Israel viable.
21. #18: Thank you zionist forever!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (05.27.11)
22. Chaim HZ
IZL   (05.27.11)
Tell you anything about the fact Begin's party is the longest political party to hold power? These guys make economy in the settlements. They serve in thr army. What you have written is not distortion. Rather it is outright lieing.
23. IT IS JEWISH NATIVE SOIL NOT SETTLEMENTS.
GLENN ,   YUCAIPA,USA   (05.27.11)
24. Does this price include the damage
Zev ,   Israel   (05.27.11)
when the missiles start falling on Tel Aviv and Gush Dan as the missiles fell on the South when we ran away from Gaza?
25.  NO WORRIES SETTLEMENTS STAY
Bless Israel ,   USA   (05.27.11)
THOSE WHO WANT TO MOVE MAY. THERE WILL BE NO PAL STATE.
26. Let's give money to get settlers out
Michael ,   California, USA   (05.27.11)
Israel was such a jewel, such a "bombonyera" before 1967. Wouldn't you want to go back to those times, when we didn't hate each other, when economic independence was "near," when we weren't isolated from 75% of the world, when Israeli mothers didn't fear their sons reaching 18th birthday? What have those settlements buy Israel, and at what price? Look now, Israel lives with education in ruins, its medical system near collapse, its Jewish identity fading fast and Apartheid recognized widely as its legacy. The 18.8 Billion is probably less than what it cost Israeli government to have those settlers go there and protect them over the years. This money has been a huge minus to Israel since 1967, money down the drain. Count me in, I will be donating money to get Yesha settlers out of there. Better still, kapara, let Israel leave them to PA or Jordan at no charge.
27. #7 - I wouldn't call "Palestinians" "unarmed"
William ,   Israel   (05.27.11)
"Palestinians" often attack with knives, rocks, and molotov cocktails. Settlers usually have only rocks, and may torch property (not a person). I would hardly call it an unbalanced fight. Sadly, your bias is so great you cannot see that 85% of the settlers have committed NO violence and many live at peace with their Arab neighbors, especially around Kalkilya. You should be ashamed at being so easily lead my media manipulation.
28. #12 - What's "unified Palestinian law"?
William ,   Israel   (05.27.11)
There isn't even a thing called "Palestine" so how can it be the source of a unified law? Honestly, A "Palestinian" State means nothing to us except an address for all so-called "refugees" to move to in the near future. Though you haven't been paying attention, many countries who claim to support a "Palestinian" State also support the continued existence of Israel and the 2-State solution ONLY through negotiations. That really kills the "Israel is isolated, let's destroy the Jews" goal of your's, doesn't it? I am amused that you call "right-wing leaders" racist when they are the people calling for negotiations while your side (and supporters) call for ethnic cleansing and destruction of a sovereign democracy. Hahaha - your actions ARE the very definition of racism. Hilarious.
29. #12. "Wrath of Palestinian state....". I'm shivering. NOT!
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.27.11)
#12. You say Israel should leave our ancestral heartland of Judea and Samaria or face the "wrath of the Palestinian state". You've got me shivering and quaking with fear. NOT! If the P.A. declares fictional statehood, it will be an even bigger fiasco than when it did so in 1988. When the smoke clears, "Palestine" will be universally seen as the joke it is.
30. #26 Michael. Judea and Samaria are part of Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.27.11)
#26. Michael, your rants never make any sense whatsoever. It is obvious, from a cursory glance at a map, that Israel could not exist without Judea and Samaria. That is why Abba Eban called the 1967 green line "the borders of Auschwitz". Why do you constantly post rubbish which would shame the intelligence of a gorilla?
