Moshe Mordechai ,   USA   (06.20.11)
For those of you who are American citizens, shame on you for being apologists for a convicted SPY. Anybody who passes unauthorized secrets to a foreign government (Maybe not to you, but to %99 of Americans Israel is a FOREIGN gov't; which wouldn't hesitate to sell U.S. technology to China for MONEY). Maybe you should all renounce U.S. citizenship and move to Israel since you are already defending a traitor!!
64. Why is the US expected to do more than Shimon Peres ?

65. Pollard's funeral
Joe Charlaff ,   Mevasseret Zion   (06.20.11)
I am filled with disgust at the heartless and appalling behaviour of the US in not allowing a person, no matter what his crime, to attend the funeral of a parent. This is officialdom gone crazy and is reminiscent of when the US Under Secretary for War under Roosevelt decided it was not cost efficient to divert US bombers to attack the concentration camps regardless of the human aspect. Is this what America has become! Obama hang your head in shame.
66. Pollard's "SIN": He Permitted Israel to Act in its Defense
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (06.20.11)
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=24659 September 26, 2001 Terror in the U.S. and the Jonathan Pollard case By Larry Dub © 2001 WorldNetDaily.com "... thanks to Jonathan Pollard, Israel was ready with gas masks and sealed rooms when Iraq attacked her during the Gulf War... The usual sentence for spying for an ally is 2-4 years... Indeed, the Government's own Victim Impact Statement (VIS), which was submitted to the court prior to sentencing indicated that Pollard's greatest "sin" was that by giving Israel vital security information which permitted the Jewish state to act in its own defense, he had made Israel "too strong" and thus angered America's "moderate" Arab allies..." worldnetdaily.com Free POLITICAL prisoner Pollard jailed for life for protecting Israel!
67. Of this I can only say one thing to Israel. LEARN.
USA   (06.21.11)
Learn from your best friend and ally how to not give in to "pressure". You can't pressure you friend and ally into allowing a convict to attend funeral of his father, how in this world are you going to allow the same friend and ally pressure you into surrendering half of your country to your enemies?
68. Pilate never bore arms against America.
USA   (06.21.11)
He passed sensitive info to a friendly country.
69. This reminds me of 1938 and 930 Jews seeking asylum in USA
USA   (06.21.11)
90 miles away from miami. They were told to go back to hitler by US government. That the Germanigration quata was full. And the aushwitz could not be bombed fir technical reasons.
70. Every American will tell Israel to mind it's own affairs
(06.21.11)
Why can't Israel tell the same to America?
71. Pollard did not betray America.
Tahl   (06.21.11)
There is absolutely no proof Pollard sold information to Russia, Pakistan, or whatever other country besides Israel. Even the Department of Justice admitted that. And most certainly, Pollard's espionage did not result in the death of American agents, as many Pollard-haters claim. That's why Pollard was found guilty of espionage, but not treason. All in all, Pollard's espionage did not cause great damage to the US, aside for the political cost of the Arab countries being angry at the US, for letting Israel become too strong. The US had to pacify the Arabs somehow, and Pollard was the one to pay the price. Pollard did not betray America, unless helping the security of a close ally is considered betrayal.
72. #2 Jews like you are true betrayors!
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (06.20.11)
Let me say this loud & clear. A Jew belongs to the Children of Israel, there the same thing. Israel is a family and a country / nation. If you are a true Jew there is absolutely no way you can be commiting treason through assisting Israel. As for the USA, whose motto is 'In God We Trust' Well, I've never seen or heard a bigger betrayal of what your proud nation stands for then not trusting in God, the same God that gave the land of Israel as the Jewish homeland. Shame on you!!!

75. All this, for Pollard?
george ,   USA   (06.20.11)
This American will remember our Israeli "allies" asking god to curse the U.S. and President Obama. As one commenter noted, you don't need the U.S. so please SEND OUR BILLIONS of $$ BACK. Our politicians are too spineless and afraid of being called anti-semites if they cut foreign aid to Israel. So, since we are so evil and anti-semetic and you don't need our help anyway, SEND THE MONEY BACK!
76. not a surprise but the common behavior
michel ,   france   (06.21.11)
Obama is doing exactly what most of antisemites do: taking pleasure in making the jew suffer with no reason, that`s all.
77. Moshe, your ignorance is showing
Lila ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.21.11)
Treason is giving aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war. Pollard was neither charged with treason or convicted of it, you ignoramus. A US Navy employee who spied for Saudi Arabia received a dishonorable discharge - no jail time. A man convicted two years ago of spying for China for years got 3 months in jail. Just because you don't want your dual loyalty questioned doesn't make you blind to the obvious Jew-hatred in the Pollard case.
78. To Sarah B #47
David ,   Jerusalem   (06.21.11)
I think you are incorrect. For offenders who committed their offenses before November 1, 1987, there is a parole procedure. Parole Commission applies the parole guidelines that are used for parole-eligible federal and military offenders.
79. Pollard's "sin"
Nofia ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.21.11)
was to give Israel information that the US had already promised it in diplomatic intelligence agreements. The United States was embarrassed. It had agreed to give the info to Israel but withheld it.
80. Pollard, Vanunu and Israel
Abraham ,   Israel   (06.21.11)
Is Israel playing double standards? How can they ask for mercy when Vanunu might as well be in jail.Vanunu got 18 years and has done the time but is not free because of heavy restrictive punishment he still faces. What has happened to Pollard is very sad but its Israel's shameful policy of using people to get information at any cost and then throwing those people to the dogs. Obama can't just do as he pleases and is no more anti-Semite then anyone else.True that Pollard received a sentence disproportionate to any other other American convicted of spying but even Clinton and Bush did not relent so you can call them anti-Semite as well ? People here have to change their attitudes and stop making unrealistic demands. Perhaps if Bibi had made some serious inroads with the Palestinians, the peace process and complied with Obama's requests things might have been different. But you can't throw mud in their faces and expect them to bow down to every request this country throws at it.
81. So clever, Jeremiah,
Patricio ,   Beer Sheba   (06.21.11)
but you should remove your tinted glasses to get a better perspective. While I agree that the US seems to be behaving more for the sake of vengeance than for anything else, Pollard was not this altruistic Zionist zealot so many make him out to be. Concern for Israel may have been part of his motive, but he was well paid. As for your whistle-blowing interpretation, well, that's a bit of a stretch. But he definitely shamed the US intelligence community, which came across particularly unsophisticated in its dealings with Pollard prior to his arrest. Now, show me a government NOT involved in Machiavellian double dealing.
82. To: David at No. 78
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.21.11)
'fraid not. There is no parole in the federal justice system. There is early release -- but there is no parole. The difference is that if someone convicted in the federal courts is released early, he does not have to report anywhere. Parole implies constant vigilance. I fear greatly that Jonathan Pollard will die in prison. And that would be a grievous injustice.
83. Not all of us are against his release
Robyn ,   USA   (05.31.15)
I am for it, and I'm a "young adult" aka a teenager! I want him to be released, I am OUTRAGED about the funeral, and it's 4 years ago, now it's 4 years later, and I'm scared that he's going to DIE in prison! Liberate Pollard NOW!
