31. #6, #9 and other geniuses
Chatich   (06.29.11)
You're being pedantic. As you very well know, what Gantz means is that poverty is not rampant in Gaza, he's not saying that every last resident is living a life of luxury. And he's absolutely right. Compared to Syria, "Jordan", Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc, etc, there is very little poverty or starvation in gaza. In fact, there is only one nation in the middle east in which Arabs enjoy a better standard of living than the disputed territories. Can you guess which one? That's right, it's "the Zionist entity - "the little satan", a.k.a. Israel. Seems us Jews are really, really bad at this whole genocide thing.

33. Bin laden finally comes good
Harvey ,   London   (06.29.11)
Bin laden sure drifted a long way in order to foul up the propellor.
34. LOL!
Steve ,   USA   (06.29.11)
I guess the UN General Assembly will pass a resolution condemning Israel for this. Even if it is self inflicted damage. I've bent my prop numerous times on rocks while fishing shallow water. It happens. That's why fisherman carry spare props. Looks like they may have sustained this 'dent' from choppy water while in port. The boat may have bottomed out onto a sharp rock or perhaps some debris directly below it as it bobbed up and down. If the ship was 'over loaded' (with who knows what) that scenario is an obvious outcome. But as usual it is much more convenient to blame the Jews, again. The only way this could have been sabotage would be if the vessel was in dry dock. No way this could be done from underwater. You'd have no leverage to bend that.
35. Prove it or shut it
Naor ,   USA   (06.29.11)
36. Captain speech baseless, childish and biased
Marcelo ,   World   (06.29.11)
Next time insurance company charges this capatain for insurance fee, he will possibly use same baseless speech to reduce insurance fee. The world became so immoral that this speech became politicized, and turned into a controversy, The bottomline is, Hamas is governed by a terorist group, therefore, navla blocade is needed , still, goods can be delivered through Ashdod, after being inspected. It is a reality arabs living in Gaza shoot missiles against israeli children intended to kill. This is the real and proven truth.
37. #9 Leon SHAKES his mrables. Again.
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (06.29.11)
Which is the SAME as saying "Leon shakes his HEAD. Again" Whether a group of people faces a REAL humanitarian crisis is NOT based on EVERYONE having a fancy car and a flat screen tv. Cos the last I check, these items are NOT essentials. In any case, if Leon's yardstick is TRUE, then EVERY group of people in this world IS having a humanitarian CRISIS. FACT-free info - that's just Leon's MARBLES talking.
38. @ 27 Israel losing the war?
J Kicks ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.29.11)
Please explain to me how Israel is losing the war? I agree there is poverty in Gaza but why should Israel care? IDF refuse to acknowledge this? That's why Israel has been supplying Gaza with fresh water and electricity, even though the right winged government wants the Jewish government to fall? So what are they refusing to do? Allow unlimited supply of weapons to militants because the world thinks peace will be achieved by swapping some land?
39. whodunnit? the confounded Jooz!
Dutch Boy   (06.29.11)
it's the kosher food that allows them to do these mysterious things, we must prohibit shechita...
40. Fake. Real saboteurs would do more damage in less time
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (06.29.11)
Zero proof offered that "IDF divers" were anywhere near their boat, damage looks like they hit rocks or did it themselves. A trained saboteur would have used a burning bar, in 10 seconds or less, to melt the prop shaft into the stuffing box bearing, ruining the propulsion system and requiring complete rebuild and stuffing box replacement, weeks in dry dock - more than "a few days". Easier still to just drill a 25mm hole in the fiberglass hull and sink the boat. How convenient that the claimed "sabotage" can be repaired so quickly with parts that just happen to be available on Pireaus that they won't miss their sailing date. Its an obvious hoax. Besides, everybody knows that the Mossad requires at least 36 people with fake mustaches and Brit passports to carry out any mission, so where's all the surveillance videos?
41. from Greece, Sweden, and Norway.Crusaders +Jihadists against
Israel. old history!   (06.29.11)
the same old history. This time the Crusaders are dishonest cowards who don't want to show they are coming against Israel becuase of their 2000 years of religious hatred toward Jews. But Islamists are at least honest about their reason for this attack on Jews. I like honest Jihadists more than these lieying crusaders.
42. Syrian refugees in Turkey are suffering with no food .
send flotilla there   (06.29.11)
43. These cowards dont' dare to send flotilla to Syria or Libya!
(06.29.11)
44. Israel damaged the ship?
Golani ,   Vineland/USA/Israel   (06.29.11)
I certainly hope so. The terrorist entity in Gaza is an illegal entity and pirate ships should be damaged and prevented from reaching the shores of the terrorist entity.
45. Coincidence :^P
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.29.11)
46. They damaged the ship themselves
Israeli 2   (06.29.11)
because they are afraid of thereal consequences. They are C O W A R D S! At least that traitor is smart.
47. @6 - Ben Alofs reasoning
Shaul R   (06.29.11)
So, by your logic, the flotillas should be going to all the places where there is poverty. Why Gaza then? There are places with far worse poverty that get much less foreign than Gaza. In fact, the flotilla organizers claimed that there is a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which is a lie. What was it you said about stupidity? Practice what you preach.
48. Damage to prop shaft
Shaul R ,   Portland, USA   (06.29.11)
I have been around boats all my life and seen my share of damaged prop shafts. The damage shown on video makes no sense. There appears to be a dent made by very heavy impact by a regular shaped object and a slight bend to the shaft. It is highly unlikely that such deep dent in stainless steel shaft could have been made by anything that SCUBA divers can easily deploy. I doubt that any submersible vehicle could have been employed inside a confined and shallow marina. Furthermore, there is a clearly defined area where paint has been completely stripped around the dent and it is completely unclear what may have caused this. It appears to be done on purpose, but I do not see any reason why the paint needed to be stripped in order to bend the shaft through impact. It is also unclear how the paint could have been stripped in this way as a result of such impact. Finally, the story about the discovery of prop damage sounds a bit suspicious. It is true that the engine will quit if the shaft is bent, but they need to be engaged in gear. Unless I missed something in the translation, you just don't run engines in gear while tied in a marina. There are much easier ways to render a boat unseaworthy, including damaging the prop shaft, without resulting to such apparently illogical and cumbersome means.
49. I confess! I did it. I swam from NY in the night.
Robert ,   NY USA   (06.29.11)
Not only a reptile, but I can also turn into a fish. And I do bar mitzvahs and weddings!
50. getting boring.....
Omar ,   Ramallah   (06.29.11)
If israeli govt lets these ships into gaza....i bet no one will ever organize another "gaza flotilla" and the subject would be closed.
51. #2 you are mistaken
Golan ,   modiin   (06.29.11)
He was a Jew (with an Arab father and a communist Jewih mother) who dedicated his life to attack and sabotage Israel and supported mass murdering Arab terrorists. He was killed by Balestinians while committed to the Balestinian cause, terror and all.
52. #29, to the far away from Gaza
Ameridane ,   Aarhus, Denmark   (06.29.11)
I beg you pardon, but Gazans used to WORK in Israel and made a lousy livings similar to the Poles, Lithuanians and other people which are exploited by the British, Now if these poor foreigners would engage in terror acts, wouldn't you also curtail their activities ? I mean you got Pakistanis home-grown doctors that tried to blow up an airport.- It is the Gazans that have to thank themselves for the embargo
53. please Israel, Dror felier's citizenship get back and give
non-jew ,   greece   (06.29.11)
it to me... because they hate israel and I love israel too much and I want to fight against israel enemies....
54. Poor seamanship
Rolly ,   Tampa, U.S.   (06.29.11)
That propeller shaft damage is the result of poor seamanship, plain and simple. Besides, I cannot imagine why the IDF would go after a small cabin cruiser, as opposed to one of the larger ships.
55. Hey Leon (Canada) and Ben (Wales):
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (06.29.11)
Could the poverty in Gaza which you two speak of have something to do with the well-known corruption, the diversion of funds, quite typical of Arabs in North Africa and the Mideast? Just wondering. I certainly like to see you both make a decent analysis, at least if you're capable.
56. proof!
David ,   America   (06.29.11)
I have proof that Israel did not do this! The boat still floats! If Israel had done it it would be at the bottom of the sea!
57. #6 Ben Aloof
Cynthia ,   USA   (06.29.11)
Unemployment and poverty is created and sustained by Hamas leadership, not Israel. The Gaza unemployment rate escalated beginning with the first intifada. Prior to this, over 100,000 Palestinians were employed in Israel. Under Sharia law, women do not work. Therefore, 50% of the population does not work or bring income to the family. Nothing to do with Israel. Gaza families average 5-6 children. Electing to raise a large family is expensive. Particularly when you're unemployed and you complain about a food and water shortage. This is not Israel's responsibility. The Hamas government refuses economic cooperation with Israel. This cooperation could improve living conditions for the Palestinians. Bad choice on part of Hamas. The workforce in Gaza consists primarily of unskilled workers. This limits job opportunities. Palestinian leadership has failed to create a viable, skilled workforce. The use of terror and instability created by Hamas has chased away business investors. When the Jews left Gaza in 2005, the Palestinians lost 5000 jobs. There is a middle and upper class in Gaza. What are they doing to build a future for Gazans? And Ben, where does all the money come from for weapons smuggling and terror? This money could be used for more productive, community based purposes. Would you agree?
58. 6#Ben isaloof
james ,   uk/il   (06.29.11)
The fact id is benny that Gaza has the lowest infant death rate compared to Egypt Syria doesnt that say something. You should take you sats and show them to hamas the ones that destroyed the hot houses in gaza, show me some pics of emancipated people show me the pics of markets empty of food...60 70 % dont be fooled.
59. No poverty in Gaza
Niss ,   UK   (06.29.11)
Media and people who say that there is poverty in Gaza should be challanged & asked if they saw the poverty in Gaza by going there without Hamas tour guide and saw it themselves or they listne to pro Gazans lies and jump on the anti Israel band wagon
60. I confess
Yocheved Bar-Giborah   (06.29.11)
Forgive me father for I have sinned. I swam from Israel to Greece and bent the propeller with my hands. I feel so bad about what I did. I'm sorry.
