Many small and insignificant countries try to advise and put pressure on bigger ones, although the biggest thing they can do is impose sanctions and hurt themselves, or vote for a non-binding resolution in the UN. In this case, Ireland is simply following its foreign policy interests. Not true at all. Ireland is officially neutral. It is not a member of NATO, so no US intervention. The EU will only help it if there is an attack on its sovereignty, but if Ireland sends its puny military to protect the flotilla, and if it attempts to forcibly stop an IDF interception, its unlikely that the EU go to war with a militarily powerful and nuclear-armed state with the military and political backing of the USA after the Irish get slaughtered.
