2. Heros !!!!
Hertzel ,   Tveria   (07.15.11)
WHEN WILL THE IDF BECOME A TRUELY MODERN ARMY? WHEN? IT IS NOT ONLY ABOUT TANKS AND PLANES, IT IS FIRST AND FOREMOST ABOUT THE PERSON, THE MAN AND WOMEN ON THE GROUND. OLD UNIFORMS, OLD BOOTS, LACK OF TRAINING... YOU NAME IT...
3. Entirely the IDF's fault, both soldiers and officers performe
ab   (07.15.11)
badly. Soldiers refusing to follow orders to attack and unable to use rocket propelled grenades issued to them, ideal in the house to house combat.Officers accepting soldiers' disobedience and leading them to battle more concerned about Leb "civilians" than own casualties. Geeneral unpreparadness, soldiers without maps and without water or spare socks. Disaster
4. When leftist decision makers rule, this vulnerability occurs
Yair ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (07.15.11)
between amir peretz, former defense minister looking backwards thru binoculars (famous pic), to beugoise Barak's withdrawal from anything and everything, to shimon peres psycho bable about peace partners (when we learned yesterday that major polling revealed 73% of Palestinians support Hamas' hadith for Muslims to kill all the Jews). With leadership like this it is no wonder the necessary military orders were not given. If you cant stand the heat get out of the kitchen. That, and Roi Klein is a hero of heros, as are the others who fought for their brothers. Chin up, eyes forward. Am Yisrael Chai. 6 million urge us past our troubles....
5. I AM NOT SURPRISED
LAWRENCE ,   Zefat (Safed)   (07.15.11)
What person can go through that hell and remain unaffected ? And it does not require a psychiatrist not a genius to diagnose depression and stress. And it is not wise to underestimate Hizballah fighters.
6. MERELY READING ABOUT THE
LAWRENCE ,   Zefat (Safed)   (07.15.11)
Horrible battle in Bint Jbeil is enough to give one nightmares.
7. Don't think about entering Lebanon after the 2006 war
christianpalestinian ,   hong kong   (07.15.11)
The arab resistance in Lebanon is creative and ferocious and they will hold their ground against any invader.
8. its official
JL   (07.15.11)
i was in the chinese farm battle of 1973....and other wars...todays soldiers are candy asses plain and simple
9. Bint Jbail?
juan solana ,   san diego, USA   (07.15.11)
This is clear to me... this bill will be footed by the American tax payer. And dont understand how the hizbollah fighters were the terrorists, to my understanding the israeli soldiers were terrorizing the lebanese inside Lebanon.
10. WHY???
Ahron ,   USA   (07.15.11)
I wonder (out of sheer curiosity), do Hezbollah fighters and other Pali fighters also suffer from PTSD? Or is it only Israeli and American fighters??? If so, then why? If not, then maybe PTSD is a symptom of all war, and maybe it's a sign that our beloved IDF needs to become more modernized?
11. slow news day
Ari ,   Kfar Saba, Israel   (07.15.11)
Must have been a slow news days at Ynet. Incidentally, everytime we show the enemy weakness by depicting crying episodes by grown men, either through photos, news articles or movies, it emboldens them. This is the IDF of the Six Day War, of Entebbe, of Mishmar Ha'emek, of the Shayetet raid on the KarinA. Not a bunch of sissies who cry all day and get in touch with their feminine side. Enough with these stupid "news" articles that provide fodder for the enemy. Suggestion, every time you get an urge to show crying soldiers, show instead the iconic photo of the 3 paras by the Kotel after the liberation, or the raising of the flag at Eilat during 48, or perhaps of a photo of a grinning Kahalani, his face blackened with cordite, after he gave the Syrians a trouncing in the Valley of Tears.
12. agree w/ number 8
Ari ,   Kfar Saba, Israel   (07.15.11)
@ number 8. I agree with you 100% but the media (Ynet included) exacerbates the situation by reporting this nonsense. I'm sick of the media focusing on one or two wussies that blacken the true, heroic IDF and the toughness of her soldiers. During Chinese Farm, our boys attacked a well-entrenched enemy that outnumbered us by a factor of 3 to 1 and the IDF still kicked ass and sent those Egyptians scurrying. We need to reinforce the true image of our army not sully the image by reporting on the rantings of some panzies.
13. Our soldiers
michael Pielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (07.15.11)
G-d bless our soldiers. Without our fighters Israel, there is no Jewish state.
14. New Rand Report on Lebanon 2
Stephen in New York   (07.15.11)
Available as a free PDF download or for $26 hardcopy: “Air Operations in Israel’s War Against Hezbollah. The 350-page report has a lot to say about the ground operation, such as it was (I refer to higher command, not the fighters on the ground).
15. #11 WELL SAID ,THANK YOU
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (07.15.11)
YNET would wish to portray the IDF as a sorry bunch ,which is not the case.
16. #9 WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW?
LAWRENCE ,   Zefat (Safed)   (07.15.11)
Mr .San Diego USA
17. WAIT UNTIL YOU FACE A REAL ARMY
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (07.15.11)
18. #9,#1,#7
daze ,   US   (07.15.11)
American taxpayers don't foot any of Israel's bills. Aid goes to the US defense industry, that keeps your uncle gomez employed. The bill that the American taxpayer has to foot is for all the mexicans that sneak across the border and suck the system dry with their freeloading. #2, senor ramallah, invest in a good pair of sneakers, cause if you guys pick a fight they will come in real handy. To #7, nothing, just stay in Hong Kong
19. P.S. Don't u ever try to enter Lebanon again.
John ,   Al Quds   (07.15.11)
20. @7, 9 and 10
joe ,   st louis usa   (07.15.11)
@7 Israelis do not speak that way, they talk about protecting their people, but they do not take joy in the pain of others. To the contrary it kills them. Do you really take joy in causing pain? @9 No, US foreign aid is spent on US made products: usually military hardware or technology. So all the money goes right back to US factories and American workers. Israeli psychologists are paid for by Israeli taxpayers. By the way, all US foreign aid to the whole world is less than 1% of the total US budget and it goes directly to creating American jobs. @10 Yes, everyone suffers from PTSD when exposed to appropriate circumstances, just like everyone bleeds when they get shot. There are two types of PTSD victims: those who live in denial, and those who deal with it. It has nothing to do with strength or weakness, it is merely an injury to the mind. I find Israel's attention to the health, safety and injuries of its soldiers to be a sign of strength.
21. #7, didnt do a terribly good job in 2006

22. SIMPLY IDF LOST THE WAR
RAMALLAH ,   RAMALLAH   (07.15.11)
LIVE WITH THE FACT , THEY ARE SISSY'S NOT TRUE FIGHTERS.
23. To 7 &19: Its was a victory.
HANSJE   (07.15.11)
You forgot that Israel penatraded deep in Lebanon in 2006 and stayed there for 3 months, destroying the hezbollah bunkers, unhindered by the hezzies. Some 1/3 of hezzy's army were killed. After finishing the job Israel departed from Lebanon. These are facts. In every war there are casualities, even on the victor's side. Don't count how many tanks are touched or destroyed: 5 were destroyed, so the other 495 tanks passed through and conquered. If Hezzie would like to count a tank as a victory, then their "victory - bar" is very, very low. If we hadn't such a bunch of silly leaders (Schmolmert, Tsipi, Perets and Haluts) the victory would have been much greater. Since 2006 the border is peacefully. Hezzy got their lesson. AI hope there will be no more war, but if it happens, those mistakes will not be repeated any more. New weapons and tactics will show their proof.
24. A question about PTSD?
Essie haKohane ,   Florida, USA   (07.15.11)
I know that this may seem like a dumb question. Does PTSD only affect soldiers who fight on the side of civilized countries? I read alot about WWII, Vietnam, Israeli vets having PTSD. Do terrorists such as Hizbollah, afghani guerrilas, German Vets ever suffer from this? Or do they not suffer because they were taught about the cheapness of human life?

Xenius   (07.15.11)
wow, what a threatening statement. we all are so afraid of you. )) what will happen? do you think, the elephant nasrallah will be able to crawl out of his bunker?
26. I am disappointed
Patrick   (07.15.11)
They are golani ! but what about the death camp survivors who fought to create Israel, did they suffer Post Traumatic Syndrom. The fact is that they fought as lions, Kol Hakavod!
27. It wont go away
Elizabeth ,   Sippy Downs   (07.16.11)
My brother left Israel after the first Lebanon war, we thought a change will do him good. Post traumatic stress disorder does not go away, it is there for life. Pity Israel does not give help to these older soldiers.
28. To #1 in Ramallah
John ,   Alaska   (07.16.11)
Like many people who live there, and like all of your leadership, you are small-minded, hard-hearted and mean-spirited. Nevertheless, we still won't rejoice when G-d (The REAL one, the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) gives you the trouble your mean-spiritedness deserves. And we will have no pleasure in the death of the wicked person that your post reveals you to be.
29. To #7 G-d Most High is with the Jews
John ,   Alaska   (07.16.11)
There are many Old Testament prophecies to this effect concerning the Jews. In Matthew 5:18, Jesus says: "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Luke 21:24 says "And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." The first part of this prophecy was fulfilled in AD 70, the second part in 1967. The return of the Jews to Jerusalem was prophesied by Christ and we were waiting for it from His time until His word was fulfilled. In His Olivet Discourse, Jesus says "Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer [is] nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, [even] at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." The fig tree is Israel (Jeremiah 24:5-6), returned to their land by God Himself, never again to be rooted up. Before all of the people who were alive when this happens dies out, Christ will return. Christian Palestinian, I want to ask you a question. I'm asking respectfully and I wouldn't write all this if I didn't care. Since the return of the Jews to Israel and the restoration of Jerusalem to the Jews is what Jesus told you to look for and the Jews fulfilled His prophesy, why be so set against Israel? Why not rejoice at His word being fulfilled and look for His soon appearing?
30. To #24 intelligent question
John ,   Alaska   (07.16.11)
Essie, That was not a dumb question at all. I don't know the answer; the sites I have seen only speak of terrorists as causing PTSD. It stands to reason that the training that would harden one to PTSD would also damage the human psyche. Such people might be made callous, able to shoot to death a pregnant woman or slit the throat of a baby in her sleep. But a person like that would need to have something missing or killed in their soul.
