1. Let's a bit be more serious
Thomas ,   USA   (07.26.11)
While the present time is for solemn mourning and ruffling feathers is not appropriate, nevertheless our mind still keeps ruminating over these issues. What happened was foretold by S. Huntington in "The Clash of Civilizations" and this tragedy is only the first bloody encounter between the Cultural Marxist (Leftist) - Islamist alliance and the European Nationalists wanting to preserve their traditional way of life. These two groups are driven by unstoppable internal dynamics and no pious, John Lennon type dream will bring peace. The Leftists will double their effort to destroy Israel or the Nation-States and those whose life is threatened will resist and the war will go on until one side wins. This article is very nice, soothing penmanship but disconnected from the real life. How to confront and defeat "fundamentalism"? - what's that word implies? People love to fling slogans, words and labels into the air without explaining what they mean by using those words. Believe or not we're at war.
2. It's all over the internet that he was a Darwinian
Devorah   (07.26.11)
3. Daniel the author
David ,   America   (07.26.11)
I know you feed your family and your face by writing this trife, but at least have the common decency to get the facts before you shoot your mouth off. This man was no Christian. He denied Jesus Christ. So for the record, you are nothing but a money grubbing journalist who will print anything that makes a buck. Also for the record, I am no Christian either.
4. shame on this man
fad egypt   (07.26.11)
he doesnt know what is the meaning of christianity or the teaching of the bible which based on the judiasm but i wanna say two important points first if the victims were muslims i am sure that the world would stand on one leg and it would be a disaster to the west but in the victims rent muslims so no problem because the muslim world doesnt care about any one except the muslims the second point this man is nazi the muslims are the supporters of the nazi and hetler against the jews they always praise hetler for what he did against the jews but now the magic turned against the magican and the nazis turned against the muslims !!!!!! anyway shame on the nazi and on this man shalom
5. initial assumptions
Harry ,   Jerusalem   (07.26.11)
I hear barking, I assume it is a dog barking. The source of the barking is established and I find out it is a man barking. Why did I assume it was a dog barking, because, dogs bark. So why shouldn't the media rush to blatantly assume an Islamic role in this tragedy, YES!! much of the world accepts that Islamic terrorism remains the primary source of violence against western liberalism, equality and democracy.
6. Nisman and Yesawich do Judaism a disservice.
Steve   (07.26.11)
These two reservists conclude with: "Whether of Muslim, Jewish or Christian origin, we must be relentless in our quest to defeat this detestable form of fundamentalism wherever we encounter it. It is the sworn enemy of humanity, equality and decency." Nisman and Yesawich assume the fundamentals of Judaism involve the mass-slaughter on "non-believers." These two infer this is what Moses taught devout Jews; slaughter innocents without mercy. No Daniel. No Avi. Moses did not teach this. Nor did Jesus teach this sort of violence, notwithstanding there were Christians in the distant past who did commit gratuitous violence. Unlike Islam, Christianity underwent reform.
7. Seriously?
Seriously! ,   Canada   (07.26.11)
So basically you area advocating that one extremist so-called Christian who apparently wanted hookers a few days before his massacre rampage is a fundamentalist. I think you need your head examined. No fundamentalist would ever go out and kill the way this guy did, get hookers, etc.. Quit this liberal media blitz in spreading your hatred of all things not liberal. You should mention liberalism as the fourth religion as that is exactly what it is and most news sources continue to spread hatred by such antics and poor reporting as seen in this article again.
8. I agree with some core values of Islam.
Israeli 2   (07.26.11)
Not with that of debasing women and treating them as objects and not with the massacre of innocent people, but with having anti liberal values. If only they realize that the religious El Jahud is on their side, we can together both eliminate the liberal meshuganes throughout the world.
9. An excellent analysis!
David M.   (07.26.11)
One fanatic uniformly condemned by those Christians he was supposedly defending and support or silence the Islamist terrorists receive by the majority of Muslims make a big difference.
10. core liberal beliefs ??
Galutia ,   Selah   (07.26.11)
Quote :"In the face of such extreme violence, Western nations must reaffirm their core liberal beliefs and continue to combat all forms of extremism." ==== core liberal beliefs ... which ones... liberal tends to say there is a rudder with the consistancy of jello guiding the ship....the bibilcal prophet jeremiah would say ....that is nice ....but the lord your G-d has a better plan ... ships without solid rudders tend to flonder into dangerious waters.... this fellow in norway in no way repesents scriptural christianity...a faith deeply rooted in judism.
11. Just amazing!
GUH   (07.26.11)
An attack by anti-Muslim, and the ones still blamed, accused, brought to the spotlight, maligned are Muslims. You people are cooking things...
12. what happened in norway was bound to happen .the west can''t
rachel ,   usa   (07.26.11)
take anymore of Islam and eventually someone will retaliate .
13. Bravo
Oniel ,   London UK   (07.26.11)
Great article. Nice to finally read something on Ynet which was not written by a blinded leftist thug
14. Excuse me ! You say attacks carried..
DT ,   TA Israel   (07.26.11)
out by "Christian". Where does it say in the Bible that "Christians should slaughter, behead , kill "? Get your facts right and stop writing such an utter lie.
15. Jewish?
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.26.11)
What an insult. Since when did Jewish "fundamentalism" (if there is such a thing) lead to mass murder? Lumping Jews with terrorists is absurd and undermines the thesis for this article.
16. what?
(07.26.11)
if it is religouse cristian killed cristians if it is political extrem right killed liberals if it is nationality narwigian killed narwegians as iam a moslem i did not found only the hate of someone of people and kill others it is a crime complicated crime confused man kill for something in his heart to be famouse otherwize he must killhimselfe honestly i prefer killimg is the punishment it would be a lesson not to jihadist but to those like the life and kill for the life and famouse role in life .. it is a crime whatever is the motivation
17. Actually there is such an article
Jon ,   Baltimore US   (07.26.11)
The Jersualem Post ran an opinion piece that supported the motiviation behind the act but not the act itself.
18. So
Eli   (07.26.11)
this guy was more anti-muslim than pro christian, very well, why don't we hear the same about alqaeda being anti-christian more than pro-muslim? One could argue alqaeda has killed more muslims than non-muslims. What's going on here?
19. only losers in this drama
tiki ,   belgium   (07.26.11)
There are many guilty parties in this tragedy: First & foremost the gunman Breivic, second: the Norvegian FM vanning the flames and lecturing Norvegian youth boycotting 'another independed country, third: help which came to late and to slow, fourth: the spindokters and last but not least.......the Media, where most of them don't deserve the title journalist, but lazy copycats who spinn 'the news like they see fit, without checking their facts!
20. 3000 innocent die in New York
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome-Italy   (07.26.11)
...so that in maths makes 2930 people less than Islamic terrorist...that s the most barbaric killing in Islamic present days....so let s see how barbaric is killing 90 people!!!!there are 2930 people screaming out there for rustiche, not for another mosque...
21. #17 Jon says an OPINION is also a FACT - Laughable !
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (07.26.11)
Of course, this is the SAME Jon who has LOTS of opinion that perpectually BLAMES Israel and Israel only. In that TINY nutshell of between the ears, he HALLUCINATES that such opinions are also FACTS.
22. Fire this reporter
The Man ,   The World   (07.26.11)
The worst contrived garbage I have yet to have read on YNet. This reporter needs an education in nearly all the facets he is reporting on rather than informing us with misinformation. Do some research on Christian fundamentalism before you make ties with what happened in Norway. Sick of Liberal reporting; never any truth just a lot of emotional tripe.
23. He was no Christian.
Jo   (07.26.11)
I remember reading the the most murders in the world were committed in the name of atheism. Thinking of those millions killed in Russia, China, in Africa over money and power, and by Hitler, an atheist. Your stereotypes in naming just religious people is a bit shallow. People should be taken as they are by their character, read his manifesto, no christian at all, no religious person at all. He believed in himself, egoist I would say.
24. Exporting Islamic terror to the Niger Delta?
Simon Ordever ,   Lagos, Nigeria   (07.26.11)
How do you expect us to buy in to any of this, if some of your basic facts are wrong. The Niger Delta is in the predominantly Christian South, a rebellion based on the unfair share out of oil and gas revenues. I assume you meant Boko Haram, the fundamentalist Muslim terror group. based and attacking the Muslim north, insisting on the total implementation of Sharia law. GET IT RIGHT!
25. someone added Conservative Christian to his facebook page AF
dawn ,   israel   (07.26.11)
This murderer does not fit the christian stereotype. Hookers, vampire shows, trans music, violent computer games.Something is fishy with this story. You can still find his "original Facebook page" out there. Notice that the changes were made to his profile AFTER the event took place.
26. Anders Breivik is not a christian...
seadog1946 ,   Erie Basin, NYC   (07.26.11)
Oh, there may be a form of fundamentalism involved but I think that maybe his formative years were not laced with bible stories/myths/fables but with berserker sagas/poems. The authors of this article are levantines , they know nothing of northern european culture/history.
27.  religious fundamentalism
Avi ,   Israel   (07.26.11)
nationalism mixed with religious fundamentalism remains the primary source of bigotry, hatred and racism in the modern era, certainly here in Israel.
28. 15 Reuven
Happy   (07.26.11)
Don't you remember Goldberg shooting in the mosque?
29. The past is prologue!
John Prophet   (07.26.11)
Before WWII, Hitler met with Chamberlin . Chamberlin returned to England with a peace treaty held high and spoke the now infamous words, " Peace in our time". Hitler returned to Germany met with his General and said, "I've met the enemy and they are worms. We all know what happened next, millions died in WWII. Today, radical Islam is morphing the Middle East into an Islamic Caliphate with Israel smack in the middle. Should a state call Palestine be formed with East Jerusalem as its capital the "Sword of Islam"will be placed at the heart of Israel. The new State of "Palestine" will surly follow the fates of Lebanon and Gaza. Those who say "two States for two people's living side by side in peace" are simply Chamberlin all over again!
30. Links to Christianity
Authors ,   Tel Aviv   (07.26.11)
We are not saying this man represents Christianity in any way, just as Islamic extremists dont represent Islam. That being said, he identified and advocated with the conservative Christian Right in Europe, just as Muslim Extremists identify themselves with Islam. An important point in our peice is that All real Christians want nothing to do with this person, and unfortunately we can't say the same about many Muslims who refuse to condemn their extremism. We will be happy to recieve further comments at avianddanieloped@gmail.com
