61. # 8 Do your homework!!!!
mba ,   Israel   (07.31.11)
The present gov't taxes at a rate of 45%- not enough? Where does this money go? Corporate taxes are 20 % if any! Practically no tax on rental income. Universities already have satellite facilities from the north to the south. They are no cheaper than the universities themselves and the rental prices are somewhat cheaper than the central region but the salaries are also much less. And by the way, IT'S OUR REVOLUTION
62. terry in eilat
gdfathermax ,   tel aviv israel   (07.31.11)
your blogs are 100% correct. this agitation is primarily from the left. Where is it said that people have a gd given right to live in tel aviv. Students could rent outside tel aviv and commute. Socialism doesn't work. Look at europe and the usa. All in economic trouble today because of their policies, Ok the government can do certain things to improve the situation. It is true that disposable income is too low. It is also true that the super rich get away with murder. This is wrong. Can't pay your bonds lose your assets. Food made in israel should be cheaper than that exported. Land should be released from the government stockpile etc etc. But revolution ? forget it.
63. # 11 Lift your head
MBA ,   Israel   (07.31.11)
Oh, you're the guy who can see the forest because of the trees.
64. Terry - Too Hot
mba ,   Israel   (07.31.11)
Hey man, you need to get out of that Eilat sun. Post your address and I'll send you one of those hats with a propeller, not perfect but might help. or maybe, take a day off and travel to Tel Aviv and talk with some of the tent city dwellers. Open up a little bit for other views.
65. # 54
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (07.31.11)
No Terry, you are way wrong on this one. It's OK for you sitting there in Eilat where apartments are so much cheaper than up here. You don't even seem to understand that these are REAL middle-class people, not just some leftist stirrers, and they want REAL solutions, not just arrogant wool-over-the-eyes garbage rantings from your PM who doesn't give a crap about them as long as he can still sit on his throne.
66. # 43 List of doctors?
MBA ,   ISRAEL   (07.31.11)
Excuse me for prying but why would one who vacationed in Montecarlo come back with a list of doctors? I'm sure your wife had a lovely time!
67. # 15 Al - wake up
mba ,   Israel   (07.31.11)
Free Ride? These middle class citizens pay 45% income tax, 16% VAT, $ 8 a gallon for gasoline, 40% higher prices for food and dry goods. Oh, they give three years for active military service (not optional), 20 to 40 days reserve service, and many young people gave an additional one year for community service before the army. FREE RIDE? GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR A--S
68. I ACCUSE MR. FISCHER
Salomon   (07.31.11)
1. Where were you when the $ start to fall ? You let it go down, not intervening, and let the Exporters bleed real blood, loosing money. 2. Look what happened : cheap $ went to new cars, a virtual and not affordable , high standing of life. When you sow that the king was naked, you start to buy $, in order to stop the real desaster of highly evaluated shekel. Too late, because since long time the industrials are increasing the domestic prices in order to reduce the loosing of exports. You dont see the logic? Or maybe you preferred they Fire workers.? Bad timing Mr Fischer it's too late/ My money in the bank, gets almost NO INTEREST. How much would they charge me if I want a loan ? At least 15%, besides all expenses of account etc. The difference goes to the already full pockets of the managers of these bank. Did you ever think to intervene, or you cant , because you get your salary this way. I ACCUSE YOU MR. FISCHER OF WEAKNESS.
69. Remember the old, good "Yiddishe Cop".
Keren ,   IL-BR   (07.31.11)
Social changes start happening when WE change into the right direction and not the other way around. If Israelis believe that they are children, they will be treated as children by bad tutors who will sell them whatever THEY want, regardless the REAL necessities, well being and sanity of these "children". Before these modern times ,Jews knew how to use "cop"and were not spoiled ,manipulated brats. Well, maybe the governments they use to live under in that Western Europe and etc, obliged them to be so... If 27#'s( see http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4102005,00.html) advice is followed by all,I garantee that governamental policy WILL change for better and a lot of the trash that people blindly swallow will be gone and good sense will prevail. For a country that has created the concept of Kibbutz,it will be a piece of cake to create a much perfectioned society.
70. # 52
Moshe ,   Beit Shemesh   (07.31.11)
You have my answer in post #58
71. It's simple.
Lisa ,   Hod Hasharon   (07.31.11)
I actually don't want to pay less taxes. But I want basic services in return. I want my taxes to stop supporting the non-working sectors (I'm not talking about people who cannot work, such as those with who are mentally or physically challenged). And if you only knew how much of our taxes were poured into the black hole of corruption that permeates every level of our government... So 1 - make all able-mind and bodied people WORK. 2 - Root out corruption, where for example, instead of 1M NIS of our taxes going to an educational or cultural program, it went to a student fair in Eilat because the minister of culture was allegedly having an affair with the woman who ran the fair. Another minister gives his old army buddy $1M for another project. I assure you, these are things that are happening every single day. Fix these two things, and you'll have your budget, probably with change to spare.
72. The real "problem" will be when...
Keren ,   IL-BR   (07.31.11)
...people find their heads free of trash. Then they will have a bit of a hard time finding what to fill them with or turning to, and it will be then that the REAL answers will come up.
73. TO 56 The govt in the US caused the eonomic mess.
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (07.31.11)
Social groups such as Acorn pressured the govt to make laws forcing banks to loan money to people so that they could buy homes they could not afford. If a bank refused to loan money to potential deadbeats, they held protests outside the banks to embarrass them. Now the whole system has collapsed taking a lot of people's parnasa with it. Socialism never works.
74. to #59 If I were really smart...
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (07.31.11)
I would have gotten an MBA from Harvard and now I would be the CEO of a big corporation and make lots of money. Companies are not in business to give you cheap products, they are not in business to give you a job. Their responsibility is to their stock holders who invested in the company. Stock holders are not all rich people, they are people like you and me who have pensions or a little savings on the side. If they are smart and can make big profits for the company, they deserve the high pay they get.
75. to #61 There is a good reason why there is no tax on rental
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (07.31.11)
In the early 90s, when the Russian aliyah began, there were a lot of people who had second apartments sitting empty. In order to give people incentive to rent them out, the govt caneled the tax on rental income. If you over tax corporations, they will leave the country. University and college tuition is very reasonable here. I have a daughter who recently graduated from a public academic college. The tuition was the same as any university, NIS 8500/year. My other daughter went to a public university in the US with in state tuition, almost $8000 a year. If people are cheating on their taxes the govt has to start investigating people. In the US we are all afraid of being audited by the IRS. Thats what keeps people honest. A lot of men are not paying their child support. I know several mothers who get the money from Pituach Leumi because the fathers dont pay. In theory the govt is supposed to go after the fathers, but in reality they don't. So who ends up paying for their kids? You and me.
76. Rothschild Boulevard
Nathanial Rothschild ,   City of London   (07.31.11)
Kind of funny and Ironic that it's taking place on Rothschild Boulevard. You are debt SLAVE!
77. @60 Mr. Terry of ELITE
Susan ,   Israel   (07.31.11)
Terry of ELITE that's what we are gonna call you, instead of Terry from Eilat if you don't mind, Mr. Terry of ELITE apparently you have so much STUFF to defend and I'm quite sure, you are financially secure over there in ELITE, blinded as George Carlin used to say by all my STUFF. We change our draws, we change our food, we change our doctors, we change our cars, we change our toothbrushes, we change our skin, some even change their hair color, we change our minds oh so ever often. We change, change, change, change its almost like its constant. Now we will change the Status quo $$$. What ever you call it we change. Hope you are not a$ffected to much, but it can be healthy,,,,and get ready for this, it can be Liberating$ for you and all that STUFF now that's a REVOLUTION
78. Anarchism and populism
Ilan ,   Ariel   (07.31.11)
People who scream about the tax burden and simultaneously demand more government spending are impossible to satisfy. The extreme bigotry and distortions of the protest leaders is another red flag as to their ultimate aims. Che ia passé
79. That fat kid on the seesaw
Yuval ,   Israel   (07.31.11)
Have you ever seen the fat kid on the seesaw and there's that little one who wants to go up and down, up and down and play, it dosen't work, does it, the fat kid got his big old ass on the ground holding up the fun, Well that's the problem in Israel, big old fat kids that weigh to much, and even in the corporate sector, they got to much, more than what they need and the good of the country,,,, they are oblivious to,, as long as its "business as usual" and that's some sick sh-t in a supposedly healthy economy where things are suppose to be balanced, fluid, and equal. Now lets go play on the seesaw. Simple even a child can do it..........I just hate people who make things complicated.
80. Llana
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (07.31.11)
We have the same sort of people here too so Cameron knows what he is talking about. You are right that we are outsiders here but you don't seem to be doing very well minding your own business at the moment. Please if you will be so kind, let us know how you solve your problems if ever you do. We are not to arrogant to learn from others as you seem to be.
81. A Huge Solution: Build New Cities & Homes in Judea & Samaria
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (07.31.11)
Not only will housing be much cheaper, it will also act as a major security protecting all Israel. The strategically military high ground of Judea and Samaria is vital to Israel's defense. Without Judea and Samaria, the rest of Israel CANNOT be defended.
82. Israeli Leaders Perpetrated a Huge Economic Disaster
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (07.31.11)
Israel REWARDED the thousands of rockets fired by Gaza Muslims into the Jewish Israeli towns of Gush Katif, Gaza. Israel rewarded the Jew-haters by gifting them the famous, highly successful, high tech Jewish greenhouses. 10,000 Gaza Jews were ethnically cleansed from Gaza for the sole reason they were Jews and not Muslim. Many of the evicted Jews had to live in tents for a long time. They are still struggling to survive. The lesson Muslim terrorists learned. Your terrorism WILL be richly rewarded.
