John Prophet   (08.18.11)
Abbas will unleash the Furies!
2. its scares me but i trust in Hashem

3. War is hardly avoidable.
Yossef   (08.18.11)
4. Oslo
michael Pielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (08.18.11)
Give credit ti Mr. haber. He and his boss, Mr. Yitzhaq Rabin are totally responsible for an arab claim to statehood in Judea and Samaria. This claim is derived directly from Oslo Stand up Mr. haber and take your credit. Oslo a horriffic gamble gone bad!
5. Thanks to Liberman Israel has very few friends
Haim ,   TA   (08.18.11)
Thanks to Liberman, Israel has become a rogue state and become politically isolated. Things are not looking good for Israel as the UN will be voting on recognition of a Palestinian state
6. ''shall'' should be ''will''
(08.18.11)
please research the correct use of the rather archaic word ''shall'' in everyday English
7. Come September
Yosef ben Baruch ,   Palm Beach USA   (08.18.11)
Total, major Intifada is not likely, but individual, horrific acts of terror are to be expected, with their own rapidly accumulating critical mass - and massive military, yet unpredictable response by IDF, - in Gaza and Galil. May the Almighty save all those precious lives, AMEN
8. it will take two years to exhaust diplomacy.
Michael ,   California, USA   (08.18.11)
Maximum two years. It may come sooner. Israel is a victim of its own obstinacy and will sit doing very little because it is politically paralyzed. The situation will get progressively worse and by 2014 there will be a major war in which Israel will face 150 countries' coalition. This is a terrible countdown to Palestine. Historians will blame the current government and its head, Netanyahu. Netanyahu's historical legacy will be disastrous.
9. Good Ester @#2. Trust in Hashem
Israeli 2   (08.18.11)
and don't be scared. If Hashem does not allow it, it won't happen. As simple as that.
10. If you have faith in Hashem you don't fear no man
Rachel ,   US   (08.18.11)
So calm down Eitan.
11. PLAUSIBLE
john ,   cardiff   (08.18.11)
Someone like me living at a long distance from Israel wonders if the writer is a high level diplomat as compared to Netanyhu and Liberman. If they are quite and not worried then what difference it will make if 120 or 150 states recognise Palestinian state. The PM and FM will say, as usual, that the whole World is against us.
12. We have a right to rule ourselves or eqaul rights in Israel
Abdalla   (08.18.11)
Israel can not have it both ways
13. To #12
jensen99 ,   jayapura   (08.18.11)
Yeah, do it in Jordan. Not in Judea and Samaria.
14. Yehuda and Shomron for over 3000 years.
bob kirk ,   las vegas usa   (08.18.11)
Eytan Haber claims that the 'west bank' is (the former name of the Judea and Samria region). In fact, as Haber surely knows, the term 'west bank' was coined in 1946 by Jordan which saw itself as the 'kingdom of east bank - west bank'.. The names Yehuda and Shomron, rendered into English as Judea and Samaria, have been in use for over 3000 years. Brtiish Mandate era maps of 'Palestine' show areas named Judea and Samaria, the Galilee , Sharon, etc - i.e. traditional Jewish names in the land of Israel. What will Mr. Haber do when he finds the PA calling Israel 'Palestine'? Will he claim that 'Palestine' was the original name of Israel? Or, will he check his facts and find that the Romans renamed Israel as 'Palestine' after defeating the Jewish final rebellion in 132 C.E.?
15. 5, yeap no condemnation before this gov
Danny   (08.18.11)
Not un resolutions. No goldstone report, no condemnation of 2nd leb war. Just hugs and kisses
16. Not first or last time Pals challenge Israel
Sam ,   Canada   (08.18.11)
Get over it. The Palestinians have been challenging Israel for many years and will find creative new ways to do it after the UN in September. As usual they will be knocking their heads against the wall.
17. Abdalla at 12
18. august 2011   (08.18.11)
Israel can have it both ways if the Lord G-d ordains it. But then, you will not be able to understand who the Lord G-d is... now will you???
18. What Palestinian state?
Geoff ,   London (UK)   (08.18.11)
I was under the impression that for the UN to recognise a state, Security Council approval was required. If that is the case, I don't think we'll be seeing a Palestinian state for some time.
19. Haber, you never change.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (08.18.11)
Still the same weak appeaser, no backbone, no imagination, trapped in a time warp from Oslo. People like you have brought this upon us. Don't you ever learn? I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks. How did you get through life being such a wimp? Annex Area C, parts of B & the Jordan Valley. End money transfers to the PA - it's 70% of their budget, they're already almost bankrupt, this will sink them altogether. Stop all trade & business dealings with the PA. Close the border with Gaza. I could go on but I think you get the picture. And stop shaking with fear everytime an Arab makes a threat.
20. Countdown to end for fictional Palestine.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.18.11)
We are witnessing the countdown to the second, and final, Palestine statehood fiasco. The P.A.'s 1988 declaration, under far more favorable circumstances than today, was a laughable failure. Israel can easily assure the upcoming Palestine statehood declaration is an even bigger fiasco than 1988. Firstly, we should completely abrogate the Oslo Disaster and assert our legal rights to all Judea and Samaria. Extend Israeli law to all of Judea and Samaria. If there are riots; deal with the P.A. as the terrorist thugs they are. After the second Palestine statehood declaration blows sky high, nobody will ever take Palestine seriously again. It is the countdown to the end for fictional Palestine.
21. Palestine state
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (08.18.11)
The forthcoming Palestine State will encompass all of former British Mandatory Palestine within the next 10 years, at most, and very likely sooner.
22. To: Geoff at No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.18.11)
Exactly right. There will never be an ersatz "Palestinian" state. The ersatz "Palestinians" couldn't govern themselves out of a brown paper bag. But they don't really care -- as long as Abbas has his private Gulfstream. Why would anyone be concerned that there is 45% unemployment in the "Palestine" Authority, as long as Abbas has his private Gulfstream, and the so-called ersatz "Palestinian" leadership have their multiple lavish homes in Europe and their very, very hefty offshore bank accounts? I mean -- that's all that really counts, right?
23. Where have all the flowers gone?
Abe the babe ,   usa-israel   (08.19.11)
Any body here remember the good old days When the USA was fighting in Vienam to stop Communist agression and expansionism. Well the lefties decided that this was a racist war agaiinst asians The flower children made rallys sang songs like all we are asking is give peace a chance. Eventually the war folded not because of the left but because theright joined them. Patriot Americns got tired of fighting a war that the USAhad no desire to win. I was a leftist in those days-may G-D forgive me. But when Pol Pot started killing out the Cambodian people it suddenly dawned upon me that people stopped wearing flowers in their hair. Suddenly killing Asians didnt matter. Same hERE FOLKS,IF iSRAEL ever disapears so will the Palestinians because they will no longer be relevant. They will suddenly become like the Syrians and Libyans ordinary Arabs living under brutal dictaators and the world wont even yawn. SoIsrael if you want to win this war then you must fight it to win or you will end up with flowers on your graves. When will they ever learn that peace can omly come through stenth
24. To All Commentators
Harold ,   USA   (08.19.11)
I read all your comments and found 98 percent are against a Palestinian State and prefer occupation and colonization. I wish Hashem gives you wisdom to act normally as human beings.
25. #23 Abe the babe, there is wisdom in your words
Harry Wright ,   UK   (08.19.11)
26. Five Arab armies attacked Israel after
jgarbuz ,   Queens, NY   (08.19.11)
the UN authorized a Jewish state, but the UN did NOTHING either to stop or even condemn the illegal Arab attack! So the UN recognition of Israel did not stop the Arabs from attacking it, so why can't Israel attack the Palestinian state the day after it is officially declared too? I hope the Israeli ambassador reminds the General Assembly of this fact, that they did nothing for Israel in 1948 when it was attacked!
27. To Abdallah: Pledge allegiance to the
jgarbuz ,   Queens, NY   (08.19.11)
flag of David, and no problem! If the Arabs recognize that Israel is the Jewish state and homeland, as well as the country of all of its citizens, then no problem! Jews lived in Muslim and Arab states, and were often considered dhimmis, subjected to the jizya. But all we Jews require of non-Jews in the State of Israel is to respect that it is the ancient Jewish homeland! Only then can they have FULL equal rights! But not if they deny JEwish national rights in our historical homeland!
28. The best strategy is simple.
Vlad   (08.19.11)
Continue to stock up on non-lethal gear, use that for the typical stone-throwing crowds and use firearms only in extreme cases, and use deadly force only against armed resistance. Plus, make sure that pictures of Israeli casualties and Palestinian violence are broadcast worldwide, along with daily announcements of casualties, to prevent world condemnation at Israeli heavy-handedness. That last suggestion is the most critical one: I have no doubt that dozens of Palestinians will be killed in September's "popular struggle".
29. 24 - no, we're against the true apartheid palestinian state
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (08.19.11)
when a jewish liberal democracy is around, who needs an islamic apartheid state that oppresses minorities, women and forbids non-arabs from participating as equal humans? besides, which state would be committed to the destruction of the other via genocide? seems you have a different definition of "normal human beings" than most normal human beings.
30. #12 Abdalla - Rule yourselves
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (08.19.11)
Jordan is just the place to do it There is no such thing as a Palestine, never was, it was an artificial creation of Rome You had no Capital City, No Rulers of your own, not even a few crummy coins to show that you ever existed
