1. Bibi and Barak: perfect together
David ,   NJUSA   (08.18.11)
Niether one of these blowhards had the brains to fortify the Egyptian border all these years. Israelis have been their suckers I'm sorry to say.
2. Tell me again how we're better off with Mubarak gone?
JB ,   Rehovot Israel   (08.18.11)
Now Sinai is Iraq after the fall of Sadaam. Don't be so quick to wish for Asaad's demise. Do we really need attacks like this in the Golan and the Galilee?
3. No justice in Israel.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.19.11)
The only thing the people can get from their government is plenty of terror attacks. Mmmm, falseflag? Maybe.
4. Terrorists
Beary White ,   Norway   (08.19.11)
It is time for the world to actually see what kind of people who represents the pals, murderers and terrorists. The words should not be packed in cotton, hamas and their followers are terrorists, even if they are friends of a norwegian female government member, who participated in a rally in favor of hamass.
5. simple math says that they want a
Barney ,   USA   (08.19.11)
1000 prisoners for Shalit. They killed 8 Israelis so 8 X 1000=8000. Take out 8000 of theirs same proportion military and civilian. war sucks.
6. To sum things up : Wizards of IDF Command prohibited shootin
ab   (08.19.11)
in order to "bring to an end the ongoing violence". IDF can't win if led by defeatists and morons like that.
7. terrible
Bar ,   New Zealand   (08.19.11)
It is terrible what happened. just one question about the article. In retaliation for the attacks, the IDF bombed a building in Rafah, killing six, Two of those killed were leaders of the Popular Resistance Committees, said to be responsible for the attacks. Who for the other 4? Innocent people? Why is there no info on that?
8. Clarification question
John ,   Alaska   (08.19.11)
The article reads: "In addition, it appears that the terrorists entered Israel from right underneath an Egyptian military outpost, an idea that seemed far-fetched to officials preparing for a possible attack." Does this mean that there was a smuggling-type tunnel under the Egyptian base? If not, how did the terrorists get there? If so, does this mean that the Egyptians were ignorant of a tunnel right under one of their bases, or does it mean that Egypt, despite its denials, was complicit in the terrorist attack?
9. BOMBING A BUILDING IN RAFAH
ALEXI   (08.19.11)
This barak method has gone long enough with now over 2000 israeli casualties since oslo. Hamas is the address. I will now announce measures_ 1)Get thepeople in the home front ready vilnai 2) Hit all the gas stations in gaza on the side facing eilat. 3) eliminate haniyeh, zohar and their key aide-de camps. 4) knock out all fuel depots and metal shops. 5) retake philadelphi. Of course barak won't do this because he is afraid of US/ UN. This is why jews have suffered for centuries. They do not stand up to the bully.
10. Help me out now!
G. Fränkl   (08.19.11)
How could this tragic death occured for the dear soldier??? Don't they routinely wear bulletproof vests all over the body?? Unless he was killed by targeting his head, how the hell did it happen that he was killed? This is totally sad, tragic to the point I want to howl, cry and shout!
11. Reply: No justice in Israel.
steven ,   usa   (08.19.11)
Rich Toronto: Your assertion that this terror attack was somehow Israel's fault is a complete sack of shit. Whatever your political affiliation may be, your kind of response to the death and mayhem is out of line. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

Body armor is great for protection against small arms munitions and flak up to about 7.62 - anything larger than that and you might as well be wearing a t-shirt. Also Kevlar disperses the energy of the round across a wider area of the body. It stops penetration, but not necessarily the energy of the round which can still cause internal injuries and broken bones. Modern Kevlar armor with sapi plates is highly effective but none of it will protect you against a close IED blast. Most battle injury deaths are due to extremity wound exsanguination anyway - which body armor again, wont protect against. J

israelis should return back to the right borders of which/ when israel was declared as a state. israelis were so happy to have a state in palestine in 1948-peace should be enforced then
14. This happened because of sinat chinam.
Sara Leff ,   Israel   (08.19.11)
Whenever we have internal strife, Hashem reminds us that we need to wake up and stop hating each other. The strength of the Jews is in their UNITY. Get it? When we love and help each other, NO ONE can beat us. But when we rip into each other, we are left defenseless. WAKE UP PEOPLE. Stop the infighting NOW!!! For the sake of our nation!!!
15. 8 D E A D!
les ,   canada   (08.19.11)
if it wasn't for those heroic kids in the IDF/IAF israel would be long gone. the so called "leader ship" gone fat, soft in the belly, positioning themselves for the next election. talking about the next election: LIEBERMAN FOR PRIME MINISTER! no more politically correct politicos needed.
16. Obama
Michael Pielet ,   Boca, usa   (08.19.11)
Katzenberg is a homosexual first, Jew second, what do you expect. Soros-Schwartz and Uncle Tom Friedman are just plain ordinary Jew haters. Soros Schwartz according to his father Tidavar, was a Nazi collaborator against the Jews in Hungary during the war, until his father stopped him.
17. Enter Israel from UNDER an Egyptian post - without any help?
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (08.19.11)
It seems far-fetched that a heavily-armed squad of terrorists could enter Israel from underneath the cover of an Egyptian military border outpost, unless they had the assistance of the Egyptian soldiers manning it. Unless there is a translation error hear, it must be concluded that Egyptian Army personnel were in on this. Regardless, the US must reinforce the demilitarized status of the Sinai be immediately canceling the recently announced sale of 150 heavy tanks to Egypt (Hamas and Sinai militants have no tanks) and instruct Egypt to use the $300 million instead to cut off arms smuggling from the Seuz area into Sinai - and to cordon off the Egypt Gaza border from all smuggling - no trucks on the Egyptian side for a distance of 5 miles (too far to tunnel). Further, it is obvious that Egypt's opening of the Gaza border has allowed a flood of terrorists to enter Sinai. Israel should demand the the US pressure Egypt to reverse this of no more luxury items get into gaza from Israel. It is clear Hillary double-crossed Israel on this - Israel lets goods into Gaza, Hillary looks the other way while Egypt breaches its obligations and Hamas starts terrorism again.

norman ,   france, Eurabia   (08.19.11)
"Who for the other 4? Innocent people?" Why don't you ask this for the 7 innocent person killed and the two kids. Please, tell me why 4 innocent people where in the same car as the 2 commanders of hamas? Please, have your mind ON ;-(
21. We need to rid our government of
jason white ,   afula,israel   (08.19.11)
both bibi and barak. We need to elect new people and rid the knesset of these lifetime politicians. We need a new COS and replace all the General staff with new blood. The egyptian military base should be bombed using a drone. We need to destroy the beduin of the Sinai. Build th fence already. Finally arm all veterans of the I.D.F.
22. Stop any peace thoughts and/or talks
No more peace ,   with/for   (08.19.11)

Excuse me? Never heard of innocent until proven guilty? And it was not Hamas.
24. Sinai a hotbed for terror and the border is not safe?
Ben Zion   (08.19.11)
Somebody in the security apparatus has failed terribly again. Everybody knows the situation in sinai for a LONG TIME - but still the border is not safe. In business those in charge would be fired - what about the security apparatus? Israel cant afford failures like that - pull the consequences!
25. God Bless Israel
David ,   New England   (08.19.11)
God Bless Israel and the families of those who were murdered. Put to rest any notion of land for peace with these people. You can't trust them. Fatah is just as bad, don't fool yourselves.

28. Jack #13
Abie Dee ,   New York, U.S   (08.19.11)
Yes, Israelis were quite happy with their tiny state in 1948. But, perhaps you haven't heard.....5 Arab armies invaded this new state with the clear intention of pushing the Jews into the sea. As a result of this war and several others the Arabs lost more land and created the refugee problem. Now you're all caught up Jack...
29. Where is the IDF?
Mark ,   USA   (08.19.11)
Are Israelis totally spineless?? You just were attacked, an act of WAR...what's it going to take to go into Gaza and end this terror...it's been going on since '48? Is everybody in Israel off their rocker?
30. After mubarak Egypt will help terrorist to enter Israel
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome-Italy   (08.19.11)
...there is not such a Arab spring for democracy in Egypt, but arab spring for more radical Islam, where terror cell will be free to kill with the Muslim brotherhood blessing... With Mubarak the "illigal market" of human immigration and terroris was only underground but a good business Now without mubarak Israel has yet found a new enemy, with this egyptian "no government " there will be more terror attacks...the radicals will take over and Egypian police will be helping terror cell to infiltrate....
