Greycoat ,   Tampa, FL   (09.01.11)
She's ignorant, so she can't help be a "useful idiot" for the Jihadists.
62. Give the Supremacists an inch & They'll Take a Mile
Greycoat ,   Tampa, FL   (09.01.11)
Give the Supremacists an inch & They'll Take a Mile. No apology period.
63. Israel Should Apologize
Essie HaKohane ,   Florida, USA   (09.01.11)
The apology should say: We are sorry that you are such a dumb, stubborn, uncivilised country with no regard to international law. You should learn from your Greek neighbors on how to behave in a civilised manner and respect the law.
64. They want an apology BEFORE the report
PaulZion ,   Israel   (09.01.11)
only because they are concerned that it will find that Israel acted within its rights to protect the Blockade. f&^% them.
65. Did the Turks ever Apologize for the following:
Frankie Littlehammer ,   New Herstal, TX, USA   (09.01.11)
Did the Turks ever apologize for taking the land of Armenians, Greeks and others only one thousand years ago? Did the Turks ever apologize for massacring Serbs at Kosovo 600 years ago? Did Turks ever apologize for expelling hundreds of thousands of Greeks in 1916 and 1923? For blowing up most of the Acropolis?
66. Help the Kurds! Israel's
David ,   Montpelier   (09.01.11)
own Plan B. Let Mossad and IDF equip the Kurds and Turkey will have its own plan B on its hands. Look people, you have to fight back, you can't just complain.
67. # 43..you are wrong again Sarah...
Edithann ,   USA   (09.01.11)
The Turks have a legitimate argument against Israeli crimes on the 'high seas'... Seems you're so called intellect has a major flaw and it's 'critical thinking'. TATA
68. Apology to Turkey
R.A. Gur ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (09.01.11)
...and what about us. Why don't we, Israel, demand an apology from Turkey for the vicious, merciless attack on our soldiers? In other words, we'll apologize when they do - not before.
69. I've got an Idea!
Adam ,   Israel   (09.01.11)
let's send the kurds some aid and the ask the UN to condemn Turkey for the way it treats IT'S OWN CITIZENS.
70. To #23 Kathleen, is this what you mean?
John ,   Alaska   (09.01.11)
This is what happened between Israel and the fake, made-up "palestinian" Arabs in 1947-1948: 1. Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Egypt say: "Hey, fellow Arabs, get out of the way so that we can kill all the Jews!" 2. Lots of Arabs in the 22% of Mandatory Palestine alloted to the Jews say: "Okay - drive those %$#@ Jews into the sea!" 3. Other such Arabs say: "That's okay, we'll stay and watch you kill Jews!" 4. Seven Arab nations attacke Israel. God moves mightily to give victory to His Chosen People 5. For the next 63 years, the Arabs keep saying "We want a do-over" and keep trying to kill the Jews 6. In 1967, Yasser Arafat tells the Arabs in Israel to start calling themselves "Palestinians" so that they can get sympathy from the West 7. The fake "palestinian" Arabs keep pushing their phony narrative and in 2011 people as far away as Bar Harbor view the Arabs' failed genocidal attack to kill all the Jews in Israel as some kind of genocide the Jews commited against "Palestinians" Is that what you mean by "genocide", Kathleen?
71. To #58 Dovy, irony is always interesting
John ,   Alaska   (09.01.11)
It took me a moment to realize why you were complaining; I actually had to reread the article. In explanation: Israel is often called "the Jewish state" in the same way that Iran or Pakistan are often called "the Islamic republic." This allows the writer, whether a journalist of scholar, a little variety in phraseology, because the reader will assuredly know that these are synonyms. In fact, synonym dot com defines Israel as "Jewish republic in southwestern Asia at eastern end of Mediterranean; formerly part of Palestine [the British Palestine Mandate which comprised the land area of Israel and Jordan]". Synonym dot com also lists Zion as a legitimate synonym for modern Israel (as opposed to the other entry the site has, which is for Biblical Israel). It does become tedious to explain things to idiots who are either unwilling or unable to do the research for themselves. But don't feel down, I've been where you are and had to have things explained for me as well at times.
72. Not a crime Edithann
Yankev ,   USA   (09.01.11)
Edithann, it is not a crime to enforce a blockade, particularly against an enemy that is attacking you. It IS an act of war to attempt to run a blockade. And it is a crime to try to kill uniformed navy personnel who have lawfully boarded your vessel to enforce the blockade. If any crime was committed, it was by the armed no good scum who were killed, and who announced before they sailed that they would murder Jews if given the opportunity. Good riddance.
73. Davutoglu's many plan B's
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (09.01.11)
After visiting Assad 2 weeks ago told the Turkish press this was the last chance for Assad to stop the killings immediately and start reforms or ELSE. After two weeks of this ultimatum we are still waiting for the ELSE. Coming from Davutoglu I take 'OR ELSE', or plan B or C...... These plans keep the Turkish public busy and feel good thinking that they are ruling the region. That's all.
74. Ali # 48
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (09.01.11)
Smart people in the western world has found ways to change the way water flows by building water dams (such as the great Hoover Dam). Israeli people are intelligent, resourceful, hard working and resilient. They don't wait until the water comes and washes them away, they plan ahead and take necessary precautions.
75. #65 What about Roman Empire
teo ,   trabzon   (09.01.11)
The 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey (Greek: Η Ανταλλαγή, Turkish: Mübadele) was based upon religious identity, and involved the Greek Orthodox citizens of Turkey and the Muslim citizens of Greece. It was a major compulsory population exchange, or agreed mutual expulsion. The "Convention Concerning the Exchange of Greek and Turkish Populations" was signed at Lausanne, Switzerland, on the 30th January 1923, by the governments of Greece and Turkey
76. Ultimatum is designed to be rejected. Turkish

I can hear ALL OF ISRAEL SAYING: "GO TO HELL TURKEY" AND ADDED; GOBBLE GOBBLE BOBBLE...
78. Turkish Huzpa
Michael ,   Madison,NJ USA   (09.01.11)
I believe that Turkey will block flights to and from Israel over Turkey. This is the worse that they can do and it will hurt Israel. However,Israel should not apologize. Turkey is the one that should apologize.
79. Turkey, The Fair Weather Friend of the US
Ross Gallen ,   Henderson, USA   (09.01.11)
The United States should terminate all of its aid to Turkey. It is not and has never been a dependable ally of the United States. Its present government is extremist in its views and policies, and simply wants to advance the militant Muslim agenda which is contrary to the interests of the United States. It's time to speak the truth. The US has learned time and again that it cannot depend on the loyalty of Turkey. The US has only one country it can rely on and that is Israel. These are the descendants of the same people who committed the Armenian genocide.

daze ,   US   (09.01.11)
The only thing legitimate about the turks is the fact that they are murderous thugs, as proven by their actions, current and past. Just ask the Kurds and Armenians. You might be better served by taking your "critical" thinking and posting it on the muslim sites, you'll be believed and exalted there. TuhTa' and chinchin

I dont get it. sure its interests of every nation to work for the best for the nation. But I dont understand how the world can be quiet and say nothing when the turks act the way they do. They kill kurds, dont give them any rights, compare to the palestinians, the PA are living in paradise. A population of over 45 milion it makes the kurds one of the biggest ethnic groups in middle east! half of that number lives in turkey!

88. #23 - Benefit of the doubt
Ram ,   London   (09.01.11)
Assuming you are misinformed and not biased, because of the contents of your post, please allow me to say the following: 1. It is now universally agreed that the Mavi Marmara had on board elements that had all but peaceful intentions. Israel's actions were legally correct according to international law. That is now accepted! 2. There are 1.2 million arabs "palestinians" living within Israel proper. They receive the same opportunities as all Israelis do, regardless of creed. There are doctors, lawyers and all kinds of professionals among them. That is hardly "ethnic cleansing" as you put it. Israeli arabs are treated better than arabs living in arab lands. 3. All the "palestinian" refugees anywhere have been refugees for "over 60 years"! They are where they are by their own choice out of an evil plot by their leaders...no one pushed them out, just like the 1.2 million that are still within Israel proper. It was the Jews that were robbed of all their possessions and cleansed from arab countries, or murdered, at the same time but guess what....they are no longer refugees because they were absorbed by tiny and "legitimate" Israel. Why are the "palestinians" still refugees? 4. You are right in principle to state that admitting one's faults shows strength not weakness. However, you are addressing the wrong party. 5. You should preach the "human rights" mantra in equal doses to all humans. Need I point out the stark difference between the adherence to those rights by Israel's actions and "all" the muslim countries? This site gives you the possibility to vent your feelings because of the democratic attributes prevalent in Israel. It is good to enter into discussion with the intention of gaining knowledge and exercising fair-mindedness with the acquired knowledge. The question is: "Are your intentions to expand your and spread knowledge using all the arguments you can possibly put forward or do you just intend to blindly bash?" Regards

solomon ,   bklyn   (09.01.11)
No, YOUR so called intellect has a major flaw in thinking, let alone "'critical" thinking. A blockade can be established in international waters, no matter how much you close your eyes and ears. Is your other name “observer”? TATA.
90. #44 american jew
solomon ,   bklyn   (09.01.11)
I respectfully disagree. Any country that apologizes about something in which they were the victims, especially after sticking to international law and procedures, makes itself open for more ridicule. And the fact that the EU "affirms" that the settlements are illegal says more about the EU than anything else.
