35. we're back in the days before 6 day war...
stephane ,   france   (09.08.11)
i think that israel is facing the biggest threat since 1967. slowly slowly i see a coalition of ennemies preparing to attack israel.it's like a pyramid, on the top we have the ugly mahmmod from teheran, he's giving his orders to to fat boy nasrallah, to dirty mashaal, and now, to his new dog herr dogan. mahmood gave order to herr dogan to bring the new egypt ( the egypt of the muslim brotherhood ) into this alliance of our ennemies... we have to be careful because this bastards can try to attack all of them in the same time. israel have to be stronger than ever and answer very hardly on the day herr dogan will send his navy...because this day will come and they will come to look for war.
36. We can see it comming
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (09.08.11)
I only hope, that Barak has a double strategy: 1. appease Turkey 2. prepare for the worst with high pressure! If not, I hope Netanyahu has a double strategy: 1. let Barak appease Turkey 2. give Gabi Ashkenazi the duty when it's due. I hope, Ashkenazi will do a better job than Barak. And, pleeeeeease: establish and publish a staged plan to implement the blockade so that every skipper knows in advance, what will happen at what distance to the coast and when his boat finally will be sunk.
37. Israel Is Not Armenia
Dan ,   USA   (09.08.11)
One year ago who would have thought the possibility of a mideast war could begin with Israel and Turkey. Erdogan will find that Israel is not Armenia.

Ken ,   Australia   (09.08.11)
to go completly scar-face on all the arabs , its been to long that all of this arab insanity directed at Israel gets kicked in the arse. Enough is enough, we must show them who scarface really is, give them all a kick in the balls and let them bleed on the floor for a few years, but realy, realy, realy, enough is enough.
44. Even U.N. admits Gaza blocade is legal.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.08.11)
What is Erdogan trying to prove? Even the Israel bashing U.N. admitted Israel's Gaza blocade is legal. There is only one possible answer. As Caroline Glick recently noted: Erdogan's goal is to burnish his anti-Israel credibility among Moslem extremists. Hopefully, it won't come to this but if Erdogan really sends his navy to escort terrorists to Gaza; Israel must blow it out of the water. Those who assists terrorists are every bit as evil as terrorists themselves.
45. MORE PROOF POSITIVE
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.08.11)
Since the blockade is legal, the enforcement of the blockade is legal, any military ship that tries to break the blockade, is committing an act of war against Israel. Now Turkey is on notice from Israel and backed by the Palmer Report from the UN. So you must ask yourself, why does Turkey want to state in advance, that Turkey will commit an illegal act of war against another member nation of the UN?. Then ask, what response can Israel have? Of course Turkey is trying to provoke Israel, and Israel can sink all the Turkish War ships that help the flotilla. It proves that the flotilla was back by Turkey, and they are really much more at fault for the deaths of the terrorists on the Mavi Marmara. Again Turkey helps Israel should the government be sued by the families of those killed. SWEET!! Erdogan needs his head examined.
46. #9, bring it on
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (09.08.11)
"Erdie," as you so sneeringly call him, most definitely bring it in case the IDF gets any more funny ideas about stopping the next aid flotilla to Gaza. Israel is no match for the Turkish navy. The Turkish fleet will also put an end to Israeli working of the Mediterranean gas and oil fields. If Zionist regime decides to invite "Erdie" to "bring it on," it will be in for a crushing defeat and at least a Turkish occupation.
47. How many lunatic leaders do the Moslems need?
meir elazar   (09.08.11)
They have Ahmadinejad, Erdogan, Nasrallah. Saddam Hussein is gone along with his regime. Gaddafi is almost gone. Osama is gone. Taliban are hurting. Gaza is full of lunatic terrorists and their leaders. We have some idiots like Barak and Livni. Hopefully we will be rid of them some time. The closest we have come to a certifiable lunatic was Olmert and he is permanently gone. Now someone need to put a muzzle on the mad dog. If Erdogan does what he threatens he would be kicked out of NATO and there would be major ramifications to Turkey. Sending Turkish warships to Israeli waters will start a war just as certainly as blocking the Straits of Tiran did in 67. I don't think too many NATO countries would stand by Turkey if they did this. This guy must have a mental illness to make such a big deal over the the stupid incident where the Turkish terrorists provoked the incident in the first place. Since Israel has nothing to lose with respect to Turkey, it is likely that they will not exercise the restraint that they did in the last incident.
48. Erdogan is a joker do not care what he says.
Batu ,   Istanbul, Turkey   (09.08.11)
Cool Down folk as a Turkish we know this dude very well.He is master of talking crab.If anyone out there follows his political statements will know that whatever he says yesterday forgets today.Look at his comments about NATO intervention to Libya and see how he totally changed his opinions just in three weeks. So there is no need to get angry or anything. He is just dreaming that he is sultan of the middle east. But Soon or later he is going to wake up.Oh Btw we got a old saying In Turkish which goes like a dog which barks does not bite,Let him bark little more.
49. Directly to the roast!!
Geo, Athens   (09.08.11)
"Turkey had taken steps to stop Israel from unilaterally exploiting natural resources from the eastern Mediterranean!!! (said the Soultan when he lost his temper)! For anyone who doubted why the provocation of the flotilla happened. Maybe it would help to remember the wars for oil and how the maps were drawn in the Middle East.
50. Increase the defense budget!
jason white ,   afula, israel   (09.08.11)
We need to increase spending on new weapons systems and build up the I.D.F. We need to order new combat aircraft and warships now! Use the billions of dollars we have in bank of Israel accounts. Buy surplus F-16s from the U.S. now. Cut all welfare programs and stop paying child allowances to those that never served in the I.D.F. Make all those that did not serve pay a defense tax on each member of their families. All non Zionist institutions should not be funded by the government and should pay a 75% tax on any donations they receive. The head turkey is crazy. He will not be satisfied till there is a war with Israel. We need to arm and train the Kurds. Let them bring terror to the streets of turkey. Let the turks cry over their dead soldiers and children. Whatever aid they bring to gaza should be hit by the I.A.F. and the hell with collateral damage.
51. Next flotilla?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.08.11)
Just destroy the little yachts and ferries (which do not have cargo holds, and therefore cannot possibly carry alleged "humanitarian aid" while they are berthed in Mersin and Iskenderun. It will come as a huge shock to Turkey, but NATO will turn a blind eye. So, for that matter, will Iran. Turkey's threat amounts to a declaration of war. Israel will be fully justified in putting an end to any attempt to breach a fully legal and internationally recognized blockade, including the use of deadly force, before such an illegal breach is even launched. What's Turkey going to do? Attack Israel? It won't take us six days ....
52. To: Cynic at No. 38
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.08.11)
Oh, if only ....
53. To: New Yorker at No. 30
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.08.11)
Well, Turkey is feeling a tadbit humiliated following the publication of the Palmer Report. But it's important to keep in mind that Erdogan is Ahmedinejad's bitch. Teheran says "jump!" and Ankara says "how high?" You are quite right that the rhetoric out of Ankara has been ratcheted up significantly. But the source may be Teheran, not Ankara. Or, perhaps, both. But it would be a mistake to think that Israel will not respond to the extent necessary. A fatal mistake, actually.
54. Turkey in the EU?
Ivan ,   New Zealand   (09.08.11)
Any suggestion that Turkey could even be allowed the smallest foothold in the EU must now be utterly discredited. How can European democracies even begin to consider dealing with mad warmongers like this?
55. An Act of War!
Koose E Mack ,   NY NY   (09.08.11)
Erdogan, Ibn Sharmoot, you are declaring war.
56. Recep Tayyip Erdogan
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (09.08.11)
If the Turkish leader wants to help people in need, he should send a flotilla to Somalia,
57. @ 1, Sarah B
RC ,   USA   (09.08.11)
I don’t think size is his problem. After the bucking horse trampled it, he might be having a functional disorder. The man seems to be obsessed with Israel, and probably thinks it is time to bring forth the New Caliphate with Egypt’s help. Some Bible prophesies say the leader of Magog in the North will come against Israel in the end times. If this is the case then we are soon going to see some fireworks like never before. If you are in N.Y. you should probably be looking for higher ground. Mother Nature is starting to get pissed off if you get my drift. Take care Sarah; I enjoy reading your posts.
58. Obama prefers destruction of Israel
David ,   NJUSA   (09.08.11)
59. Might be time to remind the World that Turkey is responsible
Lev ,   CT   (09.08.11)
For Armenian and Kurdish deaths totaling many hundreds of thousands if not more. Turkey perpetrated these acts over the last 90 years and to this day is continuing to deny their hands are bloody.
60. This turkey risks starting a war
zionist forever   (09.08.11)
If the UN recognizes the blockade as legal and if Turkey sends warships to stop Israel enforcing the blockade legally thats considered an act of war. I have a feeling things are going to heat up in the Mediterranean because if Turkey sends warships Israel will send warships to send a message to Erdogan don't try and bully us. If we have Turkey and Israel playing chicken with warships in the Mediterranean then you risk somebody taking a pot shot and starting a war especially if Turkey tries to stop Israel enforcing the blockade next time a ship tries to breach it. Erdogan is being a real turkey here and he not only risks a war with Israel but angering other members of NATO which is going to be harmful to Turkey. There really are no winners in either Israel or Turkey through Erdogan's saber rattling.
