92. livni continues with appeasement
marcel   (09.10.11)
no one is talking war but israelis die and livni says we must maintain peace with egypt no protest against violation of vienna convention. Imagine if israelis had stormed the eyptian embassy-there would be war. Livni is ehud olmert's twin, a rank coward, who is stupid as well, real stupid. How do law schools accept shmucks like olmert, livni and weisglass. You are talking about people who are blind, who have no ability to read people like olmert on erdogan and worst of all, fearfull, gutless wimps who run at the first sign of trouble. Israelis die and haaretz says diplomatic tsunami and they run into a corner or barak runs begging to the US rather than demanding cairo to adhere to vienna convention which he should have done. he did not address egypt because he too is a rank coward in uniform noless. How does israel produce so many weaklings?

Nubarak   (09.10.11)
These are the people who fooled the west. They do not want democrazy all they want is the sharia. If they can not secure that the international laws are respected, they should pay the price for.
95. Israeli Sinai
Yitzchak ,   Israel   (09.10.11)
Do you the Egyptian people think they can scrap the peace agreement with Israel and keep the Sinai Peninsula?
96. Israeli Embassy
Benjamin ,   Greenville   (09.10.11)
Why is anyone surprised. Obama threw Mubarak to the wolves and this is what one gets. The concept of 'democracy' among Middle Eastern nations is a farce. THis is also a testament to American stupidity.

Sam M ,   UK   (09.10.11)
For heavens sake in the civilised world embassies are invariably found in large population centres in both residential and business districts. Stop making excuses for this hateful rabble. The Israel embassy was already like a mini fortress and that in itself is testimony to the primitive nature of much of Egyptian society. Or are Egyptians so backward that an embassy should be sited in an underground bunker or in the middle of the desert? Only in your twisted mind could this possibly be seen as a provocation! Your police and army just stood there and did nothing so what ever makes you think the Israeli embassy would be safe anywhere in Egypt? There's no hope for Egypt if law and order isn't restored and Egypt will end up in the abyss. Much of the arab world is still stuck in the dark ages though thankfully there are many Egyptians including those who have posted on ynet who are civilised, sensible and not driven by hatred.

103. Organized Accident By Mubarak Regime
Shady Mahmoud ,   Cairo   (09.10.11)
I'm one of the revolutioners in tahrir Sqaure and we all critisized the storm on the embassy, and we are sure that its organzied By the regime of Mubarak or the military coucil in order to deliver a message to Egyptian and tell them " thats why we still rule Egypt"
104. We love you Israel
Eliazer Cohen ,   Holland   (09.10.11)
It is unbelievable that people blame Israel for the islamic agression you face today. Mubarak was never a true friend of Israel. He always refused to visit Israel, except for one funeral. Are muslims stupid? Don't they see that Israel is a friend of every peaceloving democratic muslimpopulated state? Turkey is the same story. Erdogan is an anti-semite. The Turkish government is very hostile to Israel. They provoke the flotilla-raid! Turks should be ashamed of their government. I hope the americans don't re-elect Obama but put in charge a true leader that makes sure that you should not mess with Israel.
105. YOU CALL EGYPT A PRIMITIVE COUNTRY....#90
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (09.10.11)
Then, you need to read a lot because you portrayed yourself as an illiterate person,I am afraid.
106. response to richard from usa
simon ,   LONDON   (09.10.11)
shame on you your comments are not productive if you sincerely care about Israel what are you doing in USA you should be in Israel helping to build the country if you care so much instead of shaming the Israeli pm. he is not your pm!
107. The prophet Netanyahu "Coming soon to a theater near you!"
saraj ,   Jerusalem IL   (09.10.11)
This is what real democracy looks like. This is what happens when you allow mob rule. This is why America is a Republic. Why total power is not given to the president. When he says "rise up" to the muzzies, he knows this is incitement to riot. But while he lives in America, in downtown DC, in a pretty cage; he must realize the rabid angry muzzies, can just as quickly decide he also has betrayed them. And he is such an easy target, (him and his family) he does not live in a secluded restricted area. Everyone has such easy access to him. Netanyahu warned America, this angry "acting out" by non-thinkers would happen in America. Right now the Egyptian government is going along with the people, to gain power and position. Now watch how heavily they will sit on the people, in order to control them once they have their military pecking order worked out. No, sadly I see no real freedom for the Egyptian people. Not while they are under the cruel thumb of the caveman muzzies religion.
108. Let's not blow this out of proportion
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (09.10.11)
We all know how things happen in Arab/Muslim countries, once emotions boil up. I cannot imagine, that educated Egyptians are interested in worsening relationships between Israel and Egypt. But a vast share of Egypt peoples are illiterate and they are easy to motivate to such short sighted actions. I believe these nations need such incidences and the subsequent hangover feelings to regain conscience. The worst thing we can do, is pouring gasoline into the fire. Even though the embassies staff left Egypt, diplomacy will go on and hopefully lead to an entente cordial between the two neighboring countries. The least any of the countries in the region needs is war, because it will push at least one of the opponents back into the middle age, with almost no infrastructure left. I hope, that no Muslim country in the middle east seriously thinks about a conflict with Israel and I also hope, that Erdogan, just right now, is having some hard talks with his fellows and aides who will tell him, how stupidly he was acting. The situation really is uncomfortable, but pleeeeeease, everybody could see it coming, months ago, that the so called Arab spring would not be a orderly walk where Arabs join in rows of two, hand in hand and from walk kleptocracy to democracy, with a rule of law and developed social systems....... We all could smell it, that there are stakeholders, who want to prevent this. And even if this development takes place, it will take twenty, if not thirty years, it will suffer its set-backs and we only hope, that Barak Hussein Obama finally agrees, that he needs aides and first and foremost aides who are real experts in the Middle-East issues. It cannot go on with a U.S.-president, who seems to believe, that he knows everything and that his personal judgement is the only that counts. Bill Clinton already was bad enough with this problem, but Obama is worse, because he also seems to be bullheaded.
109. Time to permanently shut down the embassy
Steve from Raleigh   (09.10.11)
Egypt has been unable to feed its own people since the 1950's. And for what they are able to produce relies largely on Israeli technology in irrigation. Just shut it down and leave them to slowly slide back into the desert sands of 5,000 years ago. I am sure their new friends in Ankara would like nothing more than to feed 83 million Egyptians who do nothing more than smash and burn their own country. Egypt in a few years will look more like Somalia than the 'Arab Spring'. I say go for it. Long Live Tahir Square!
110. Arab lawlssness
Frank Mazuca ,   Lakeland, Florida, U   (09.10.11)
Typical response from an Arab when a violent, lawless contrary to all international law occurs and they applaud the act. It is a shame that people that cry for "Human rights" and stage atrocities against themselves don't car about any other persons rights.
111. Primitive
Efroim ,   Washington DC   (09.10.11)
These Islamic countries have always been primitive and will remain this way. Dont expect miracles from these "Menschenfresser". Turks in Germany also create problems. Nothing new here. The day will come when Israel has their lands back. I say let the barbarians hunger out. This is better than a hot war. Their economy is shot. Who in their right mind would go to Egypt or Turkey for that matter?
112. #3 I am speechless
Rhonda ,   Chicago, USA   (09.10.11)
Since reading the news this morning of what happened I was feeling very angry and discouraged. Thank you for posting your comment. It provides a bit of hope that there are sane people everywhere who just want to live in peace. Your comment reminded me that not everyone in Egypt wishes to end the peace treaty but would rather focus on helping Egypt recover its economy and create better lives for her people. We count on you to help the region get through these difficult times. We wish you well.
113. You are no longer a protestor when you break & enter...
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.10.11)
...so why do you continue to use that word throughout the story?
114. Netenyahu is very slow and has no plan for Israel
usa   (09.10.11)
Only thing his administration knows how to do is to express regret to enemies and to ponder "to apologize or not to apologize" this is the question which preocupies his administration.
115. ToRichardUSA: Give Those Israelis a Galil, In Israel
Noah Lev ,   HollywoodUSA   (09.10.11)
To RichardUSA; i read your post with great sympathy. I know many Israelis who live in the States,...give generously to Israeli charities (and Jewish) especially the MDA and Friends of the I(DF. 20 yrs ago, I wrote the local consulate that Israel's Oslo 1 and 2 were a waste of time., the Arabs having one goal, a Pales Judenrein (Judenfrei). True, Egypt/Jordan signed treaties..to their and Israelis advantages (quiet borders). But we see now that there are elements which want Israel and the Arab world to duke it out. These protests achieve nothing, except to exaccerbate tensions somewhat. Had Israeli been killed, the justification would have been similar to Turkeys lambasting the IDF and wanting an apology ( Israelis protecting themselves). I would not aggravate existing tensions however unnecessarily. This is unwise and counterproductive. Israel needs to remain firm and resolute..and stop apologizing for its actions. Just do it. The entire Arab world is in a mess, and needs a scapegoat. Israel is the perfect foil. I am not a pacifist however and thank God for Israel's 500 nukes and 5 Dolphins. The Egyptian military know that 1 megaton bomb over the Aswan, and these militants will be washed away.. Israel needs to put MORE money into defense..and create 1-4 more permanent armored(aka Panzers) divisions..with tanks and planes assigned. Any new war however, will first be fought with missiles. Israel needs to supplement its Jerichos. The cottage cheese crowd can make their own cheese. (Just use milk and bacteria guys).TEAR DOWN THOSE TENTS. Put the squatters to work, guarding the borders..give them a Galil, theTorah, and the book "Six Days of War"
116. # 103 Organized Accident
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (09.10.11)
Shady Mahmoud ! The Israeli Embassy in Egypt was a thorn in the eyes of many Egyptians since the peace treaty between the 2 countries,Egypt was willing to pay the price of a Jewish Embassy in Cairo, in order to cross over from the soviet camp to the west,at the same time, the government controled press, and the mosques were spewing Antisemitic incitement against Israel and the Jewish people, unlike France and Germany, who, after ww 2 decided to bury the hatchets and create a better future,in the Muslim world, the past is King and continues to rule,in Egypt hatred for Israel and Jews, keeps up the moral of the poor and starving Egyptian people,it has nothing to do with the palestinians (The Egyptians hate the palestinians) the more primitive a nation is,the more hateful it could be.the Egyptians are lovely people, but misguided.
117. # 46 That is the direct result of Obama
J.K. ,   brooklyn USA   (09.10.11)
Chris Rettenmoser ! Obama,as president is incompetent, but his speech in Cairo has nothing to do with recent events in the Arab world.
118. Livni wanted to apologize for egypt killing israelis
jason ,   haifa israel   (09.10.11)
She helped this situation with the gaza withdrawal which militarized the sinai with iran and hezbollah bringing in weapons and the tunnels under gaza which brought attackers to southern israel then she has the nerve to bash the government. Ms Livni is ms hypocrisy.
119. #61 Eporue - Arab Spring-Some success?
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.10.11)
People in Egypt have changed regimes; they're still as lousy off as they were before Half the population living on less than $2 a day, multitudes living in cemeteries because they can’t afford housing All the Egyptians have done is to merely change dictators, the Army still rules, and Women are still used and abused Libya, 50,000 or more have been killed, nobody, as yet knows who the new people are, they exchanged a Dictator, Khadaffy, for who knows what Syria, going great guns, Assad has killed thousands of his people, Iran is backing him, if Iran becomes dominant, Syria will be ruled as a puppet by the Mullah's of Iran Everybody has idiots in Government, just tell us what your excuse for being an idiot, since you're not in any government, or is that you're just an asshole with access to a computer ? You have seen nothing and know less, if that’s at all possible The funny thing is that the more you write, the more prominent your lack of knowledge is apparent, in your case monkey reads, Jackass types
120. #80 Mahmoud
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.10.11)
You have already proven your hate, you didn't need the Embassy to prove it Just one suggestion, have your towel & soap ready, if a next War were to happen, you need the towel to wipe oup all the water that will be spilled after the Aswan dam & Suez Canal are destroyed I would say that you're not of military age, your post indicates senility
