eporue ,   europe   (09.14.11)
...""The situation in the Middle East does not allow for irresponsible moves from the Palestinians, steps that will fail to bring security, peace and a Palestinian state, what they will bring is lack of stability.".... israel is hanging by the thread... and israel is irresponsibly acting, always against security, peace, and of course a palestinian state...
33. #12 is right... is there a rat to smell ?
eporue ,   europe   (09.14.11)
the whole thing is fishy... waiting until abbas really CANT pull back from going to the UN... he cant anymore... this has passed for certain... and then, they all jump out of their closets: obama giving interviews to every agency possible, hillary sending someone for negotiations - oops all of a sudden.... the european think tank (lol) pulls some ideas out of the drawer... strange, at least... i think this all is a trap, and not for the palestinians...dont ask me what tihs will turn to...
34. Jordan has been and will continue to be "Palestine",
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.14.11)
regardless of which imported family rules it, as the Hashemite family from the Hijjaz does now (Hijjaz, a part of Arabia, present day Saudi Arabia).
35. Greatest Concern
IsraelAlways ,   Canton USA   (09.14.11)
What worries me more than Jordan hanging by a thread is the overall unrest and uncertainty currently hanging over the whole of the middle east. **** I fear Israel may be facing one of the most dangerous times in its recent history, when it may need US help and that of its other allies more than ever before. Unfortunately, however, the ineptitude of our current president and his administration leaves me highly skeptical of Israel's ability to stem the tide of what may be in store for it in the days immediately ahead.
36. they already have state of their own

As you create a new Trail of Tears, How many casualties do you intend to inflict? How many will be children?
38. Palestine
Colt ,   Seattle USA   (09.14.11)
The UN is a creation of the United States, is it not? Hello Palestine! Do you guys realize this. Foolish steps to take...This could lead to All Out WAR.
39. #32 your post is the joke.
solomon ,   bklyn   (09.14.11)
You are correct...except you speak of the arabs, not Israel. Who shoots rockets at school buses? At civilians nowhere near military targets? Who refuses to compromise on anything? Who has stated they will not give up their demands even after a peace trearty [!?]? Who still teaches their children to be shaheeds and kill Jews? It is your post that is a joke.
40. Intreresting to see what is GODs next step!
Jouko ,   Kuopio,Finland   (09.14.11)
Palestinians may make their plans but GOD has the last word in any case. It seems that GOD is using the stubborness of palestinians to carry out His will! If the palestinians could make compromises, we would have achieved peace a long time ago! But then if we had peace, how could GOD carry out His promise to give the land from Egyptian river to the great river Eufrat to the people of Israel. Noway!!! Do you understand it is necessary to be unrestless time in order for GODs will to come true!
41. Pull the Plug on Cairo
twistin ,   san fran, usa   (09.14.11)
Israel, If your enemies are once again playing hardball, looking for your destruction, and feel they have learned from their mistakes....time for you to play too. Erase the Aswan dam, flush cairo into the Med. deal with the others in ways they won't forget either. better to be judged by 12, than to be carried by 6.

You should ask questions like that of the people that slit the throats of sleeping children and shoot rockets as school busses. Now there is intent. How dare you accuse Gee of intent.
43. plaistinian state
andy ,   New Hampshire US   (09.14.11)
Nadya, you need to read a history book. The "palistians" are JORDANIANS! Palistine was a term used to describe Jews up until the middle of the last century that lived in the area. As for fortitude of palistians..They are terrorists that could have had their own country and have repeatedly decided against peace. You need to get better informed.
44. #35 The U.S. is all out of 'help'.
Ed B. ,   Tennessee, USA   (09.14.11)
#35 said: "I fear Israel may be facing one of the most dangerous times in its recent history, when it may need US help and that of its other allies more than ever before." Well, the U.S. has spent a few trillion dollars fighting in Israel's behalf, not to mention the dead and maimed soldiers. Then along came the depression and the bailout of the kosher bankers on wall street. We are an angry, unemployed country. I say we're fresh out of help. Most Americans would agree, I believe.
45. Americans like you are such hypocrites!!!
Therrion ,   U.S.   (09.14.11)
As a Native American, I am so sick of your self righteousness. You took our land and had absolutely no historical evidence of ever being here. Since it's so easy to criticize the Israelis, why don't you pack you crap and get off my land. I have no hate for white people, but I do for douches like you.
46. Edward Sydney knows nothing
Jake ,   New York, USA   (09.14.11)
Appeasement to terrorists always works, right? Israel never belonged to the Philistines.
47. Terrorists
Lenny ,   Plano USA   (09.14.11)
The palistinians should get absolutely nothing what so ever from anyone until they remove Hamas and stop the terror attacks.

Which "fighting in Israel's behalf"? Which "dead and maimed soldiers"? These things NEVER happened. The US never fought on Israel's behalf; only it's own. And all the dead and maimed soldiers fighting for Israel were ISRAELI. Oh, you 'forgot' to mention with those "few trillion dollars " that all monies provide jobs for Americans as they are spent in the US. You also 'forgot' to mention the benefits to the US: intelligence information (including a Mig many years ago), battle testing US systems, and a country the US can rely on in the ME.

What planet are you on? 1. 1948- ? The Jordanians fought hard and were able to keep the WB and East Jerusalem. The arab militias failed miserably. 2. 1967- ? Same scenario, the Jordanians fought hard, except lost this time. 3. 1970- ? The "Pals" tried to kill him and take over the country with the help of Syria. Hussein fought in self-defense, same as Israel is doing now. 4. These were neither facilitation, handing over, nor slaughtering. Far from it. Your twists on history are both laughable and pathetic, and show the lengths you must go to make the yourselves "right".

Who are you kidding, 50,000 American Jews immigrated to Israel between 1967 and 1970 alone, thats just that period. The United States has fought for your nation through providing the majority of equipment Israel used to fight its wars along with who knows how many trillions of dollars of financial aid with which your country developed its infrastructure and has continued to do so. If that doesn't satisfy you then answer me this, what about the Americans on the USS Liberty that were attacked by the unmarked IDF planes when you were trying to start a war with Egypt? Do us all a favor and please shut up about what you don't know, unless you can explain what Israel has provided for the US that hasn't been already been compensated 1000 fold. While I do TOTALLY support a free and defensible Israel, and I do agree that there never has been a nation at any time in history known as Palestine (its a region renamed by the Roman Tyrant Hadrian) and Israel has more than made allowances to the Arabs since the country was re-born again in 1948, but keep your mouth shut about what you don't know regarding what America has done for the nation of Israel.

bernard ross ,   st anns bay, jamaica   (09.15.11)
return to claim all of the original palestine mandate with the proviso that for the sake of peace israel will accept jordan as the palestinian state. Since jordan is jew free with no jew allowed to own land or be citizen then israel should be a muslim free jewish state. As the mandate has been split into jordan and israel all that remains is for the transfer of the muslims to their jew free state.

What does the number of immigrants have to do with your post? As far as the rest: Thank you for the clarification that American soldiers never fought for or died for Israel. And as stated, Israel buys weapons with the stipulation that the money must be spent in the US. Throughout the years Israel has battle tested this equipment, giving the US not only feedback, but feedback on the US's enemies systems (ie Russian systems). They also supply intelligence from the ME, something we Americans can't do as well given our physiological makeup. Not to mention the many technological improvements Israel has shared with US companies. I do know what America has done for Israel......and how Israel has helped America. As far as the Liberty; it was a tragic mistake. It was partly (not wholey) exacerbated by the Liberty not receiving the US gov’t’s command to leave the war zone. Israel made up for it as best it could. Thank you for your support of Israel. We obviously disagree on many things. But as we are Americans posting on the website of an Israeli paper, the least we can do is show some civility and not demand that the other person 'shut up' because he/she disagrees with you.
