31. Maybe we need an incident.
Vlad   (10.02.11)
Maybe if an Israeli pilot panicks and shoots dewn a Turkish jet, it will send the Turks a message to stop these dangerous games.
32. There is only one way to stop a madman
Richie   (10.02.11)
And he is a madman. The Turks will suffer great consequenses if he is allowed to to escalate his ranting agaibst Israel. Lies, half truths, bravados (the vocabulary of of a deranged brain) will culminate into a clah sooner or later; it's inevitable. The people, the Army should get rid of him, before he gets rid of them. This stupid NATO is becoming like the UN, a bunch of imbeciles
33. Israel playing with fire.
Owen ,   Ist.   (10.02.11)
It ıs Israel that is playing with fire. Mr Erdogan will do what he says. Israel must understand that Mr. Erdogan is not bluffing. Thats what u thought. Turks allways saw Israel as a freind. But Israel everytime used Turkey ( with ıts old generals ) for ıts own political reasons. If u kill 9 citizens of a country ın International waters u must expect a retaliation. Im shore the top brass ın Jersusalem arent that stupid.
34. Erdogan has a big mouth and a small
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (10.02.11)
brain...and he is a coward...he is a talkinghead only ! A second Hugo Chavez....
35. Turkey
Strategist ,   Toronto, Canada   (10.02.11)
It should be made clear to Turkey, that Israel has no intention of taking on the burden of loses associated with a conventional war, and that from the first minute, Turkey will face a barrage of nuclear weapons.
36. Pulling NATO in?
allan ,   canada   (10.02.11)
Perhaps Turkey is hoping to provoke a war, and then call their NATO alliance buddies in to help attack Israel.
37. #26 Basia, Do you honestly believe what ...
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (10.02.11)
....you've just posted...or is it that you simply hate Jews?
38. Erdogan Thinks that its Winnable
Larry Vooper ,   Toronto, Canada   (10.03.11)
If you read between the lines, Erdogan wants to have a war with Israel because he thinks that Turkey can win it. If Turkey can force Israel to surrender, Turkey becomes the undisputed power in the Middle-East. Also, it won't hurt Turkey's Economy to have undisputed access to all that oil and natural gas. (The real cause of the dispute). I guess Erdogan figures that no way will Israel use nuclear weapons aginst him. However, people do desperate things when their backs are against the wall. So all of this because 9 Turks died attacking Israeli troops? I think not. Have a Happy Nuclear Winter, Mr. Erdogan.
39. #26 Actually in Chicago we think the opposite
Jorge ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (10.02.11)
Erdy has become an erratic warmoger dictador. There are AntiSemitic people that think like you, bully the Jewish students, and those are that think the lunatic from the ottoman place is somebody
40. Daniel #1
Arie ,   BaGolan   (10.03.11)
Like more and more ISRAELIS, we are truly getting tired of the TA attitude that Israel should act today like the Jews of Europe acted in the 40s and calmly walk into the Arab ovens. I say offer TA in exchange for the settlement blocs and make everyone happy. A veritable win win.. That I presume is ok with you!
41. #33 Owen..you're talking out of your ear : (
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (10.02.11)
Israel was a friend. Israel has always been the first in supporting Turkey after earthquakes. She has saved countless Turkish lives. Go read the Palmer report and get back to us. It is Erdogan provoking us.
42. Erdogan shoots from the hip...
esnuffnstl ,   USA   (10.03.11)
...and purely for personal gain. He knows attacking Israel plays well with his people, the Arab/Muslim community, and the world at large. Why does it play well? Because nations have grown increasingly frustrated with Israel--a nation with the most powerful military in the Middle East and backed by the world's most powerful nation--refusing to do what it takes to make peace with the Palestinians (and blaming everyone but themselves for the failure.) Erdogan is taking advantage of Israel's isolation to brighten his political star. Expect more leaders to do likewise as Israel's isolation grows and it becomes similar to apartheid-era South Africa.
43. To Ralph: Turkey Needs to Be Carved Up
Dave Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (10.03.11)
To Ralph: I favor our Congress passing a resolution calling Turkey's genocide of the Armenians, genocide. I also favor, NOT playing both sides (Obama) and withdrawing any drones sent to Erdogan, to be used against his enemies. (Can be used to kill Israelis too). Armenia should go tot he UNSC, sponsored by Israel..as should the Kurds..for a separate state out of Turkish territory. Afterall, the Kurds have a LEGITIMATE right to a country of their own. Had sancions been imposed against Turkey..it would have caved in long ago. BTW, what about Cypruss...isnt it about time a coalition of the brave kick the Turks off the island?
44. To Daniel T: Watch for Mushroom Clouds.
Dave Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (10.03.11)
To Daniel Teeboom: Erdogan started this conflict with Israel 4 years ago, long before the flotilla wa an inkling in an activists eye. He has made treaties with Iran and Syria...the 3 exchanging govt officials and others. Turkey says it haslots of friends and wants good relationships. But that doesnt include the Jews or Kurds, or Greeks. Israels blockade was legal, per the UN sponsored Palmer Report. Turkey dismisses it. Yet Turkey says the sanctions against Israel should have bveen enforced. Wowowo talk about double talk and perfidy. Israels blockade as Turkey knows. was meant to stop the smuggling of arms from Syria, and Iran into the Strip., in effect gun running. There was a means to deliver humanitarian goods through Israel's south. Erdogan know it. Turkey, in effect, cause the deaths of its one people..and blames the Jews for defending themselves when attacked from behind. Erodogan views our people the way Turkeyh did during and priorto WW2, as Hitler said, lovers of wealth, owners of corporatons, dominating themedia andentertainment, and having no skills on the land, or fighting. (Guess he was not aware of the1m Jews who fought him?). or the Jewish scientists who would have stopped him sooner, had they enriched uranium 2 years earlier. A young Serb by attacking a German official, started WW1. A young Polish Jew, tired of seeing his parents brutalized by the Krauts..well, Crystal Night was the upshot and beginning of the Holocaust. One Israeli or one Turk..."young Turk" can start a round of warfare..that only G-d will be able to stop once started. Expect Hamas and Hezbollah to join in.
45. Turkey and Israel
Photi ,   Australia   (10.03.11)
The Greeks, have a tradition the Turkey will get destroyed by Non-Greeks from Russia and the South? Israel maybe????
46. Talkbackers here no clue about Naval warfare!
Ibrahim ,   Turkey   (10.03.11)
(1) You cannot destroy a modern naval surface combatant by merely launching a missile from a fighter jet. (2) Navy vessels such as the ones used by the Turkish Navy have Area Air Defense systems which provide protection against aerial threats such as fighter jets and cruise missiles. They then have as a last resort close-in weapon systems which protect naval vessels at a closer range. Through the introduction of the Mk-41 VLS and ESSM missiles on it's fleet Turkey has the same level of protection against aerial threats as does any US Navy surface combatant. The introduction of the MILGEM class should not be taken very likely. All these mine is bigger than yours responses on here have no application in a real time war scenario.
47. @ #1
Jo B ,   Israel   (10.03.11)
when are you going to wake up and stop regurgitating this leftist propaganda. you say its because of bibi that we lost all our allies. enough has been said about turkeys active aggression against israel causing this friction in these talkbalks so i wont repeat those points. but i have just 1 simple question for you... what did bibi have anything AT ALL to do with losing our "ally" mubarak and egypt. that was purely an internal issue (helped along at the end by obama the moron) that caused the rift between israel and egypt. had mubarak still be in power today i guarentee that israel would have no friction with egypt whatsoever. the change did not occur on israels side, it happened on the egyption side. open your eyes just a bit from you self hating attitude and you will clearly see that israel has not in the past or is currently not the reason for any of the aggresion directed against her, its just pure and simple hate and jealousy
48. The God of Israel will stop all its enemies.....
Who cares   (10.03.11)
....as HE did again and again ! HE is committed to Israel plus HE is more than able - so, all you enemies of Israel listen carefully: You are not fighting Israel but you are fighting the one and only God ! Think about that and make the right conclusion ! If you continue the war path with Israel you will be defeated by the one and only God ! Choose wellbeing and seek real coexistence with the Jews/Israel and you will live well ! If you dont , you choose defeat / destruction !
49. #24 Turkey couldn't even stand up to Syria
Cynthia ,   USA   (10.03.11)
So much for Turkish sanctions against Syria. That really fizzled. Now Turkey is trying to placate Iran by advocating against Iran sanctions even though Iran is a threat to Turkey. And do you really think Iran will sit back while Erdogan beats his chest like Tarzan knowing Iran wants to be king of the jungle?
50. Every time Erdogan speaks
BH ,   Iowa   (10.03.11)
his life insurance premiums skyrocket.
51. To: Daniel at No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.03.11)
You are so correct. It is, however, important to keep in mind that Erdogan's marionette strings are jerked in Teheran. Jews grew up in a hard school. We are also pretty smart. We're not going to fall for this senseless warmongering coming out of Ankara, but we will be happy to bring the battle to him if it goes that far. We're not afraid of Turkey. They've been pretty useless for a VERY long time, and are no match for Israel. If they are fated to learn that the hard way, so be it.
52. To: Allan at No. 36
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.03.11)
It won't work. Turkey is on the verge of being booted out of NATO -- the first excuse will do. Following which, needless to say, all those lucrative NATO bases in Turkey will be moved elsewhere -- likely Tajikistan or Uzbekistan -- and Turkey's economy, which is already circling the bowl, will be flushed. Turkey has been a member of NATO in name only. Unlike some of the other NATO countries, they have never been trusted with nuclear options, and are rarely included in high-level strategic discussions. Simply put, they get to talk the talk, but they don't get to walk the walk. They do not have a key to the executive bathroom.
53. turks, armenians should immediately apply to un for a state!
ralph   (10.03.11)
54. Daniel @ 1, what is wrong with you?
leo ,   usa   (10.03.11)
55. Levo # 24
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.03.11)
Turkey with 72 million population and a much much bigger land is a bigger economy then Greece which is going through some rough times. However in Greece per capita income is double of Turkey. This means that Greeks are twice as rich as Turks. Let me also remind you that Turkish foreign debt has grown to 70 Billion dollars and keeps on growing. There comes a time when this debt must be paid. As per many Turkish economists the time is approaching.
56. OBama too stupid to cut ties- Turks
David ,   USA   (10.03.11)
Turkey has turned into another Iran. They are escalating tensions in entire region and this could led to a war. Why do the morons like OBama keep supporting this Terrorist named Erdogan. This guy sounds like the leader of Iran. Now the USA is giving them high end attack helicopters. Hell with Turks. Worthless country.
57. #38
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (10.03.11)
Erdogan realizes that future wars will be about natural resources, especially energy. He knows the only available energy for Turkey is the gas fields of Cyprus and Greece. If he were to just steal those gas fields, he would be condemned. Instead, he sets himself as the big Israel hater so the world will call his theft "resistance". This is the same strategy Ahmadinejad used to prevent American attack while he developed nukes to take over Saudi Arabia.
58. to #1 Erdogan meet with the Kurd terror org
ghostq   (10.03.11)
and big endorces of IHH, I don't think he does thos things cause he is friendly, in the UN incidents, it was proven, one armenian attacked him and another incident he went fist fighting with UN security gaurd.
59. #55 David Israel
Turk ,   Turkey   (10.03.11)
Turkey has become 72 million from 12 million in 80 years. So our GDP was more shared than "money pumped" Greeks. Still we showed the best performance in both Europe and Middle East inspite of Soviet Threat, Kurds, Coups...and so on. As for foreign debt, we pay the least interest rate for our external debt among Mediterranean countries. FYI.
60. Allan #36
David Israel ,   NY, USA   (10.03.11)
NATO chief Rasmussen said in an interview to a Hurriyet reporter that NATO would not take part in a conflict over the gas drilling in the Mediteraanean. He mentioned that while Turkey is a member of NATO Israel is a partner.
