Most "Jewish" organizations in the US trend liberal, and most heading those organizations *are* liberal. That includes the Federations, the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, Hillel, advocacy groups like ADL - even AIPAC is headed by an Obama supporter. But I don't follow their lead. After inheriting the worst financial mess in history created by the previous administration, Obama has handled the situation admirably. I dread to think of the mess the world would be in if Bush was still in the whitehouse. I do not know if jewish organizations need to declare support for Obama but only the uninformed and completely biased can state that Sara Palin, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh are Israel's best friends. Palin has no real historical or Geographical knowledge and the others say anything that comes to their extreme right wing mind including using the Nazi word when ever anything suites their extreme agenda. Believe me these do not have Israel's best interest in mind they will easily sell us if the agenda turns to be in their best interest. Even Fox news, which is a right wing promoting news organization fired Beck because of his own lunatic ideas. Obama has just been the only support for Israel in the UN against a Palestinian declaration of state. But I guess that If you are Biased against Obama you would not give him any credit, not even for being a major part in saving the Israeli embassy personnel in Cairo about a month ago. Obama has been hated by Some Jews and Israelis since he took office not even giving him a chance. He was Called Osama and a Muslim but it was under his leadership that the real Osama was killed and not under our MOST BELOVED G W BUSH. So please, I am not sure that Obama is the best president for Israel, but calling him the worst is really offensive. lest you forget a republican president named Nixon who almost sold Israel down the river during the Yom Kippur war, and Jimmy Carter, who was was (and still is) even worse to Israel.

The real reason that the ADL and the AJC want to prevent Israel being used as a "wedge issue" is because it will finally reveal the truth - which is that 95% of American Jews won't be voting based on Israel policy. The result of this will be the complete loss of the Israel Lobby's power and its phoney stick of "Jewish votes" they (and Netanyahu) like to hold over Obama. The ADL and AJC have a lot more to lose than the nuts of the Delusional Right, which has no influence in the first place.

You are 100% correct. No American should vote according to Israeli interests, but American interests. That said, what is clear is that Obama let his hatred of Jews take over his foreign policy, critically damaging American interests. For that reason alone (although there are others) he should be ejected from the White House.

Israel is a focal point in the Presidential election. DWS does not want Israel on the table for discussion because of her support of Obama. Replace DWS with Joe Kaufman for Congress 2012. She is extremely intelligent and a sincere friend of Israel. Rush Limbaugh is also a sincere friend of Israel. He is the most successful broadcaster in American history; with a regular listening audience of more than 25 million people. He has no need of Jewish support. Yet he consistently befriends Israel. The same applies to Glenn Beck and Mike Huckabee. Both have no need of Jewish support. Yet they are pro-Israel. They are sincere friends of Israel. Obama, on the other hand, bashes Israel constantly. He ludicrously poses as Israel's friend only when he needs Jewish votes and money. You don't know Israel's friends from her enemies.
